  • Dead ringer 8D TF2 XD

  • Bitch needs to learn to swim.

  • This game looks terrible; it punishes you for exploring? Isn't it an adventure game?

  • @APAKane Not precisely, more like a detective one. Sierra is best known for doing things like this. In other words, these games and their "deaths" simply tell you to watch where you're going or doing before doing that again. Also it's the only franchise I know that misadventuring easily leads your character to death, and you're literally PUN-ished for it.

  • @kingdomcome3914 What exactly is 'misadventuring'?

  • @APAKane If you are talking about this game'd defeinition of "misadventuring", I can tell you is that misadventuring in what I mean for this game would be more like snooping in the wrong place at the worst time, taking a shower, lingering around, going for a "swim(?)", being crushed by an elevator, that sort of thing.

  • That shower death scene is just awesome considering the graphics.

  • skurwysyństwo...

  • I wonder what happens when you randomly type "die" in the command box... o.e

  • LOL @ 2:09: Oh Chute= Oh shit! XDXDXD

  • LOL @ 4:41 I want a flickering tombstone like that!

  • Comment removed

  • Much like King's Quest and Space Quest, you not only die, but you get pun-ished for doing so.

  • My game never had music. Lol, I like the dinosaur bones in her first death.

  • Amazing video dude. Well done!.

  • It's funny in some deaths with her eyes. Like the ones in "That's what you get for snooping, Laura!"

  • 7:40 Nobody wants to see your ass, Laura. Neither does the killer.

  • Heh heh, got the shaft.

  • everyone looks like they just got back from a week at the beach without sunscreen

  • One thing that's for sure. Sierra likes to recycle a lot of deaths. You can pretty much expect to be killed if you see a snake, a rat, a scorpion, a woman, or a car.

  • Even Prince Alexander was less pitiful than this girl...

  • awsome death music

  • when i sees these death scenes i feel so sad :(

  • The death at 3:03, in Hercrabbiness's walkthrough it squashes Laura down to her legs and she runs into the tree and falls over. Is there just more than one animation for the same death?

  • @beatchef Yeah, there's more than one animation. The one with her getting smashed to her legs is an easter egg that's HARD to get.

  • @MrWhitman I didn't know that the bell death was an easter egg. I just replayed the game and got it twice in a row (the one where she runs around after being crushed until she hits the tree). The first time I did it just to see it; the second time I thought I had her in the right position, then she ran under the bell and it happened again. Maybe it has something to do with where she was standing or even, strangely enough, that Ethel was on screen during both deaths.

  • @MrWhitman Really. I swear EVERYTIME I get that easter egg death. I still have not seen the original Southern Belle death while I was playing it.

  • @MrWhitman It's hard to get? I've only ever gotten the squished death. How do you get the one shown in this video?

  • These are perfect examples of how ridiculously unfair Sierra adventure games could be!

Awesome games, but killing off the player at nearly any opportunity is awful design.

  • 6:15 I never saw this before cool

    Very nice artist.

  • That last one reminded me of clock tower for some reason (yeah, I know it's a reference to the film psyco).

  • Yeah that also fits perfectly. Interesting, the name of the dead woman under the shower in Clock Tower is also Laura :D and then scissorman appears...

  • Clock Tower as in the awesome Japanese SNES game?

  • @Squiglypig You got it.

    That's the one.

The struggle within and clock tower 3 were no good.

Well, 3 is a completly different style of gameplay.

  • Yeah... Clock Tower 3 wasn't even a Clock Tower game.. It was a totally different series D:

  • this game gave me the creeps when i played this at the age of ten

  • I never knew about the elevator crushing.

  • @slicknickxp I thought she was being ground between the gate and the elevator.

  • you have to walk directly in the middle of the carpet

  • 2:32 it never happened to me. I'm still figuring out what do you have to do to see this death screen

  • @BeWaTer99 There is a random chance that this will happen whenever you walk on that spot. But it doesn't happen every time; just like the person who sometimes grabs you and kills you when you open the cupboard on the landing.

  • best game EVER...since conquests of camelot xD

  • man this game can give u a nice ear ache

  • 7:53 psicosis? o.o

  • Anything can kill you. Fact.

  • The last death: just plain stupid to take a shower in a murder mystery. XD

  • The stairs she fell down and died in the video are to a secret passage. In order to go down safely, you've got to have the lantern lit and ready and yes there is an elevator but it's in the colonol's room.

  • This game reminds me of the Angry Video Game Nerd's review of Silver surfer: Walk in the middle of the hall you die, walk down the stairs you die, walk around the attic you die, touch the bell you die, go in the attic door you die, take a shower you die!

  • Dang. Video game characters have it rough! Remind me not to agree to be in one XD Lol like I ever would be asked though.

So, a question: if you can't take the stairs then how do you get anywhere? Is there an elevator? That seems like a possible way to die too though. I don't know how I'd figure it out.

  • True, but it also adds to the fun. It's so easy to save the game and restore.

  • heh. love that game.

  • 0:42 you'd think you'd hear an elevator coming...

  • 4:38 Nearly had a heart attack when I found out for the first time that you could die by opening that door. I used to open that door quite many times but there was nothing. :D

  • When I first played this I was particularly annoyed by the chandelier death. What the fjoerk is the point of it?

  • A nod to Poltergeist? No not really; I don't know. Just to be dramatic maybe? There are lots of chandelier scenes; Phantom of the Opera, Poltergeist...other ghost movies in general. It could just be popular to do too.

  • What do you see when you can cross the broken bridge?(Sorry for my English)

  • You can never cross the bridge.

  • Knowing Sierra, you'd probably just killed by a swamp monster or the creature from the black lagoon.

  • Oh God, why the southern Belle reference. It gave me the creeps in Uninvited.

"Axeually, oiling the arm wasn't such a good idea' (Just a joke I made up)

By the way, is it just me, or is the death music in this game sarcastic?

    But that's my opinion.

    Good video

  • Heh heh, you're right. The music is quite sarcastic sounding.

  • Yeah, the music irritates me T_T

It´s fine until the final note that just seems to keep on going and going X_X

  • Huh, I thought there were more ways to die than this...

Shower scene was definitely the best death though, I'm glad you saved it for last =3

  • i'm pretty sure it was a nod to "Psycho", along with the line, "Didn't Alfred teach you anything?!"

  • Ya think?

  • Hope this gets a VGA update someday...

  • I miss adventure games!

  • They still exist. They just don't get the big E3 promotion like a new Call of duty or GTA.

  • I'm glad the classics are being rereleased too! I just got a collection of the Space Quest series :)

  • lol you broke every rule

  • tentacles argh!

  • The death graphic starting at 3:56 - I understand the part about Laura 'sleeping with the fishes' but I guess I don't understand why the fish are kissing her (or if that's not what they're doing, I don't have a clue what they ARE doing).

  • They're not kissing her, they're eating her.

  • Okay. I guess I can't discern old graphics the way I used to.

  • @MrWhitman And then they're gonna eat me!

    OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

  • @MrWhitman They're eating her! And then they're going to eat me. OH MY GOOOOOOOOOODDDD.

  • lol they're eating her

  • When I first played that game, I was about 3 years old. I remember that it scared me to death, and that ghost absolutely scared the pee water right out of me!!! The music is what was the scariest!

I cried when Lillian died in the garden.

  • Weren't you a little young for this kind of game?

  • Nah, I don't think you could ever be too young for something so awesome.

  • But there are some things in this game very inappropriate for a three-year-old...

  • Well, lol, I was kind of exaggurating when I said 3. I was about 5 or 6. At first I used to play it with my dad, then I played it by myself.

  • So they couldn't show the fall off the second floor, but they were OK with animating a young woman being split by an axe?

  • I agree. The axe one is GROSS!

  • @elusiverobertdenby As well as be crushed slowly by an elevator :P

  • Didn't Alfred teach you anything?!?!

  • I never saw the alligator! Is that one of those "random deaths?"

  • Pretty much. I had to go through that screen a grand total of seven times before the alligator showed up. Or if you're referring to the one that hides in the water. No, it's not random.

  • Oh, chute! X_X

  • wow. she dies in the most retarted way. and then the sarcastic ass Game creators XD!

  • wait wait wait...the horse one has her eyes gouged out when the horse only kneed her!

  • I don't think her eyes are gouged out...I think she's supposed to have the comical "X's for eyes" expression...except they look like plus signs...Yeah. ^_^

  • LMFAO the 2nd one

  • "Now you're a real southern belle." Hahahahahaha

Killing Laura was one of the best parts of this game when we were kids. But the deaths where Laura suddenly got grabbed or murdered use to terrify the crap out of me. And the Chapel and graveyard! I could never go in there. I was such a wimp. :D

  • Speaking of southern Belle, Remember the Belle death in Uninvited? : p

  • LOL! Sadly, I do!

  • What belle death in uninvited?

  • Early on in the game, you meet a ghost dressed like Scarlet O'Hara. If you HIT or use the wrong item on her, she retaliates by ripping you limb from limb (though in the NES version it's toned down a lot). Most walkthroughs show that one just because holy hell is it creepy.

  • Oh ok. I know which one you're talking about now. I hate that death. The one where you could randomly die at any spot when you're holding the red gem is the worst one though.

  • That's not actually a random death. The ruby is a trap and is designed for people who try to take everything, much like the sheet metal in Space Quest III's first part. If you pick it up and don't discard it in the courtyard after 61 actions, you become possessed by a demon and the game is over.

If you want to, you can count in a video. (don't expect me to watch it though - I don't know why but that game gives me the willies something fierce.)

  • On one of the versions of Uninvited (I forgot which one) you could die randomly while holding it. On the other ones, you die after 61 actions if you don't discard it in the courtyard.

  • can you please make a video because I really want to see that one.

  • Uninvited, lol

  • I never got thta dead ringer comment when I was a kid, in fact I still dont ..

  • well, I suppose you know what "dead ringer" actually means... Well, in this case it's probably about the game Horseshoes, where you'd actually use the term "ringer" in scoring.

  • I was laughing out loud at that.

  • that shower part's a nice Psycho reference, complete with the remark, "Didn't Alfred teach you anything?!"

  • "Way to go, Sherlock, you just invented the trash compactor."

    Easily the wittiest pun ever.

  • HOLY COW that axe bit was amazing!

  • I remember all the puns. Funny shit. Though some of those deaths did scare me. (I was 10 when this came out)

  • *SPOILER* Ya know, even though Vivian turned out to he the killer in the end, you sorta wonder if it was her that dragging you in the closets and secret passages (and the choke part). Over there it seemed like an Impish arm grabbed you, but ahh what the heck.

  • er, do you mean Lilian?

  • Good ol Scissorsman. He loves those showers.

  • fantastic ;) i love this game... each time it was play something new was found

  • How could a place with so many ways to die not be nice?

    /endsarcasm

  • If you want her to die in the attic it has to be when the clothes are not in the trunk. Keep walking in that area and you'll get the choke. ;)

  • I never saw the secret passage one before! Is that when there's a "scent of perfume" in the air? Never saw the attic or alligator ones, either. Creepy

Meanwhile, I think its funny that none the falling deaths are more than one story. In reality that would cause at worst a broken bone.

  • The secret passage one happens at random. It's more likely if you smell perfume but not required.

Anyway, the one story fall killing you depends on how you land. Gertrude dies from a one story fall and more importantly by a broken neck.

  • Well, to be fair, it really depends on how you land on how bad the injury could be.

  • Ah, those great cheesy lines after your character died. Clasic.

  • The Psycho reference at the end was pretty hilarious. And I like how they play semi-inspirational music after you die.

  • Try going down the chute in Lillian's room when someone's in there.(;

  • the shower one is great :D

  • You're lucky the sound works. Mine never did, even on xp. Lol i only got super sleauth once.

  • Ahh the memories.... I LOVE this game. But you missed the one at the bell tower when she rings the bell with the cane, the bell falls on her and squashes her so that all there is, is a bell with legs sticking out. She then runs around until she hits the tree and falls over...if my memory serves me right. Also could she fall down the well? I'm not to sure. Otherwise brilliant :)

  • No, Laura can't fall down the well. I've tried that, but all she says is "Are you Crazy?!"

As for the bell death, that can't be done on the CD version. Only the Diskette version had a bell death that graphic and I don't have that one.

  • Au contraire. I own the the King's Quest collection that has this game on CD and that other bell death actually DOES happen.

By the way, where do those characters' quotes come from? They're never in the game, are they?

  • 1. If you can tell me how to get it, I'll gladly do a revision of this one. But I've gone through that death over ten times and it's always the same for me.

    2. The ONLY quote that is actualy in the game is "Leave my horse alone!" Spoken by the Colonel. As for the rest of them, I took screen shots of dialogs, cut and pasted words phrases and even letters to spell out the quotes.

  • Try pulling the rope at a different angle.

  • I still can't get it to work. Laura automatically walks to the possition you see in this list. If you can get a video or screen shot of it and send it to me I'll add it.

  • Keep trying. You'll probably get it eventually.

  • The King's Quest collection has this game? Is it more than one King's Quest collection, or..? For I have a King's Quest collection, and it's only King's Quest I to VII there.

  • You probably just have the King's Quest Compilation which is slightly different than the King's Quest collection.

  • Hmm.. Maybe, but it sitll says King's Quest Collection on the CD cover and when I start the program o.o

  • Does the box say King's Quest Compilation or Collection?

  • The box says collection as well o0

  • Mine must be an update then.

  • Damit! Ah well, I can still play CB as long as I have a DOSbox. (:

  • Oh my God, I remember I got that death scene only a week ago or something, haha.

  • who chokes her in the attic? i don't remember that one

  • That attic death is the "hidden" death of the game. As for who it is... it's the murderer of the game. (Sorry I don't want to spoil it for everyone).

  • how do i get her to die that way... i guess, when can i do that is a better question

  • It can be done at any time. The time that I did it was my first entry into the basement in Act III. If she isn't killed the first time she walks in that area, just leave the screen to the right and come back. That usually gets it to work.

  • The chute one was random.

  • lol sierra is so cheesy with the puns
