the message is a encrypted text that iphone doesnt know so it makes these boxes once text is sent the text opens a webpage in which doesnt take you to your webbrowser, or it is not even on your webbrowser, it is actually calling native encrypted code of the iphone so it makes it's own browser then it calls and recieves functions from the webpage(which is based on flash) then from there people can do what ever. turning off your phone wont do anything.

i got a text message with no subject and a person i dont know and all it said was some random phone number and two options, close and call. so i turned off my phone immediatly

So you have a jailbroken iphone 2g running on the 3.0 firmware right? And you are using something like Ulstrasn0w too make it unlocked right?

If so then if you go to the dev teams website they will tell you that it is compatible so just go check it out there first. If it is not jailbroken can you please give me more information regarding what you are asking.

Look I dont know about any SMS viruses but I have awaken on more than one occasion and saw my iphone screen on and typing in digits attempting to gain access to my phone. It seemed to happen when i laid the phone on my laptop. Believe it or not but I'm serious. It was definitely creepy.

iPhone update 3.0.1 fixes this problem

it is allready available for download on iTunes.

That is correct the patch is out now, but is only out for iPhone due too the fact it only fixes this flaw.

its not a fake, its real but listen the virus is NOT out yet, just the idea of how to hack it, it won't be out for AT LEAST 2 WEEKS because hackers need to get the virus's code ready to be launched. moral of the story, you will be fine for at least two weeks, and apple will most likely release the patch by then, so don't worry about it. if the patch isn't out by 2 weeks,and u get the virus, JUST RELAX, turn it on airplane mode, turn wi-fi off, and just wait for the patch.

Don't worry there is a very unlikely chance of anything happening and if you want too use your phone and feel scared turn on Airplane Mode but I suggest living your normal lives untill/if something does happen

Thanks! Did you get the message? If you were too get this random message then once your phone is off just keep it off for the time being. Now if this isn't an option you can always risk having your phone on because there is no guarantee that anything will happen but there is a risk.

Now what I would do is contact Apple or your mobile Service provider after you get the message and you turn off the phone. By doing this you can get further support from them and have help too fix the problem.
