Wow... my instructor told me to ignore the stall horn for practice. That was no where near what I real power on stall looks like. No breaking to the left or right.
@tredub91 at slow speeds like the maneuver simulated here, the "yoke" (steering wheel) is not sensitive because there is not much airflow over the ailerons. At higher speeds, the controls become much more.... not really sensitive but responsive. hope that helps!
My dad's taking me flying in a week. He said he would do everything in his power to scare the shit out of me the first time up. I hope he doesn't do this...
that was not a real stall. You know a stall cause the aircraft to lose altitude, you pushed the nose right when you heard the horn, you didn't wait until the aircraft reached the stall speed
"stop flying?!!?" AHHHH! God, that's TERRIBLE teaching. The plane never stops FLYING. Unless it blows up. "Steep angle" ??? Some of you CFI's need to be more specific. Put the 2nd row of instruments on the horizon FIRST, THEN add full power. Otherwise the student is going to be doing a yaw dance all over the place and potentially spin it. Get it over with.
Being as how a stall is indeed the state where the aircraft stops generating lift, how is it not "Stop flying?" Is there something to stalls I don't understand?
These videos claim to "demonstrate" not "teach."
And I wish the person who does the captioning would learn English. LOL
See, you have a dumb ass here who probably hasn't even been in a cessna in his entire life, firstly, a stall is when the aircraft's wings STOP generating lift, which is 1 of the 4 forces of flight. And because 1/4 forces of flight are missing (lift), you cannot have flight and therefore the aircraft stops flying, and it is just a big ass hunk of metal that happens to be plummeting to the lovely planet earth.
Never been in a Cessna aeh? I've been in more types of Cessna than you'll ever be in bud. I have over 700 hrs. in the Skyhawk and Cutlass RG II. I have 143hrs in a Cessna 310, 60hrs in a Cessna 177 Cardinal, 40hrs in a Cessna 421, and 20hrs in a C208 (caravan). If that wasn't enough for you I have a CL-600 type rating with 600hrs of SIC turbine time. Tell me again I've never been in a Cessna.
You've never been in a cessna. Anybody can make stuff up, had you had that many hours you would've known that the aircraft stops flying during a stall.
Yeah. That's exactly it. Dude, grow up. Your a 30 year old douche who listens to U2-Vertigo. That's how I know your gay. Don't be jealous that I've got more flight time than you, and my aviation career is going much better than yours. Get a life dude.
1. I'm 15, 2. I probably have more flying time than you, 3. U2-Vertigo is probably the 2nd best song, and I'm perfectly straight. None-the-less it's okay to be jealous my friend.
Ok, your 15. You cant even legally solo an airplane yet. If your 15, i'm 24, and I started flying back in 2005 I can guarentee you that you don't have more flight time than me. Flying Microsoft Simulator doesn't count either n00b.
lmfao that means you didn't even start flying until you were 19... I've been flying when I was 13... i have nearly as much as experience as you do LMAO! This coming august i am going to solo btw, im already taking ppl training early becz of how far ahead i am
lmfao, you have absolutely no PIC time. Who gives a shit about total time. It's all about the PIC, kid. There is no way your training people either. You have quite a while until you can become Commercial licensed, and get your CFI certificates. Just stop talking dude. Your blowing smoke out your ass, and I don't believe a single word your saying.
I didn't say you had to believe anything - look my friend subscribe to me and on the day of August 26, 2010-August 30, 2010 you will see the video of my solo flight on there, depending on weather and other variables. Then I will show you in my logbook the PIC time for you, but remember when going for private pilot, it doesn't have to be 40hrs PIC ;-)
Did I say you needed 40 hrs of PIC time? Nope. All I said is total time doesnt mean shit if you don't have PIC time. I.E: I don't care if you have 2,600hrs TT like I do because you have 0 hrs of PIC whereas I have over 2500hrs PIC and 2 type ratings....
You said PIC is all that matters... which... clearly, is not the case. And obviously you don't have that many hours. Also you probably don't even hold a license... LOL peace my friend
@plane63 guise guise, calm down, we all know that all hours count in flying, lets not get all macho, none of us are going to be the next clay lacy now are we?
I think it is clear when "stops flying" is used to describe a full stall. Yes, the airplane is still flying if you consider a rock dropped from a tall building to be "flying".
Exactly. When you have pax on board only a douche would pretend there is a serious problem. I tell my pax about the gear warning horn, stall horn etc before I take them flying.
i just failed a fucking checkride today because of this maneuver. he told me to do a turning power on stall and i kept going into a spin. after the second try he just said OK TAKE ME BACK TO THE AIRPORT, THATS ALL FOR TODAY, YOU HAVE TO REVIEW YOUR TURNING STALLS. i was like 0_o
Biggest trick to prevent stall is propper transitioning. Make sure you obtain a turn first before pulling up for the stall. At least, don't wait for the last moment to add the turn-- learned this the hard way. And keep it cordinated!
He's doing an imminent, or Incipient stall. Basically only shows the effects a plane experiences just before a stall, then he corrects it before there is any loss of altitude.
Where was the stall? Incipient stall perhaps? I had a real scary DPE that made me do a power off and power on full stalls with 30 degrees of bank left and right on my private pilot checkride. If I knew better then I would have punched him in the face when we landed! LOL!
Yeah...turning stalls are really not fun. Goes against everything they teach you! Really awkward pulling the yoke into your lap in a bank in slow flight.
All you have to do is keep it coordinated with rudder, with enough altitude, that DPE was doing a great job in making you do that, every pilot should be able to do that maneuver without going into a spin.
Concur. This was only testing the stall warning horn, not really demonstrating a Power On Stall. However, this is a good intro to a very low time pilot on what one should do in real world; DO NOT IGNORE THE STALL WARNING HORN!
How do you know what he is demonstrating? Is it a private pilot, or a Commercial pilot? Private, sure I understand. Commercial? You go to the first physical indication of a stall. Stall horn comes on 5-10knots before the stall itself, so it looked fine to me. (for commercial standard)
A FRIKIN GREED! TEST STALL WARNING HORN FOR PREFLIGHT (witch sucks considering what could be on the wing but thats better then what could be on the ground.)
oh i did not see that... hey but i know my planes i am a pilot myself (don't bother looking at the vids even tho i posted them well.. kinda recently there really not...
I did a Sim on a cardboard box with make shift knobs. lol... it was so old skool but it did help out the imaginary fly9ng. but GPS now makes a lot difference.
As long as you kept it coordinated with rudder it would continue straight ahead, stall, the nose would fall, gain airspeed, pitch up and stall again. You can keep the yoke all the way back the whole time if you keep it straight with the rudders. I used to teach falling leaf stalls (power off) where the student kept the yoke all the way back, power off, and controlled the airplane solely by using the rudder.
Wow... my instructor told me to ignore the stall horn for practice. That was no where near what I real power on stall looks like. No breaking to the left or right.

The aircraft headsets are made to filter out that engine sound.
