You are AMAZING! I play a lot of that metis style too apparently. I mean the more rhythmic asmpect you spoke of. I have been trained as a bluegrass fiddler, but I always seemed to find myself adding more of the rhythm like the Metis. I just never knew it was actually called something else. And I'm gonna try that Metis tuning now too.
wow! youre amazing! how long have you been playing for? ive just started in the last few months, hope i get as good as you!! keep up the amazing talent!
Hi Trent, I am Art Burd's son-inlaw, and wow!! It's like hearing Dad play again! I REALLY want to thank you for carrying on the tradition, and most of ALL the dedication, and honorable mention to Art! My wife is speechless! Keep it up Trent, you have a real talent. Obviously you have the thirst for the music.
Now I see where John Hartford must have picked up his ability to dance while playing fiddle. He must have listened to some metis style fiddle. You are a master!
Being of Metis background, I found your video to be completely amazing, and it brought back memories of listening to my uncle play for us as kids... thank you..
Exactly, I love how this kid explained that, basically people are dumb for bein retarded and sayin shit like "you're playin it wrong" thats how music gets developed into what it is at the moment (other than like modern mainstream music of course)
Thanks Trent. I loved it. I'm just picking up the fiddle and am not exposed to any Metis fiddlers unfortunately. I'll see what I can pick up on-line in the interim.
I just got home from the John Arcand Fiddle Festival in Saskatchewan and LOVED every minute of the Metis style. I'm catching on to the chording style...slowly! And I'm determined to learn the footwork! Thanks for sharing this!!!!
