I've been in the woods here in newfoundland where I'm from plenty of times and let me tell you, when I feel like there are faeries in the woods with me, I do not stay in there to find out whether they are nice or not, chances are, they aren't. Kind of cool film though, should have been narration though I think.

I find *that* to be more sexist than giving them a horror film fate that could be shared by almost anyone. If she had taken over, the film would've had a completely different meaning. I found this to be one of the most distasteful, sexist and especially misogynist films I have ever seen--the whole story seems like a sexist warning to little girls that if they give into the unnatural temptation of breaking with the cultural and gender norm and rather than side with their mothers take control of the narrative and attempt to break free--they will end up dead--it's like the old anti-queer narratives of post-code Hollywood! It's pretty though--but the story is quite ugly.

It's simply a way of communicating the dark side of Faeriedom- something that most people in this time period don't understand or think about at all. It could have been told using a little boy as well; a child is a child, but then we wouldn't have had that cute scene where the faeries spun her dress. Of course the story is ugly- it's about faeries attacking and probably killing someone!

This is really good :) Kinda reminds me of the 'Small worlds' episode of Torchwood (my favourite episode btw). Fantastic premise, great acting and I loved the way the fairies looked like leaves shaking in the wind, in that way a child's imagination can make all sorts from the simplest of things.
