  • The bus seems to spend quite a bit of time in th higher rev range of gears. I can't remember much about this bus from when it was part of the Aberdeen fleet, do you know if it was one of the olympians that was fitted with a semi-automatic gearbox?

  • @fantarule You're right it does, but I think that's more due to the age of the gearbox, this one was fitted with a Voith Automatic. Indeed she was new to Grampian in Aberdeen in 1984 and carries an Alexander body rather than a more common ECW.

  • @bristolvrboy Yeah I did think it would of been a little much for Aberdeen to have a bus with a semi-auto gearbox. Although in all honesty I did preger the Alexander bodies olympians

  • Its a good sight to see a Layland Olympian having the ability to keep running when the so called better Volvo buses break down! Keep these great buses running!

  • @fantarule Its so true isn't it! The Volvo was 22 years younger at yet this is the one that keeps going through it all! Fantastic buses. Shame they're gone now!

  • @bristolvrboy I think the best thats left now of these things is bus companies preserved fleets. No idea if First Bus has preserved one of these in its preserved fleet, would be a shame if they hadn't.

  • Voith gearbox?

  • Indeed it is!

  • Very nice
