If only today we could find some kind of family to represent Fire Lake. Perhaps an irrepressable California kid to suffer. Time will tell.....it will come. Eights and Aces!!
I was raised listen to bob and could never get enough of his style of music ...I'm 54 now and still cant get enough he is the best....god bless having his music!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The video, I ADORE!!!!! The comments, well, yall are just a bunch of idiots, probably very young and /or immature!! Dorks!!!!! Just love the music or dont listen to it!!
@Xianman06 You are confusing khazars like soros, rothschild with the True Jews...sorry you got your intel from the Pubic School system (Fabians and Progressives) Revelation 3....TRUE JEWS - CHURCH of PHILADELPHIA!
@seancannonart. Joe was afraid to cut the cake because it was his birthday cake, not a wedding cake. And one more birthday cake is one more year towards the grave. In Joe's case, when he died, he was going to fire lake, and he knew he was going there.
In 1990 I had a junior college football coach in Texas invite me down (free ride) to join the squad. That spring and summer I drank alot of beer, hung out with friends and pretty women;consequently having to much fun to go down that fall and told myself next year.......... 21 years later still regret never going and firelake always reminds me of this scenerio when he says"who wants to take that long shot gamble". I never played another down of football since and regret it daily.
i remeber the time i was up in fire lake many yrs ago. the michigan chain gang was there, biulding a road. uncle joe in the song was the nervous chain gang captain. them boys in the gang werfe tough southern boys who came to detroit tio find work but theys could barely read and none of them are riding. so they became bums and went to the prison gang
i had a vision with this song i saw the lake of fire i like to go to fire lake this song brings me back to true happiness and my innocence too love you bob i am from st.john,s conceptionbay south and port aux basques
Uncle Joe did time in Upper Mich. for distributing child porn and later assaulted Aunt Sally. He is nowe a registered sex offender and a close friend of Mike Tyson
Such a great song one of my faves pull up the band "arcade fire" song "the suburbs" & tell me if is sampling this song? maybe its me....beginning sounds the same but Bob may have given permission idk?
I think what Bob is saying is Joe was afraid to cut the cake (wedding cake) hence why telling the aunt a sad tale about him running off to Fire Lake...
One more thing, did you ever ask yourself while listening to this song, What is wrong with Uncle Joe?? I mean , why is he afraid to cut the cake? Just a thought I have always pondered. LOVE this song!! 80's forever my friends!! ☺♥
@juniebird80s The reason he doesnt want to cut the cake = "Birthday cake" is because he doesnt want to know that he is getting older. By cutting the cake he acknowledges he has turned another year older.
This song is just so amazing!! Always loved this song. I want to go to Fire Lake forever!! Bob Seger put out some great songs!! Takes me back to better days. This song takes me back to days of true happiness and innocence. I miss those days. My heart just aches for those days. What a time that was. Never to be forgotten! There was a magic in the air back then that you just cant feel today and that is a real shame. This song is pure magic in itself! Missing those days forever!! ☺♥
(cont'd) sworn in as president. Two months later, Reagan was shot & lived. Bob Marley died a month and a half later, just a month before I graduated. I was not looking forward to life as adult in that world.
Yeah, it's a shame those days are gone. It seems like the world lost its innocence, hope, & integrity in 1980.
I was a senior in HS when this was out. Everything seemed to change that year. Some heavy times. The hostages were being held in Iran, Bon Scott died in February, John Bonham died in September. Everyone was diggin' John Lennon's return to the music scenes with his & Yoko's beautiful album, and their intimate, wonderful interview they did in Playboy. Then Ronald Reagan was elected. A month later John Lennon was shot dead. The Iran Hostages were released 5 minutes after Reagan was (cont'd)
i have this LP and CD and this song is Bob's finest... i always feel some kind of tension in my lungs when i listen to this... and yeah, i'm only 23. :)
I was 28 yo and single when this tune came out. Just great memories of motorcycles, sexy young ladies, booze, maryjane, friends and Rock n Robert. Oh yeah and those road trips to northern Michigan were kick ass. Those were the good old days
I was a freshman in high school when this song came out. It stuck with me for 30 years now... probably because this song sounded so personal. What the hell would a 14 year-old know. It was a very tough year for me, but I can still hear this song while riding the bus.... Life is much better now and this song is still as good as evr!
All the way to Fire Lake..... Great song. Feel good song.... Bobs the best! Laying in the tall grass at night looking up at the stars. Ahhhhhh the best of times! Juniquejulie
I miss you raymond....much LOVE<3<3
