I just got this lens and when you are manual focusing, does it make a good amount of noise? Cause even when I'm manual focusing during video i can hear a lot of noise picked up by the camera (and I can hear it myself as im focusing).
@TheMercAmg If you can afford it get the 18-200 although it is 700-900$... I just got the 55-200 and it is a fantastic lens but the 35mm also seems like a must have because it has a 1.8 aperture so you let in a TON of light and it will let you shoot better in low light. But you should at least get this lens and the 55-200 if nothing else... can't really think of another lens you would need as a novice
So I bought this lens and I freaking love it. It lives on my camera most of the time and the 18-55 and 55-200 VR lenses just sit in the bag collecting dust. This lens is great for the shots of my baby son and for those low light times at home.

I got the 18-55 vr kit lens... is it wort it to get this one ? or should i get the 55-200 ?

I dont think it will be wide enough for what you have in mind. For close up action on a DX camera go at least 18mm wide.

18mm on a DX, meaning 27mm equivalent.
I second this; however, I do have to say the 35mm (~50mm equiv) is much nicer than the 55-200mm all the way out.
