I have a bmw 520d touring since 11/2007 and the model come with 177 ps. This model started 2 months before over the year of 2007.

of course that the weight counts, i have also an bmw and i can say that the aceleration can be diferent if the tank of gas is full or if is empty and that is only a diference of 30kg

I never like this sort of tests, a fair one would be the NEW 220CDI vs this. By the way, wth the same cargo, the merc is heavier and the BMW lighter, newer and more horse power. The BMW should have had the first race even if it was carryin another pax, so it was a case of bad driving. Where the tyres on the BMW runflats? if they where, no spare wheel where as the merc does have one. That's some more weight isn't it? BMW's engine alone is going to be lighter than the Mercedes. unfair test.

i think BMW was in 4th gear on first video, so he needed to rev up to 80km/h first to get some power, but in second video he might be in 3rd or even 2nd, because he pulled very quickly

there is an important difference of torque (100Nm) between these models. i know nothing about their transmissions: are both equiped with manual or automatic? also i have doubts regarding the accuracy of the start in the first run..

No 1º video iam 2 pessoas no BMW = mais peso. Na 2a parte, o BMW ia mais leve, pois so levava 1 pessoa, e o Mercedes ia com 2 pessoas, logo mais pesado. Foi essa a única diferença! Tb ficamos admirados como o peso de uma pessoa fazia tanta diferença. Talvez o facto de o Mercedes ter menos binário explique isso....
