Thanks for all the great videos my man! Really great teaching style. BTW, the hardest part of this song for me is playing the muted "scratch" part after every strum. It took me a while and I've been playing for three years.
awesome fedora!!!! you always have awesome hats. and awesome lessons. i used to wish you did em faster, but im glad you take your time, because you are a fantastic teacher and goin slow helps out everybody, whether or not they've been playing for a while or are new. Here's to tons of upcoming guitarists learning from your youtube videos!!!
@newbiemage123 Barre chords are tough ehen you first start learning guitar. They were the first chords I learned before any open chords and I did not have that much difficulty with them.Trust me though I'm not bragging I have trouble with many other aspects of guitar playing. But my point is if you practice they will come quicker than you think. My approach when I was taught barre chords was to grab the chord almost as if you were graabbing a baseball.{ to be continued]
@newbiemage123 Also if you are having a lot of trouble you should take your guitar and get it set up. A set up is basically a guitar tech adjusting everything on your guitar so it will play and sound better. Most music stores offer this service. When a guitar is new the "action" which is how high the strings are above the neck is sometimes to high. This can make the guitar difficult to play even for an advanced player.I just got mine set up and it is so much easier to play.
@newbiemage123 Just one more thing. If you find that when you are playing your guitar you have to press on the strings really hard to play it then your guitar definatly needs a setup. When I first bought a guitar. No one told me any of this and that is when you need to know this the most because learning an instrument is hard enough without having to deal with a guitar that is not in good working condition.
@newbiemage123 Actually that depends. Mayby slighly more than an electric but not really much more. I would still recommend that you get a set up I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how much easier playing will be.Look I am by no means a great player but players far better than I will tell you that if your guitar has good action[ playability ] and stays in tune you'll be much more inspired to play it.That is another thing a good set up will do keep your guitar from getting out of tune
@newbiemage123 Yeah, You have to press hard enough to get the sound to ring out, if this is your first time playing A Barre chord, it will be very hard, keep at it! it gets easier!
Good stuff Marty...all you newbies to bar chords, just stick with it, your hand will remember with practice like he says...don't worry about strumming the bottom strings so much as the root "power" notes, at the top...
Hi Marty just wanted to say thanks for putting everything you have so far up on here on youtube, you are really easy to understand awesome teacher!!! thanks again!!! I keep on following u!!! :)
Marty- when I started, your strum pattern details (d d u d etc) really helped me a lot. Now I'm getting better, it would help if you showed them like the beats. (e chord) 1+2+a (next chord) 3+4+a (f# chord) 1+2+3e+4+a ... You are truly awesome- this is not criticism just a suggestion to help us beginners progress. Thanks for all the great videos you took the time to make!
Whats good about Marty is that he is an excellent teacher BUT he keeps it fun. The funnier the better for me. GENIUS. Try teaching somehting to someone that is complicated but keeping it fun. Aint easy..
Great song man...thanks for showing this one. I attached a vid post on here, you taught me how to play it and this is the first song I ever tried with bar chords. I only been playing since Christmas but I watch a LOT of your vids, so thanks again!

Dude you are so cool! I have learned so much stuff about playing guitar as well as new songs. You have helped me do things on the guitar I was never able to before!

this is as easy as it gets when explaining a song. I didn't understand anything till I found martys lessons on youtube. I do admit tho that this song would not be the 1st to try if I was a total beginner as the barre chords and strum can be a pain at
