@IndividualParties :> The Vietnam War[A 3] was a Cold War-era military conflict that occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia from 1 November 1955[A 1] to the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975. In sending them in 1973, they were there to enforce the Paris Peace Accords. Did they shoot anyone, I don't know. Did Canada send troops to Vietnam YES THEY DID ! ! ! if you wish to try to rewrite history, you are the one looking like someone not doing RESEARCH. Really the name calling shows your level.
@mpl632 You just proved my point. Ann never got schooled, I proved the point and you wish to debate. Fine someone that believes everything someone say as yourself. Canada DID SEND TROOPS DURING THE WAR. Did one Canadian fire one bullet while over there, I don't know. Was there a canadian over there YES. You and the commenter are wrong on this. Do the research ! ! >
@IndividualParties >> Its is funny that when one has been shown the error of their statement and the statement of others, one reply is to call names as they can't debate the FACT ! ! ! Canada did sent TROOPS (plural) and for peace keeping( meaning the ability to FIRE / SHOOT someone). So as to SCHOOLING, one who makes a factual statement is not being schooled.
Funny people wish to argue when the facts clearly show that Canada DID send troops to Viet Nam. When you try to make a fact different that what the fact is, YOU BECOME WRONG. If more than two ACTIVE CANADIAN soldiers showed up with the ability to fire a weapon and in military uniform then Ann was correct. Being that Canada sent tyroops to ENFORCE ( key word here is ENFORCE) the Paris Peace Accords, then Canada sent troops with the ability to fire weapons. SO Ann was CORRECT.
@mpl632 yes, but not to the Vietnam War itself, and it was not to support the Americans, and thats what they´re talking about here retard. btw its obvious that she thought that they had sent thousands of troops, otherwise she would´ve said what the troops were for, and when they got sent, something like "actually they did send a peacekeeping force in the end of the war" but she didnt.
LOL, they sent less than 300 peacekeepers in 1973. You expect me to believe Ann Coulter was alluding to that? LOL, yeah right, she thought that Canada fought the war with the United States like in WWII, period. Pointing to a handful of peacekeepers in 1973 is just desperation at its worst. It's funny how desperate the coulter apologists are to find some sign of Canadian involvement in the vietnam fiasco, no matter how tiny. Anything to protect the neocon guru.
I think Canada DID send soldiers. Google has many references to this. Funny that people wish to argue facts when the facts make them look stupid. Whether peace keepers or not, Canada sent troops in 1973 to ENFORCE the Pris PEACE Accords. NO they didn't do any of the day to day fighting in the jungle as Americans did, but never the less, Canada sent troops if they sent more than one. Get over yourself. Ann was correct ! ! ! !
How hard would it be for her to know that Thomas Jefferson was President of the United States. She insisted on a show that he was never President. She was probably too busy looking in a mirror or hiking her skirt up in 8th grade history class and missed that unimportant detail about one the founding fathers.
Sorry but shes right . Yeah news anchor wwill tell you the truth Wake the fuck up plz.Ohh and that reasurance at the end oh yeah buddy. Victor Levant revealed in his book "Quiet Complicity: Canadian Involvement in the Vietnam War" (1986) the reality was not exactly so.
@chestateegold No chestateegold......what a dumbass! Coulter was right on. Canada DID in fact send troops to vietnam jackass!!! Look it up on Wikipedia! LMAO!
If the news says it, then you morons believe it as solid gold truth! When will you idiots get tired of being lied to & do a little research for yourselves? Any wonder Barrack fucking Obama got elected?? DURRRRRH!!!!!!
the only troops sent there were at the very end for enforcing the paris peace accord. they never sent troops there to fight in the war effort. coulter is simply wrong
idk why youre saying i voted for obama or am a liberal... been right wing forever. please grow up and have a big boy conversation.
she said that they were one of our biggest allies in vietnam... no they werent. they didnt help with the war effort at all. all that they did was help with the peace accord, which wasnt supporting the war, as she has said. the average person can figure that out... but i have a feeling im arguing with a preteen.
@chestateegold LOL! Allies don't mean they have to help you fight a fucking war! France wasn't in Iraq. Are they therefore our enemie? You're a complete MORON! Talk about preteens?
What part of the interviewers comment "Like Iraq, Canada sent NO TROOPS to Vietnam"?
Look jerk. Spew all the insults you want & play all the semantics you want. It Does NOT make you right. If you think Ann is wrong & the interviewer is right, well there just isn't much hope for your intellect. You LOSE!
look, i will reiterate. she was insinuating that they sent troops to help us fight. that is undeniable. and it is also wrong. end of story. "canada sent troops to vietnam, was vietnam less containable and more of a threat?" this is showing that she thinks that canada sent troops to help in containing and reducing threats from vietnam.
he says that they didnt send troops to vietnam because they didnt send troops for the war effort in vietnam, as they are comparing it to how canada wouldnt send troops to iraq. these are the facts.
oh.. and there was a 15 knot crosswind. and that is what happens when you have a little plane and 35 hours flying time.
@chestateegold Look. Lets just agree to disagree. We are going nowhere. I'm not changing my mind & you apparenty aren't changing yours but if this was in a court of law, Coulter wins hands down!!!
I wasn't ragging on your flying. Just giving you some advice. I was an instructor for 3 years.........Authough it may feel like it, the plane isn't going to go off course. Everyone overcorrects when new. You're just making your ride rougher. Chill on the control inputs & ride it out.
on account of how you cant make a single logical rebuttle to any of my comments, im afraid that im forced to disagree. but whatever... you can blindly support whoever you want.
and yah, i guess it will just come with practice. my landings are usually pretty smooth as long as i dont have a x wind.
Canada sent troops to Vietnam as peacekeepers to oversea ceasefire agreements. They were not aligned to any particular country. Which makes her argument that Canada was a loyal ally to the USA in Vietnam unbelievably stupid. Anybody who passed grade 4 should know this.
Canada used to be one of America's most loyal friends. I mean, we even sent invisible Canadian Commandos to Vietnam. If only we still had some invisible commandos now :(
BTW Canada IS in the Iraq war even when Chretien told the CBC we did not have troops in Iraq.
Just for the record, Trudeau mocked our troops in WW2 by wearing a Nazi helmet in Quebec because Hitler was not the problem of France. OOOOPs, then came June of 1940 when the French surrendered once again with their mint condition WW1 weapons from the last surrender.
@Wouldman2 u moron, trudeau came into office in 1968...during 1940, he was like 20 and no one new who he was...he was just another person studying at Harvard, it was in the 1950s that he was becoming popular..
anything he did before that, that he did not bring into office, is insignificant...
Canada did send up to 3000 soldiers to Viet nam , do your history research for the facts of what happened because the CBC doesn't even use their own archives for research as shown in the Maher Arar claim of Torture. Arar first said the USA was nice, then after being tortured in JORDAN for 14 days, he did go home to Syria for a Military trial. The NDP refuses to talk about the missing-14 days.
@Wouldman2 You're an idiot. Try getting your facts right when trying to correct someone. Canada sent a few peacekeeping troops to Vietnam to enforce the Paris Peace Accords, after the major fighting and after the U.S. had begun pulling out. Canadians who fought in Vietnam had moved to the U.S. to join the military, opposite Americans who went to Canada to avoid being drafted.
Despite the repeated denials by CBC's interviewer, Canada DID send troops to Vietnam as part of the International Control Commission for Vietnam, a neutral body meant to oversee and report on the peace deal that ended the first indochina war (French vs. Vietminh. The facts are well-documented and beyond dispute. The interviewer constantly repeats his assertions, but no other source supports them.
@bstratocaster Coulter's uncertainty shows that her statement was a mere presumption, as during this interview she did not know the specifics of Canada's involvement in Vietnam. And besides that, the point she was attempting to prove was that the Canadian government endorsed America during this war and therefore their waning support in recent times indicates some sort of betrayal. The Canadian government's so-called loyalty to America cannot be proven by an international peacekeeping mission.
her "uncertainty" was giving her opponent the benefit of the doubt I have seen her do it a number of times when she in fact was correct yet leaving room for "hey maybe I am wrong here" because you know someone will ponce on her on youtube or katie curic for having said something not completely correct and then be called a liar so she is covering her butt
@bstratocaster So... basically what you are saying is thatCoulter is "covering her butt" by "giving her opponent the benefit of the DOUBT" because she does not know the facts. At least we agree on something.
actually SHE has consistently had the facts right when her opponent in this case did not. However to say "I know everything and every fact about every war and everything under the sun would be a little presumptious even for Ann...thus "hey maybe you are right but you better check your facts because i am willing to bet you are wrong" and in youtube video after youtube video she has benn the one who was correct!
@bstratocaster Obviously she had no idea what she was talking about because the fact that Canada sent peacekeeping troops is completely irrelevant to the argument she was making. If Canada sent troops to fight alongside the Americans in Vietnam, this would have proven her point, but Canada did not. She should know the facts before attempting to debate about the Canadian government's alleged American loyalties.
During the Cold War, Canada was firmly allied with the mainstream Western powers. For instance, Canada was a founding member of NATO, and was instrumental in the forming of that military alliance against the Soviet Union and its satellites. Canada's foreign policy was also committed to multilateralism and the United Nations,
Canadian industry exported military supplies and raw materials useful in their manufacture, including ammunition, napalm and Agent Orange,[3] to the United States, as trade between the two countries carried on unhindered by considerations of the purposes to which these exports were being put. Although these exports were sales by Canadian companies, not gifts from the Canadian government, they benefitted the American war effort, nonetheless
You can spin it anyway you like they were involed and were on US side but canada like the swiss likes to think they are above all this war stuff and so does it very carefully though as time went on they did not fully agree with america on the issue so in terms of ann and the guy debating her thye both could be right all depends on how you want to spin it and YOU OBVIOUSLY WANT TO SPIN IT THAT ANN IS WRONG NO MATTER WHAT!
I am not arguing that Canada did not support America. I am merely stating that the evidence Coulter provides in this interview doesn't prove this, and thus the argument that she was right about Canadian troops being sent to Vietnam is fruitless.
Just to clarify, I do not hate Ann Coulter. I just want to point out that it is foolish to defend her in this particular situation.
Next time you copy and past information from an internet source, be sure to delete the links to end notes because it makes you appear incapable of forming your own arguments.
delete the links to end notes because it makes you appear incapable of forming your own arguments.
Ah spoken like a true liberal when they are cornered they always come out calling names.
There was no pretense of those being my own arguements I was trying to hide links I do not remember vietnam or anything about Canada other than people left US to go to canada because they had no draft
The fact is that Canadians did send some peace keeping troops to Vietnam - but they weren't there "Officially" - I know this cause we have a family friend that was actually over there with the Canadian Military during that time was was injured by a grenade fragment..... Coulter is still a douchebag.
We did send damn troops and help, Jesus Christ my own fucking grandfather was enlisted but rejected because he was partially deaf. Just because we didn't go around with a big red leaf on a flag doesn't mean we didn't help. I can't freaking believe the bull the media pulls out of their asses.
Despite the repeated denials by CBC's interviewer, Canada DID send troops to Vietnam as part of the International Control Commission for Vietnam, a neutral body meant to oversee and report on the peace deal that ended the first indochina war (French vs. Vietminh. @dutchroll MAKE UP YOUR MIND DID THEY OR DIDNT THEY ... Canada itself did not send troops, except for a very small "peacekeeping" force for a very short period. goof ball the dip shit said Canada never sent troops! yes or no! the answer is yes! Canada deployed troops in 1973 and yes it was for quote unquote peace. the dip shit is wrong and Ann is right.
@a1saouse Talk about splitting hairs! I already said in my original post they sent a token peacekeeping force for a very short period. Coulter's implication is clearly that Canada "sent troops" in terms of a major, significant, or lasting deployment, which is, always has been, and will forever remain........bullshit. Yeah sure, we can all agree that Canada technically "sent troops" to Vietnam if they so much as sent an admin clerk and a security dog for a week but that wasn't what Coulter meant.
@dutchroll MY BAD I DIDNT READ YOUR COMMENT- we can all agree that Canada technically sent troops" to Vietnam...... but that wasn't what Coulter meant. WELL ARE we TALKING ABOUT WHAT ANN MEANT no! all these videos have something in common( the title) ."Ann got owned or look how retard Ann is" not because of what she meant but because what she said. CANADA SENT TROOPS TO VIETNAM-THEN THE SCHMUCK SAYS NO! CANADA NEVER SENT TROOPS TO VIETNAM,WHEN WE ALL KNOW THEY DID FOR WHAT EVER REASON-THATS ALL
@senjahcore take it easy Rambo... why would you even begin to compare the Vietnam war, with todays war. Or peace keepers now, to peace keepers then? we are talking 1968,most soldiers in Vietnam were stoner's , pot heads. they were confused. no one knew why they were in Vietnam fighting this war. just like most soldiers dont know why they're fighting now. for example you!-you dont know why your fighting in the middle east! do you? coarse you don't, cz if you did you wouldn't post such nonsense.
@senjahcore i do like my chances against you. you see you forget that I'm a citizen of this country and your a gunny. soldiers are out ranked by the u.s American citizens of which I am. the day a foreign country threatens me, my family, my friends, this nation and the security of this nation?.... then and only then will you be put to good use! until then, you need to shut your mouth! and hurry up and wait for your orders. IN THE MEAN TIME, RUN OUT AND CLEAN OUT THE LATRINE.
@senjahcore THE DISRESPECTFUL ONE IS YOU. i love my country and as a citizen i know where i stand. and your right, i am a conservative on my way to be a socialist. you forget that before you get ticked off at me you should get ticked off at all the American soldiers that are going a-wall, moving to Canada or Mexico cz these soldiers found out about 911 being an inside job. fight those traders first then come fight me. -another thing your comments have not in any way put me up against any wall!
@senjahcore what happen to the fags you fought this war with? cz the American military lets queers into the military now don't they. who did you hold hands with in this war. turns out a queer probably could have saved your life at one point. or vise versa and why would i bomb Ethiopia if your the gunny? you be sure to clean the toilets real good, i want it so that god himself would be proud to take a dump in this toilet. only after a good shit will he have time to hear your prayers.
@senjahcore the one true living god? your a fool.150 unites is small potatoes.who cares about Fallujah and why you were their, what did you being their have to do with America and the citizens.you were their for the personal gain of a couple of authorities.and what makes you think I'm not tired of this shit? you think that just cz your military man we need to respect you. our gov treats you like shit, why should we the citizens treat you any different. in the 60's we would have spat on you; Gunny!
@senjahcore WE ALL HAVE TO DIE SOME TIME... some of us as fools, others as cowards. to be ready for a fight is a lot different then to be ready to die. the military doesn't teach you how to get ready for death. ask yourself, are you ready to die. there is no proof of your god so their fore life after death is still debatable, kinda like this video, are you ready to die all cz of a video? ask yourself that.... tell you what? give me your address and I'll come over there. since your so godly.
@senjahcore "You are not too good to be killed. You can be taken out" END QUOTE... I ASKED YOU FOR YOUR ADDRESS WHEN YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND .... refrain from wasting a1 time. And these people that you say can have me killed, have them help you post better comments. you schmuck.
More than 30,000 Canadians volunteered to fight in SE Asia according to wikipedia. More than 100 were killed and there is a memorial for them in Canada.
Between 28 January 1973 and 31 July 1973, Canada provided 240 peacekeeping troops to Operation Gallant, the peace keeping operation associated with the International Commission of Control and Supervision (ICCS) Vietnam, along with Hungary, Indonesia, and Poland.[1] Their role was to monitor the cease-fire in South Vietnam per the Paris Peace Accords.[15] After Canadas departure from the Commission, it was replaced by Iran.
"Finally, the Canadian government listened to its Vietnam Vets. In 1995, the North Wall found a permanent home in Windsor, Ontario. It is a great tribute to those Canadians who served and sacrificed all for what they believed in."
Once again Annie is speaking from her ass. I don't know another person in the world that is a bigger hypocritical bitch than her. Well, maybe Bill O but it has to be a tie.
How is she speaking from her ass, she is absolutely right! Canada did send troops in vietnam and some of them have lost their lives. Some Canadians also voluntered to go in and fight. This is a fact.
Hey MORONS!!! Despite the repeated denials by CBC's interviewer, Canada DID send troops to Vietnam. The facts are well-documented and beyond dispute. The Canadian government sent troops to Vietnam in August 1954 during the partition of Vietnam. They stayed through January 1973. They incurred casualties and several deaths. Confirmation and further details appear in the articles on International Control Commission and International Commission of Control and Supervision.
I am Canadian, and have worked as a CF reserve for 2yrs, asshole. Let me guess your a typical republican moron, who doesn't value facts and reason but rather their own ideological preference. You should look at the facts because you are making a false assertion, Canada did not declare war in Vietnam.
"Despite the repeated denials by CBC's interviewer, Canada DID send troops to Vietnam." -BigFK
"A declaration of war is a formal performative speech act or signing of a document by an authorised party of a government in order to initiate a state of war between two or more nations." -wiki
"The Canadian government sent troops to Vietnam in August 1954 during the partition of Vietnam. They stayed through January 1973. They incurred casualties and several deaths.... The facts are well documented and without dispute." -Wiki
A country can send in troops without a declaration of war. The US has done it numerous times! Remember, Canada tried to stay impartial toward the Vietnam conflict.
Yeah... your source of facts is wiki? How on Earth can we dispute irrefutable information like that? And to show us the Earth is round you're going to use the big picture book of elementary science? Show us the facts, you're just shouting here. When it comes down to it, the Vietnamese recognise the US flag, I doubt they'd recgonise a Canadian flag.
"The ICCS medal was awarded for 90 days service with the Commission between 28 January 1973 and 31 July 1973.....
Canada contributed 240 Canadian Forces personnel and 50 officials from the Department of External Affairs. The ICCS operated until 30 April 1975, two years after the Canadians withdrew."-Dept. of Veterans Affairs, CANADA
I'm still trying to figure out why ya'll are talking about Vietnam after Robert McNamira admitted it was a false flag to get the United States to go to war for the benifit of the Military Industrial Complex? Research that.
This comment was helpful. After watching this vid I looked into it. And I did find a Canadian Vietnam Veterans Association as well as The Canadian Vietnam Veterans Memorial Association. So the only error she made was saying that they "sent" troops, when I guess they instead had volunteered.
No she said CANADA as a Nation was at war with Vietnam. Canadian Citizens joined the US military for service in Vietnam, some lost their lives.
The Canadian Forces did Deploy Peacekeepers to Vietnam in 1973 under the UN banner. Still that deployment does not mean she is right as she was implying that Canada sent Soldiers to fight in the war.
I have a question. If they didn't fight in vietnam then why do they have a Canadian Vietnam Veterans Association. And why did I find this: The Canadian Vietnam Veterans Memorial Association was created to recognize the efforts of those Canadians who chose to serve with the United States Forces during the Vietnam War. Between 1959 and 1975 approximately 40,000 Canadians did embark on a journey that would forever change their lives. Some never returned.
Ann Coulter is just another fake conservative NEOCON warmonger. Sucker the social conservatives in and then push for what is really sacred to the NEOCONS-more War for Oil and Israel. Also we need an investigation into 911. You Tube WTC 7 Collapse and it looks like a controlled demolition. Also there were many reporters that day reporting explosions inside the buildings. You Tube WTC 7Collapse. It only takes a minute.
an abandoned well, a small white dog, some lotion, some rope, a basket and Goodbye Horses performed by Q Lazarus....and I will improve Coulter's attitude eventually.
Even though the support from the people of Canada for the war on terror is dwindling, they have committed alot more than many other NATO countries and I think we should be very grateful for what they have done, I am. It is going to take the whole civilized world to stop those willing to murder innocent people, unfortunately there are alot of countries who only want the benefits from NATO membership, not the responsibilities of it too.
From what I have read, the Canadian military monitored DMZs and complicance with peace agreements during the Vietnam War, that was their role, but some Canadians also volunteered and fought in US military units in Vietnam. I think that there is a Canadian Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Ontario. Also I have read that the Canadian troops fighting in Afghanistan know how to kick butt and the US troops are glad they are on our side. It seems to me that many French Canadians have never liked the US.
It's been proven by Lou Sanders and others. Just search wikip and you'll see plenty of evidence. What a shame, this guy lied right to her face to try to make her wrong. Glad you stuck to your guns ANN!!
Canadian CITIZENS enlisted in US armed forces to go to Vietnam, but Canada proper committed no troops to fight in Vietnam or anywhere else in Indochina.
(Technically) Many Americans believe that Canada played no part in the Vietnam War. Nothing could be further from the truth. Though the Canadian government tried its best to remain neutral, Canadians themselves became involved. It is believed that Canadian enlistment in the US Army during the Vietnam era far surpassed the 30,000 who fled as draft dodgers to Canada.
Canadian Prime Minister said that the shipment of weapons directly to Vietnam "would be incompatible with our role" as impartial observer in Vietnam. Therefore Canada shipped its weapons and related equipment to the U.S.,
Ann likes to be sarcastic and witty but too many people take her way too seriously. Read one of her books and you'll see what I mean. To make a point, she likes to use sarcasm, but she is a great person who is passionate about our Republic. There isn't any reason to hate her.
I agree with your last point, there is very rarely in life a reason to hate anyone. If only Ms. Coulter would follow that belief system. She is a very passionate woman who, like most people in politics is concerned with winning an arguement, not truth. She has lied, and used mis quotes, and proved her limited morals many times. That makes me dislike her and not agree with her. not hate her. I dont think she has done anything to garner hate
Kidsaline, I feel sorry for you. saying ridiculous things just to see if you'll get a reaction out of people. And if you really do think that Canada has it's head up it's ass, then maybe you should take the cock out of yours and watch the news some time. Canada is far more aware of the world than America
I love people like Ann. Self-righteous, stupid bigots with a lot of guts. They have nothing to say, but they will say it out loud, thinking they have a point. Can you not love her?
Sorry, there was no discussion as to whether the troops were combat or otherwise. Ann is correct that Canada sent troops. That is all she said. I also would like to see her eat a big mac with large fries and wash it down with a supersized coke. Ann is way too thin.
Ooohhhhh, That was damn funny! I am still chuckling! Seriously. It's the kind of joke you wouldn't think to make about her because of the content of video is focused on this bigot's ignorance, so the joke is both surprising and fantastic.
Indo China? That's what happens "Mann", when you don't eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In the context of the interview, it was understood that they were talking about combat troops. The whole reason for the interview is that she said she wanted to "Crush" the Canadians for not sticking by us in Iraq, like she was told by the voices within her head re.: Vietnam. She is just another ignorant big mouth, who doesn't think before speaking. She had no clue and was grasping @ whatever, obviously.
She said "Canada sent troops to Vietnam". He said "Canada did not send troops to Vietnam". There was no mention as to whether the troops were combat troops. She is correct and he is wrong. I hope he got back to her with an appology. I also hope he takes a class on Canadian history.
You fuckin' dickheaded jackass, what do troops do ; do they clean ur attic or do they give 10 cents massages to Arabic Sheikhs ???? I think u have to be the most retarded person ever to comment.... Seriously dude, where were you when God was distributing brains ??? Maybe u were getting Ann Coulter toilet paper so she could wipe her ass and make u eat it.... Dipshit !!!
Sorry ape brain but you are wrong. The question was did Canada send troops to Vietnam? Answer is Yes! Ann is correct. Have you never heard of peace keeping troops?? Why don't you try reading a news paper before you post something really stupid.
Well, I really can't stand her, but she is right. Sort of. Canada did, in fact, send peacekeeping troops in 1973, and was involved in the peacekeeping efforts after the French left. So, they are both asses. He's wrong, and she seems to be exagerating Canada's involvement. But technically, yes, Canada did send troops to Vietnam.
shes still an idiot. maybe intelligent, but morally and psychologically backwards, especially using terms like "roll over and crush" Canada.....nobody should be willing to flaunt that much power unless you want another totalitarian regime mentally.
No, they didn't send troops. They sent peacekeepers who went over there under the UN banner. The only Canadians to go as "troops" to Vietnam did so by enlisting in the US Military. And please, "You go girl!" is too retro for us living in this century. :)
Good point genius. I think they were in fact professional snow boarders. Either that or they were the Maple leaf's farm team. You are so knowledgeable about important topics that I hope you post again.

she said that they were one of our biggest allies in vietnam... no they werent. they didnt help with the war effort at all. all that they did was help with the peace accord, which wasnt supporting the war, as she has said. the average person can figure that out... but i have a feeling im arguing with a preteen.

@chestateegold LOL! Allies don't mean they have to help you fight a fucking war! France wasn't in Iraq. Are they therefore our enemie? You're a complete MORON! Talk about preteens?

look, i will reiterate. she was insinuating that they sent troops to help us fight. that is undeniable. and it is also wrong. end of story. "canada sent troops to vietnam, was vietnam less containable and more of a threat?" this is showing that she thinks that canada sent troops to help in containing and reducing threats from vietnam.
chestateegold 1 year ago
@flyboymd82
he says that they didnt send troops to vietnam because they didnt send troops for the war effort in vietnam, as they are comparing it to how canada wouldnt send troops to iraq. these are the facts.

Canada sent troops to Vietnam as peacekeepers to oversea ceasefire agreements. They were not aligned to any particular country. Which makes her argument that Canada was a loyal ally to the USA in Vietnam unbelievably stupid. Anybody who passed grade 4 should know this.

@Wouldman2 u moron, trudeau came into office in 1968...during 1940, he was like 20 and no one new who he was...he was just another person studying at Harvard, it was in the 1950s that he was becoming popular..
anything he did before that, that he did not bring into office, is insignificant...
blacklight019 1 year ago
Canada did send up to 3000 soldiers to Viet nam , do your history research for the facts of what happened because the CBC doesn't even use their own archives for research as shown in the Maher Arar claim of Torture. Arar first said the USA was nice, then after being tortured in JORDAN for 14 days, he did go home to Syria for a Military trial. The NDP refuses to talk about the missing-14 days.
Wouldman2 1 year ago
@Wouldman2 You're an idiot. Try getting your facts right when trying to correct someone. Canada sent a few peacekeeping troops to Vietnam to enforce the Paris Peace Accords, after the major fighting and after the U.S. had begun pulling out. Canadians who fought in Vietnam had moved to the U.S. to join the military, opposite Americans who went to Canada to avoid being drafted.

the facts are ANN WAS RIGHT
Despite the repeated denials by CBC's interviewer, Canada DID send troops to Vietnam as part of the International Control Commission for Vietnam, a neutral body meant to oversee and report on the peace deal that ended the first indochina war (French vs. Vietminh. The facts are well-documented and beyond dispute. The interviewer constantly repeats his assertions, but no other source supports them.
bstratocaster 1 year ago
@bstratocaster Coulter's uncertainty shows that her statement was a mere presumption, as during this interview she did not know the specifics of Canada's involvement in Vietnam. And besides that, the point she was attempting to prove was that the Canadian government endorsed America during this war and therefore their waning support in recent times indicates some sort of betrayal. The Canadian government's so-called loyalty to America cannot be proven by an international peacekeeping mission.
syggelekokIe 1 year ago
her "uncertainty" was giving her opponent the benefit of the doubt I have seen her do it a number of times when she in fact was correct yet leaving room for "hey maybe I am wrong here" because you know someone will ponce on her on youtube or katie curic for having said something not completely correct and then be called a liar so she is covering her butt
bstratocaster 1 year ago
@bstratocaster So... basically what you are saying is thatCoulter is "covering her butt" by "giving her opponent the benefit of the DOUBT" because she does not know the facts. At least we agree on something.
syggelekokIe 1 year ago
actually SHE has consistently had the facts right when her opponent in this case did not. However to say "I know everything and every fact about every war and everything under the sun would be a little presumptious even for Ann...thus "hey maybe you are right but you better check your facts because i am willing to bet you are wrong" and in youtube video after youtube video she has benn the one who was correct!
bstratocaster 1 year ago
@bstratocaster Obviously she had no idea what she was talking about because the fact that Canada sent peacekeeping troops is completely irrelevant to the argument she was making. If Canada sent troops to fight alongside the Americans in Vietnam, this would have proven her point, but Canada did not. She should know the facts before attempting to debate about the Canadian government's alleged American loyalties.
syggelekokIe 1 year ago
During the Cold War, Canada was firmly allied with the mainstream Western powers. For instance, Canada was a founding member of NATO, and was instrumental in the forming of that military alliance against the Soviet Union and its satellites. Canada's foreign policy was also committed to multilateralism and the United Nations,
bstratocaster 1 year ago
Canadian industry exported military supplies and raw materials useful in their manufacture, including ammunition, napalm and Agent Orange,[3] to the United States, as trade between the two countries carried on unhindered by considerations of the purposes to which these exports were being put. Although these exports were sales by Canadian companies, not gifts from the Canadian government, they benefitted the American war effort, nonetheless
bstratocaster 1 year ago
You can spin it anyway you like they were involed and were on US side but canada like the swiss likes to think they are above all this war stuff and so does it very carefully though as time went on they did not fully agree with america on the issue so in terms of ann and the guy debating her thye both could be right all depends on how you want to spin it and YOU OBVIOUSLY WANT TO SPIN IT THAT ANN IS WRONG NO MATTER WHAT!
bstratocaster 1 year ago
I am not arguing that Canada did not support America. I am merely stating that the evidence Coulter provides in this interview doesn't prove this, and thus the argument that she was right about Canadian troops being sent to Vietnam is fruitless.
Just to clarify, I do not hate Ann Coulter. I just want to point out that it is foolish to defend her in this particular situation.

@a1saouse Talk about splitting hairs! I already said in my original post they sent a token peacekeeping force for a very short period. Yeah sure, we can all agree that Canada technically "sent troops" to Vietnam if they so much as sent an admin clerk and a security dog for a week but that wasn't what Coulter meant.

For God's sake, Ann: EAT A BURGER!

I also hope he takes a class on Canadian history.

vishalpatel52 3 years ago
Sorry ape brain but you are wrong. The question was did Canada send troops to Vietnam? Answer is Yes! Ann is correct. Have you never heard of peace keeping troops?? Why don't you try reading a news paper before you post something really stupid.

Ann made it sound like it was a fighting troop that Canada sent and not a foreign aid troop.

Ann, of course, is correct. In 1973 Canada sent troops to Vietnam as part of a peace keeping effort. You go girl!
cujo10101 3 years ago
Well, I really can't stand her, but she is right. Sort of. Canada did, in fact, send peacekeeping troops in 1973, and was involved in the peacekeeping efforts after the French left. So, they are both asses. He's wrong, and she seems to be exagerating Canada's involvement. But technically, yes, Canada did send troops to Vietnam.

shes still an idiot. maybe intelligent, but morally and psychologically backwards, especially using terms like "roll over and crush" Canada.....nobody should be willing to flaunt that much power unless you want another totalitarian regime mentally.
itsadeepburn 3 years ago 2
No, they didn't send troops. They sent peacekeepers who went over there under the UN banner. The only Canadians to go as "troops" to Vietnam did so by enlisting in the US Military. And please, "You go girl!" is too retro for us living in this century. :)

Good point genius. I think they were in fact professional snow boarders. Either that or they were the Maple leaf's farm team. You are so knowledgeable about important topics that I hope you post again.

I'm just pointing out the facts, kid. Reality can be as much of a bitch as Ann sometimes.
