  • I loved this movie. Whattheflick has always been the weakest review sites. Jeremy Jahns is better.

  • real steel is awsome you suck

  • @BuckBrotherStudios Agreed!

  • I want you to make a Movie if you know a lot about everything

  • You guys hate Everything

  • You guys hate every thing

  • How give a $#!? this rocks and touch my heart like "ROCKY", you this down and out character, whatever his flaws he rise up to the challenge and the robot too even though it does nothing but take orders but you can it has character. Watch this MOVIE

  • BS review !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! complete opposite off what they said is true

  • This movie was good. Not amazing or life changing but I am not ashamed to say that i found it enjoyable and at times heartwarming.

  • Couldn't disagree more with them. I loved this movie. Jackman is great. Love the relationship between Jackman and the kid and Jackman and Evangeline Lily's character. It was actually surprisingly great. And surprisingly moving at times at too. The look on Lily's face as she starts to tear up at the climax, made me tear up. Loved it.

  • I'd give it a 7 just on the premise it was there for one purpose and it did it well: have robots fight! THE END!

  • Oh come on! These reviewers are stupid. All they want is mindless robot fighting. I thought the movie was actually pretty good.

  • bad review, good movie

  • It's 1:54 not 2:07 you dumb bitch, the credits aren't part of the movie itself, no one commands you to sit through it.

  • uhhh i wish i could take my view count back these reviewers are useless

  • All i know is that this movie sounds like a horrible Metabots live action adaptation >.<

  • I hate HATE Grae

  • What movie did you guys watch!?! This movie was awesome! Yes, the story is as old as dirt, but it was a great redemption movie. At the theater I saw it at everyone - adults, teens and kids - all loved it. On this one Roger Ebert's review was spot on - you guys should check it out and try to see it through a season critics eyes.

  • @kzolly Pay close attention. This is when you notice the difference of a film critic going too meta on a movie and what's actually shown onscreen. Hugh Jackman started as a vile character. He got better. His son got a lot of his bad traits but poured it into robotics. The robots were VERY different from each other and had different styles to boot. So yeah, critics look with a decent eye, but the movie WAS good and I would have loved to buy it right at the theater. Oh well...

  • forreal,, WTF is absolutely the worse movie review people ever,, they really need to stop doing this youtube show,, or change all those people, forrealz

  • Times have changed. Fighting has changed. War has changed. Solid Snake anyone?

  • This is One Must Fall 2097 on film without all the cool aspects.

  • @AvengerXP

    That was a cool-ass game.

  • @AvengerXP Haha, wow, you're right. They should just make that into a movie and do it right.

  • Im suprised the way they are talking about the movie. The movie is for kids and kids will love it if they go see it. They are adults trying to compare the movie to other adult movies but its not that kind of movie. its a movie for kids. i think kids would love it

  • "Pretentious Film Critics Talk About Robot Movie"

Surprised by their opinion? Yeah, I'm not either. I think I'll listen to more YouTube-esque critics more often.

  • Wow. I totally disagree with these 3 reviewers. Just saw the movie, and I'm nowhere near a kid's age. I loved it and want to see it again. Cried 3 times =)

  • @uwabbit I was considering taking your comment as a serious and reliable source until you said you cryed three times while watching it.

Now I just think your a pussy.

  • i agree with these reviewers, i saw the movie before seeing this (should have saw this first). i felt the movie was pretty predictable and slow

  • Just so we are clear, that's 10,000 fighting robotics teams in the UK alone.

  • I thought it was a great movie. I really enjoyed it. But you have to have your expectations that are in line with the movie you are watching. This is not "Citizen Cane", you can't expect it to be.

It was a fun action movie. Keep in mind that TODAY Robot Fighting is real. There are 10,000 robotics teams making battling robots. So, Robot Boxing could be real at some point in the future.

  • these people suck this movies was good

  • Robot boxing is better than human boxing ;)

  • He sold his kid. SOLD HIM.

  • At least the movie was more interesting than this video

  • @ImTooTiMiD I'm betting those 'chubs' can spell and use grammar. It's one of the many advantages of using your brain, you might like to try it some day instead of resorting to childish name calling and whining.

  • Transformers dark of the moon is better than anything these chumps could come up with.

  • you guys are fucking ass holes. this movie isnt supposed to be an "inception" awesomtaculer movie. its EXTREMELY surprising how good this movie really is.

  • @newp13 Inception isn't good anyway so......

  • Going in, I was expecting a craptacular movie, but man, it was pretty enjoyable, and the fighting is actually really REALLY good.

It was formulaic and predictable yes, but 99% of movies are. In fact, when the Kings Speech was following it's rom com script to the tee, nobody seemed to notice, I guess the british accents distracted critics.

You guys shouldn't be allowed to critique certain movies, just like you shouldn't be allowed to critique a hockey game.

  • I enjoyed the movie

  • speak for yourself

  • I couldn't finnish this video these guys didn't get it!

  • Simpsons did it.

  • u guys suk this movie wass awsome

  • ROBOT JOX. anyone remember that?

  • Is there a modern movie these guys actually like?

  • This went exactly as expected.

  • why do these guys always have a negative review about a movie i ever like?

  • Sometimes I just want to go up to certain actors and scream, "What the Fuck are you doing??" Hugh Jackman is an awesome actor starring in a stupid fucking movie. Wolverine deserves better.

  • this movie was crap. not worth freaking 2 hours was corny

  • I loved the movie. Very very well directed. Not sure what you guys were expecting.... an oscar worthy emotional robot drama?

  • You guys are simply not geek enough. I mean, asian type of geek, i.e. Otaku

  • Two hours and seven minutes for a movie about Rock'em Sock'em Robots. Wow.

  • REAL STEEL ORIGIN

Studio Heads: Hugh, wanna do a boxing movie?

Jackman: Fuck no, I'm exhausted from playing wolverine. How about a movie where I play video games while sitting on my ass?

Studio Heads: (a beat) How about we compromise?

  • @Madorem

    makes perfect sense.

  • Real Steel Abridged, nothing but robot fights!

  • Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots: The Movie

  • Fighting robots would never catch on. Why would anyone care about two hunks of metals battling it out?

  • @FDASARO Uh, it's already been done and it was quite successful. It's called battlebots.

  • Well, I liked the movie. I usually agree with the What the Flick crew, but I just don't see where they're coming from. It's like they're 200% more cynical that they usually are. I found the human characters were fleshed out very well, and they carried the emotional side of the movie very well. Also, the cgi absolutely seamless and very believable.

    Go see it!

  • Man Christy Lemire is hott

  • @RevanGabriel Yup I'd definitely motorboat those tits.

  • When I first saw the commercials for this, my first thought was, "Why would anyone want to watch this shit?"

  • The reviewers: WAH IT'S PREDICTABLE AND STUFF AND SAPPY!

    Yeah. It's a kids movie.

  • @RyvenSorane so kids movies have to be pieces of shit by definition? do you hate kids so much that you don't consider them worthy of good entertainment?

  • @dagrimmreepa Super awesome hyperbole, first off. Bravo.

Secondly, no. I'm saying that kids have less of a developed palette for movies than adults do. Ever looked back on some of the cartoons and movies you saw as a little kid? How many of them stood the test of time? How many of them did you cringe at, even though you actively remember enjoying the fuck out of them?

Kids movies aren't (generally) good movies. You don't get to hold them to the same standards as, say, Citizen Cain.

  • Out of all the review I've seen from these guys none have ever been good always giving bad reviews

  • rock em sock em robots?

  • I initially thought the movie was based on an episode of Twilight Zone, where an ex-boxer (Lee Marvin) takes the place of his broken down robot boxer in the ring.

  • I liked the movie.

  • sounds like christy is jealous of evangeline lily !

  • that technology and arena like poor underground madmax arena thing...

  • This was a great movie. It had kick ass fighting robots. What the fuck do you want from a movie with fighting robots??? The father and sone stuff is so that you can get your girlfriend to watch fighting robots without complaining. And I wanna fuck Evangaline lily in the ass.

  • Jim Rome has been clowning this movies for a year now. Every since the trailer cam out.

  • No robot movie needs to be longer than 90 mins.

  • The premise is a rip off of a futurama episode.

  • @athma12 Twilight Zone did it

  • @athma12 You are not correct - and there is proof.

  • @futurestoryteller Go look at the futurama episode where bender joins the ultimate robot fighting league. When bender fought destructor, destructor was controlled by his manager who used a radio control to fight bender.

  • @athma12 I've seen the Twilight Zone, so you may have a point. Eventually I'll have a look at the movie, and the episode, and think on it. It's interesting if you *are* right; the Futurama guys should do something about it, even if it's just making fun of the movie for ripping them off.

  • @athma12 But you should note the difference between a plot element, and a premise, for future reference.

  • @futurestoryteller I agree. Matt Greoning has used episodes of the Twilight Zone for things like the Halloween Specials. So I would not be surprised if he used the Twilight Zone episode in question as a frame of reference or as nod to it. Of course there will be plot differences, but I meant that the premise of a human controlled fighting robot seemed to be a blatant rip off of the episode.

  • I hate these movies with the single father and son, and they have to find a way to bond. The son treats his father like a loser (well where is your mother! she must be dead, else he wouldn't have custody). And then father, gets inspired by his son to do something so they can bond. ZzzzZZZzzz I hate these kinds of movies.

  • Why would anyone want to see this shit?

  • I like the way Alonso said ''Thurree"

  • annoying when movies use actirs and dont let them act.. i mean good actors

  • i thoguht this wuld be a complete retarded movie, from the trailer it looks like they were inspired by transformers, and thats kinda not good

  • Haters!!!!!

  • Episode of the simpsons were homer becomes a robot fighting champion

  • @AlexTheGough an they took it from the 1956 short story "Steel"

  • This movie sucked as i thought...Cheesy title was a big giveaway.

  • @shawnspeed3 Just out of interest, if you thought it would suck, why did you still watch it ?

  • This movie was surprisingly fun and touching. I have never seen a crowd respond so well to a movie before, so I knew it was something special. I'm surprised Matt didn't like it that much. Alonso continues to review movies like a moron.

  • I have trouble listening to criticism of Elfman. It hurts my heart.

  • @dugfriendly Well I disagree. The score is great. And I didn't like the movie.

  • @TheDemonicPenguin Thank you. I can't imagine not liking anything Elfman does. I may need to see the movie just to totally cleanse their bad comment from my memory.

  • The Twilight Zone episode was called "Steel". Lee Marvin starred.

  • i just ignore Alonso because he is a moron when it comes to film.

  • I remember watching this episode of the Twilight Zone. I also remember thinking the idea was mad stupid.

  • Rockem Sockem Robots: The Movie

  • I'd rather someone jizz in my ear than have to sit thru this film.

  • Has one side of Alonso's beard always been greyer than the other? o.O

  • gundum the movie lol

  • @chewey59428 Not at all. If this was trying to rip off Gundam it would be a billion times more kick ass.

  • Rockem Sockem Robots, Battleship. What other childhood toy movies are there gonna be

  • The three best reviewers

  • @KingTekins ben over olonzo i think

  • I got the same feeling as Alonso did from just watching the trailer. It seemed like typical Hollywood, sentimental, predictable pap. Most reviews I've read or heard say the same thing. These kind of movies need to be scaled back and made for smaller budgets. What makes these movies go, what makes them memorable are the storyline, characters and character development. The "kid movies" when I was a kid were far more mature. They all didn't have to have child characters to appeal to kids.

  • im not sure why but i really wanna see this movie, even though it looks as cheesy as steve urkels wet dreams. perhaps its because the story line seems to mimics Over the top with sly stalone
