@newbiemage123 Barre chords are tough ehen you first start learning guitar.They were the first chords I learned before any open chords and I did not have that much difficulty with them.Trust me though I'm not bragging I have trouble with many other aspects of guitar playing. But my point is if you practice they will come quicker than you think. My approach when I was taught barre chords was to grab the chord almost as if you were graabbing a baseball.{ to be continued]

@newbiemage123 Also if you are having a lot of trouble you should take your guitar and get it set up. A set up is basically a guitar tech adjusting everything on your guitar so it will play and sound better.Most music stores offer this service. When a guitar is new the "action" which is how high the strings are above the neck is sometimes to high. This can make the guitar difficult to play even for an advanced player.I just got mine set up and it is so much easier to play.

@newbiemage123 Just one more thing.If you find that when you are playing your guitar you have to press on the strings really hard to play it then your guitar definatly needs a setup. When I first bought a guitar. No one told me any of this and that is when you need to know this the most because learning an instrument is hard enough without having to deal with a guitar that is not in good working condition.

@newbiemage123 Actually that depends. Mayby slighly more than an electric but not really much more. I would still recommend that you get a set up I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how much easier playing will be.Look I am by no means a great player but players far better than I will tell you that if your guitar has good action[ playability ] and stays in tune you'll be much more inspired to play it.That is another thing a good set up will do keep your guitar from getting out of tune

this is as easy as it gets when explaining a song. I didn't understand anything till I found martys lessons on youtube. I do admit tho that this song would not be the 1st to try if I was a total beginner as the barre chords and strum can be a pain at

1st. try some other lesson of his that got just basic open chords and start there. they are better for beginners. once u can move through the basic open chords then try songs with the barre chords. this 1 is good.the chord switch is slower.
