I first saw SS in a film when I was 14years old, Les Diaboliques.Persons under 16 were not allowed to see the film so I had to lie about my age to get in the cinema.It was quite an effort as I looked about 12,but it was worth it.I was absolutely smitten
by SS and the Clouzot film was brilliant. My french teacher at school suggested I write an essay in french,which I did with enthusiasm.Subsequent films with SS in
them were always good and my admiration for her has never waned.
People don't what growing old with grace means. They are so obsessed and fearful of growing older that they mutilate themselves and they think they see youth. It's so sad. All that stares at them from the mirror is an old person trying to look young. It never works and in the end time always wins.
Simone Signoret, Ingrid Bergman, Bette Davis, Katharine Hepburn, Deborah Kerr, Doris Day, Myrna Loy, Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich & Gena Rowlands are my top 10 ALL-TIME favorite actresses!!!!!
Qu'elle est belle !! Quelle grande dame avec un grand D. People used to say I look like her when she was younger (and so I). She was old then, and I did not understand this compliment. Thank you for showing me Simone in all Her facets. Bisous xxx
Thanks for this lovely tribute to one of the finest actresses ever. What a face she had for the camera, even as she aged--and I love that she let it all hang out and aged so naturally. I left flowers on her grave in Paris shortly after her death. Viva Simone.
