  • my 3 year old daughter a abscess on her leg and she can hardly walk and it is not getting bigger... she going to hozzy to get it lanced but will they put her to sleep cos i can't see her staying still while they put needle in..

  • ouch man was it atleast alil numb i mean damn i couldnt do it lol

  • Wow, that closely resembles my procedure when I got a brown recluse bite, and my dead beat ex-step dad wouldn't take me to the doctor for a week, and a half. Two more days , and it would have gotten into my rib cage.

  • i had one of those on my tail bone and it is the worst pain that you can EVER imagine. it is unbearable. when they remove the packing it is just as painful as when they initially cut it. i am so sorry for ANYONE who has to go through this.

  • that was,,,interesting

  • omg i was asleep when i had this done,i had one on my face under my eye just looked it up to see what they did they must pull the fibre back out wi all the crap n puss.......nice

  • They pack it with gauze to help fight further infection.

  • is that between her legs

  • No , they put that in to help it heal . You cant just leave a deep punctured wound open like that .

  • The material they put in the wound acts as a sort of wick so that the wound can heal from the inside out. If it closed up over the hole where the infection was, it would just reinfect.

  • you put that in because when its infected, they put that paper in you it has some type of drug on it and it nums the inside of you so it wont get hurt or infected

  • was that from a ingrown hair?

  • i had one of those they put the string or what ever you wanna call it so that the wound will heal from inside out other ways there is chance for it to get infected again

  • It acts like a wick to draw the fluids out, similar to how a Zippo lighter works. Abscesses need to heal from the inside out. If the incision closes before the bacteria is gone, they can easily come back.

  • ooh eee aah! i can feel the pain!! AH!!! STOP IT HURTS TOO MUCH! X((

  • O.o

  • worst pain ever when they take that out

  • man this surgery is bad.

  • Haha, I had an absess in my belly button man and they had to stick it in there, and even after that i had to replace it every so often. I thoguth my intestines were gonna get pulled out

  • Im missing the fourth video, were it gets pulled out :)

  • and/or bacteria creates a haven under your skin and colonizes

  • did it hurt

  • DUDE!!!! if that would happenn to me...or any other of you people...

    OUCH!!!

  • oh dear... that looks painful.. how does one get an abscess in the first place?

sadly youtube is the first place i've even heard of such a thing X_x

  • holly shit xDDDD

    whats that ?

  • omg i had surgery yesterday for pilondial sinus abscess incision and drainage and today i had my first packing change with the same dressings they use in this video and omg ! the pain was horrible and i got to have that every day and im only 14 years old and they still arent very gentle with me being younger.

i swear its the most painful part of all and has anyone got any tips on easing the pain during packing?

    thanks.

  • i had one but they didnt do this... i just went for surgery they cut me drained it n left the cut open to heal by itself. haha now i have a scar on my armpit... but they did this to my bro in law.... hmmmm

  • Yeah they put it in there to get all the puss and to clean it out and stuff and after a few days or weeks they take it out its nasty

  • The packing is put in there to allow it to continue to drain as it heals. If you simply cover it up, the upper part of the skin would close over and provide a nice warm pocket for the infection to build up again and perhaps go even deeper as it looks to take the path of least resistance.

  • scary

  • you could perform a fair amount of magic tricks with that!! haha

  • I can't imagine how much this must hurt. Does the packing help the formation of granulation tissue and help get rid of any residual infection? I would feel like Shaungotti29: why can't they just drain it and send patient away?

  • omg.. they put that in there why? to clean it out..then take it out? OUCH!

  • It's to keep the wound opened so that it'll drain properly. I've now gone to get the packing changed 4 times and I was told that I'd likely have to get it done 4 or 5 more time. Yay!! lol Ah well, there are far worse things.

  • it promotes better wound healing and limits the risk of the abscess reoccurring.

  • they use that, to fill in the whole temperarly. becuase the flesh would mostly heal on top, leaving a gap of air inside, and making it hard to heal inside, so they have that to also clean it too. they keep a little bit hanging out for easy and mostly painless removal ^_^

  • It has heal from the inside - can't just let a scab grow over a cavity like that. The packing is so that it remains open so that the new layers of skin etc grow and fill it in the proper order. otherwise it would never heal properly

  • The packing is to keep the wound open. The packing will absorb the drainage. This helps keep the wound from closing up while there is still infection present.

  • to keep it from closing to so the inside has a chance to heal out before the infection pocket closes. It doesnt always work. Sometimes they cover over the from the outside heal and reform.

  • There are horror stories where they forget it's in there.

  • its so it wont close up so it can heal from the inside out.

  • That is packing. They keep it in there to hold in the extra ooze. (I know... disgusting.) I have some in ME right now. I had one removed last night. Yes, you pull it out yourself.

  • I have one on the inside of my ass cheek right now. It's hell. When they remove the packing, the pain is unreal. I thought they'd just drain it, stick a bandage on it and send me on my way. Heck no. I've had to get the packing removed and put back in 3 times already. It really blows.

  • Dude.. When I was 8. I thought the same thing.

I thought the needle to numb it was the worst pain but when they SLICED THE ABCESS OPEN ON MY SIDE. I thought I was gonna die.

  • I have to do it myself after ai had surgery three days ago. They gave me vicodine but it made me sick. I can't push it in that far

  • you're suppose to have that put in.. why?

  • It prevents infection, I had one on the back of my neck. They take it out and put a new one in like 3 times, depending how bad it is

  • It keeps the wound open so it drains, instead of scabbing over and forming a boil. Also the packing acts as an irritant and that makes the body try to flush the wound.. the idea is to localize the infection in the area nearest the hole so it heals fast and clean. It's nasty but it works like a charm.

  • because if you don't it will heal on the outside quicker then the inside and basically leave a giant hole under your skin. this helps it heal properly.

  • keeps it from reforming... a packed whole has no where for pus to be stored.

  • so it dosent get infected if u dont the thing will just come back i have one and it really hurts getting it put in and out i have to do it every morning

  • it absorbs fluid

  • what was the point of that

  • It keeps the wound open long enough for all the junk to run out, 24 hours later you pull that out and let it heal correctly.

  • it has the thingg drain and not heal on the outside to trap it all in again

  • i think to clean it or to see how long it is

  • to soak up the blood

  • yep i had one on my bum, thourght it was an ingrowing hair not that i have much hair there. it was pretty massive but gave me no problems until i started squeezing it! then it went bigger, redder, harder and stung like crazy at the slightest touch. went into AE under local anestetic and it looked like they cut it out . ive been left with a scar but its far better than what it was before.

  • Oh man, they are shakin real bad :/

  • That is definitely a staph infection!! My mom had it and that is just what it looked like. They did that same procedure on her. Wash your hands people that stuff is deadly if not properly treated.

  • lol tampon for the leg !

  • had a this surgery done a couple months ago it suckeddddddd

PS ass hole doctors gave me morphine after the surgery was done

  • Eww....I had surgery for that last week.....omg gross.....

  • That looks pretty painful..

    Hope it didn't hurt

    :)

  • uhh...how bout abscess packing?

  • whats abscess?

  • holly shit why would they shove that in there doesnt it hurt?

  • First video I've seen on here of an abcess actually being treated correctly. Everyone just usually squeezes them and films it to put on youtube.

  • Man I had this done to me today, but it was on my head, I know the pain your going through man....I feel for you

  • LOL thats gonna be a damn good one too

  • when they put that stuff back in its just disgusting

  • omg this remind me of the pain i have to go though T.T they dont even num it just got for it.

  • Ouch.

  • gee... that's quite a cavity you have there...

  • she's so strong, i couldn't do that if i could...

  • I had an abscess like this on my face. I couldn't even see what was happening and what they were doing.I just had to hope that when I took the bandage off i didn;t have a huge hole in my cheek!

  • i just had one...it was internal...

    ahh

that hurt so bad...i had to get my tonsils out...i hated it and i was talkin all weird..lol

  • I've been suffering from MRSA for 3 years ( I've always been so hygenically clean my whole life my family and friends think I have OCD} Maybe if my doctors had some sense they would have done this procedure on me!

  • wats that o - o

  • OMG o.o

  • omg... this is so nasty... she's brave ;)

  • i had this done and the packing came out by its self. it was stuck to the bandage,i didn't feel a thing to be honest..guess i was just lucky cause i was expecting to be punching people out of pain

  • DUDE.. i know..but when they inject it first with the numbing shit before they drain it...its like fire.

  • Had 4 on the back of my theigh only they were much larger and deeper...they cut half my theigh out.

  • Not so bad. It is educational. Thanks for posting.yous

  • Goodness what horrible paiiinnn!!!

  • how do you get one of these?

  • im only 11 and had this infection when i was 10 it hurt like crap taking the stuffing out i screamed for a week and then you have a hole thats huge

  • oh i had this surgery i thought it was a cyst tho. i=the stuff inside is really digusting.

  • Looks like they're preparing for a magik trick :D

  • haha. to me it looks like there putting in a tapeworm xD

  • =D.

  • had one on my ass cheek, no idea how it got there but..

  • omgwtflol.

    u made my day.

  • what did they have to do? if you dont mine me asking, just like gross/cool stuff like this

  • did the doc say any thing about spiders?

  • ingrown hair

  • i had one on the bottom of my butt

  • me too lol

  • dude man it happens to the best of us lol.

  • I know this was over a year and a half ago now, but I still have to say that she is so brave!

I'm going through this tommorow and I doubt I will be able to compose myself like that.

    As they said, "She's a trooper" :)

  • imagine if this video was played backwards...

  • you have to take part of it out everyday i had it once, did NOT feel good at all feeling that being pulled out

  • hahahaha!oh dude!thats hilarious!

  • it would look like a magic trick

  • what is abscess, my classmate is having one and she still isn't sure

  • o..m..g.. my eye was twitchin when i saw this..

  • my leg is tinglyy. that looks more painful than it probably is.

  • The packing gauze helps to soake up some of the infection.

  • how these poeple get the infection from ?

  • i have one absess and the explanation my Dr. told me is that in my case the hair doesn't grow to the outside but it grows to the inside of the skin and that causes the infection.

  • Staph is an infection of bacteria living in your bloodstream. you can get it by not washing properly, scratching a bug bite, or something as simple as not taking care of a piercing or blemish

  • Well, first of all, it might be a good idea for you to:

    a)spell "what's" correctly.

b)consider this amazing magical place people go to find answers to their questions. It's called "Google."

  • It is to keep it draining. Not to stop puss, that would be harmful.

  • my leg is tingly

  • they have to pack it so that the hole where the abcess was heals from the inside out to prevent air bubbles and infections etc. it also acts as a sponge to absorb remaining puss and other bodily fluids.

  • Its packing gauze. It helps to prevent infections.

  • It is called packing guaze to keep it draining.

  • it's a wick-absorbs the remaining pus and any new stuff that might come along- they'll remove it at some time later- in a few days or so? She'll be treated with antibiotics as well.

  • everyday u have to chage it its just like a bandage, my mom had 1

  • They are putting a gauze into it to stop infection :)

  • it's called a 'wick'. made of gauze or similar material, and it's supposed to absorb any puss and blood left in the wound to avoid infection again. i think you wait a week, or however is suggested, to pull it out.

  • BLERRG!

  • they put tissue in it so no bacteria gets into it and gets infected.

  • Lets remove your abscess...by stuffing it with a shoe lase...wate wtf?!

  • no its called like gauze or something

  • wtf are we shoving stuff IN IT?!

  • It just keep going.. and going..

  • not its a type of bandage to help with bleeding

  • oh heeeyyull no!!

  • why are they doing it??

  • she sounds kinda hot!!!!!=þ

  • that was REAL DEEP! Where did that come from?

  • oh my god, getting paper into yourself..

  • that looks like tissue paper

  • when i first watched this vid i thought that thing they are puting into that person's body was a shoe lace o_O

  • shit that wouldve hurt

  • I had an episode with msra in my groin. It hurt so much I couldn't walk for days. I was finally able to get it lanced at the ER, they packed it just like this too.

  • i had staph 1 time and its healed up now but it looks like i got shot with a 22. lol

  • what is abscess? I hope I don't get it, it seems kinda common....

  • Why i didn't see any pus come out from these 3 video? Too early to cut it or what? Normally after how many days is suitable to cut open the abcess?

  • i had somthing like that put in an infected surgery site man that shit hurt cause it was like twice as big

  • mrsa is becomming an epidemic in some places. 10 years ago they isolated people with this infection in hospitals and nursing homes. Now they don't and it has spread especially among tweekers. Everyone beware of staph!

  • why r they putting it in??

  • Once healthed, does it leave a hole in the skin that needs to be sutured?

  • My sister had to have the same procedure done to her a couple years ago. She HATED it. She said the piece of paper they stuck in her was so annoyingly uncomfortable.

I luckily didn't have to have this procedure done when I had a staph infection. But it was sooooo painful when they drained it.

  • That chick definately has communial MRSA. That's a staph infection, how she ever let it get that bad is a mystery.

  • I thought the same when I saw how she did the local anaesthesia putting the needle just right through the abscess

  • that hurts like hell.

    the pressure hurts...

and when they take it out...

    ahh.

  • oh geeze it must hurt to take it out

  • my couzin has an abscess and im wondering what it is... con someone please tell me

  • I am currently healing an abscess I have right below my belly button with the packings once a day. Treated about a week ago. The doctor said I had a abscess about the size of a tangerine filled with pus...luckily it didnt get past the abdominal wall.

  • shit i was diagnosed with MRSA 3 months ago had something like that but 3-times bigger ,,,,, fortunaletly only 2 of them )))))

  • i had surgery and had wicks put in the wounds

wicks are a type of sterile guze that will drain the wound of pus and blood

  • The 'packing' as it is called, is a sterile gauze that collects the pus/blood, as well as helps the hole to heal from the inside out...otherwise the skin would grow back on the outer layer leaving a hole under the skin--which you don't want. Where was the flush...to clean out the hole prior to packing??

  • my lil bro has one huge one on his butt poor lil guy

they had to have 4 ppl hold him down to make the insition or however its spelt but when they cut it he stopped crying that much but ppl asked if he had terets lol an today we have to take him in to get the guaz in it changed

  • Eww...

I have a minor abscess and now I'm afraid it'll turn into that!

  • drain it before it gets bigger! and it will get bigger

  • It will eventually

  • what the hell are you talking about this is a standard procedure?

  • its a wick that helps drain the infection out.

  • they put that stuff in my toe when I had my nail cut out it helps it to drain and stuff its supposed to help prevent infection and stuff... well thats what my mom told me and she's a nurse so I tend to believe her when it comes to things like that.

  • Gauze

  • what is that white thing he puts into the cuts?

  • I think it's a sterile gauze of some kind, keeps the infection at bay, and provides some stability.

  • It's just a cloth, like tissue paper. My mom had a HUGE abscess, if you poked her back, blood and cyst would POUR out, it ruined a lot of her shirts. We had a nurse come over and she stuffed that stuff into the hole and would come back the next day and take it out, then put a new clean one in for like a week.

It was pretty crazy, the nurse used a qtip to stuff it in, a freakin' 6 inch qtip.

  • The white thing is a gauze that contains an antibiotic. It is placed in the wound to directly affect the infection.

  • it also acts as a drain to help drain the blood out

  • It is medicated packing used to fill in an open wound so it will heal proper if left open it will close over and infection can remain in as there will still be a hole under the closing it is usually packed and unpacked daily it lets wounds heal from inside out instead of outside in.I had it done daily for 8 month due to an infection in a surgical incision. It hurt lick hell because of the amount needed.
