Notice guys how he does the moonwalk TWICE in this performance, in `87 he did it similar to this too ..they will still be talking about him in another 200 years...and watching and listening to him. as well....I don't think Michael Jackson will ever be forgotten.
Mj did not invent the backslide, and he's stated that many times - but, he certainly refined it, polished it, and made it look like magic, then showed it to the world in his hit song, and that, is what made him so fantastic. He had the ability to take it to the next level, he was an artist of the highest caliber, and his work easily swept you into his grooves. As a rock drummer, MJs' beats stuck in my head, I loved his music even when I was surrounded by metalheads that hated disco.

Back in the First Quarter at My school, My art teacher would play MJ and i would sing to it and sometimes dance and people made fun of me for it and said stuff like Mj should stay dead or he should have never been born and it pissed me off so much i beat the fuck out of the kids who said that.

I don't know about the different styles concept. Michael just did the dance better than anyone else. And about the naming your kids, that is your prerogative. But naming all of your children after your favorite entertainer's family is just not normal, in my opinion. Never put a human on a pedestal that high. That's a place that should be set aside for God only. So it is not wrong per se; we just have to be careful with that kind of stuff. I grew up obsessed with the jacksons. So i understand.

We used to do this move, called the slide before it got the name moonwalk, at the pool hall all the time. We would do it to songs like "planet rock" which was out when Michael's off the wall album was out. It was about 3 years later that michael made this move popular with mainstream America.
Jeffery Daniels didn't really 'invent' Moonwalk either. Moonwalk's been done before as well, for instance, by Bill Bailey ... this was way before Jeffery Daniels.
Of course not, but many other people think he invented the moonwalk. I know Michael didn't claim to because I remember when he hired a guy from the 80s show "solid gold" to teach him. My point was in response to people who said the this show was the first time Michael did the moonwalk or that he invented it. He could take something and own it (other than the james brown's moves. James was the best at his moves). More than anything, this was an opportunity for mainstream white america to be exposed to this move. Black america had already been exposed to it for 4 or 5 years. So Michael kind of reinvented it, so to speak.

yes mabe, but i remember when obama got elected. somebody on named their son after obama, and then she appeard on the news. and what about about elvis presley? he was an entertainer and i know some people that not only named their kids elvis, but there changed their last name to presley. People, for the last time: MICHAEL DID NOT INVENT THE MOON WALK! JEFFERY DANIELS OF SHALAMAR DID! Actually, the moonwalk had been out years before Michael did it in this performance. I remember, because we as kids tried to do it all the time, about two years before Michael performed it here. Michael just made it more popular because he exposed it to mainstream white america. But every black kid on the street knew what the moonwalk was long before michael did it. But no one did it like Michael!

Michael made it popular with mainstreet white America. Actually, until michael did the moonwalk on this show, it was really going out of style with black America. I remember that clearly. We used to do this move, called the slide before it got the name moonwalk, at the pool hall all the time. We would do it to songs like "planet rock" which was out when Michael's off the wall album was out. It was about 3 years later that michael made this move popular with mainstream America.

Jeffery Daniels didn't really 'invent' Moonwalk either. Moonwalk's been done before as well, for instance, by Bill Bailey ... this was way before Jeffery Daniels.

Of course not, but many other people think he invented the moonwalk. I know Michael didn't claim to because I remember when he hired a guy from the 80s show "solid gold" to teach him. My point was in response to people who said the this show was the first time Michael did the moonwalk or that he invented it. That's not true, though it may be true that he did better than anyone else did.

yeah, that's true. It was the first time he did on tv. I think his moonwalk was awesome, and we had never seen anyone do it that smooth, as Michael did with all of his moves. He could take something and own it (other than the james brown's moves. James was the best at his moves). More than anything, this was an opportunity for mainstream white america to be exposed to this move. Black america had already been exposed to it for 4 or 5 years. So Michael kind of reinvented it, so to speak.
