I was part of 109 Troop way back in 1977. Came out as I had ear problems. Still not sure if that was the right decision. It was the best/worst time of my life. Worst at the time, best when you look back at it. I'm still in contact with my DI from Lympstone. He speaks to me a lot 'sweeter' now haha. I wish you all well.

It really does show when you mix with these guys - there's nothing more they appreciate than people who can take a joke and give as good as they get: make no mistake -they take the piss out of you mercilessly, but laugh like hell when you fight back. I've been lucky enough to meet quite a few of them, and they're just the best.

I ship for USMC Basic in October, and I'd rather have one Royal Marine that knows what the hell he's doing than two hundred armchair warriors who's knowledge of war doesn't extend past Call of Duty.

i expect you got a better chance of passing at 18 rather than 16 because you are more developted.

Yeh you should get that 4 yrs of training in my friend, you'll need it. I was in 7 Commando Royal Artillery but still had to do the commando course,and was based at 45Commando, Condor, Arbroath. Bosnia, N.Ireland, Iraq were all part of my life and you guys who want to join please think twice about what your gonna do coz this aint no summer camp guys. An you can bet ur bottom dollar that Afghanistan is your nxt home. If your sure, then god speed and best wishes, look after your brothers
