The people of Egypt were responsible for their peaceful revolution, but I think this speech was very important because to the people in the room, who cheered when they felt like it, who laughed when it was funny, and who at times were uncomfortable with some of the things that President Obama said must have felt like he was much closer to the kind of leader they would want to have than Mubarak at the time. This speech shows Obama is willing to sacrifice his approval from some Americans who call him a "muslim" in order to achieve a much greater task of neutralizing the hatred that many muslim countries have towards the US. We should be proud to see him appealing to the rest of the world with an unbias and diplomatic standpoint.

My friends, the problem is NOT religion, It is that the people of the Middle East want democratic rights. They want freedom from fear and poverty. They want equality. They want education for their children. The people of Egypt must help each other. As one weak, individual American, I support the people of Egypt. I admire them. God bless them. Obama is a lier and a traitor. He is not to be trusted. I trusted him once, His supporters and his faked smile made me lower my defenses. I trusted him. Unfortunately, their are some on the extreme right that have some much hate in them that if Obama found a cure for cancer tomorrow they would find something to criticize him for it. Is is sad but true. Thankfully those that feel that way are few. They just have loud voices. Even though I didn't vote for George Bush. After 9/11 I along with 99% of the American public with the exception of left wing nuts. Invading Iraq changed me.

It is not a religious struggle. The people of Egypt were responsible for their peaceful revolution, but I think this speech was very important because to the people in the room, who cheered when they felt like it, who laughed when it was funny, and who at times were uncomfortable with some of the things that President Obama said must have felt like he was much closer to the kind of leader they would want to have than Mubarak at the time. You can feel the energy of this audience, who were hungry for something more thoughtful.
