  • have ya heard davy,s version. dvd live in theatre, isle of man. duke video. isle of man. its so much better. and more clearer sound.

  • how the fuck did this video get three thumbs down...?

  • @vAbolish dumb asses there every where

  • I like it when the guy in the audience says: "yeah"

  • damn. I need to see them live.

  • Saw Knowles with his band BDS at the Big Waterfront Bluesfest a few years ago in Portland Oregon and oh my god they could have been the headliner they were so phenomenal. Increadable show. I hope they perform at our blues festival some time in years to come. WOW :-)

  • @jmakosk Totally blown away. Love this kid

  • Davy is awesome. A friend of mine gave me his cd after seeing him live and I've been hooked ever since.

  • Jesus Christ!, that was wicked. Thanks Warren for showing our youth what bad ass music is. This kid Davie Knowles is fuckin talented and has definitely picked the right style of music!!!

  • Awesome! The world needs more music like this, no doubt!

  • fucking sick!!!!!

  • so much soul fur such a young guy?! and a brilliant cover of one of my fav tunes.

  • who's the 1 tool that dislikes this? putz

  • Just WOW, what I'd give to be in that room at that moment

  • absolutely beatiful..........

    goosebumps all over my skin

  • Sir Warren and the kid, superb rendition.

  • Oh Dear God!! This is beyond fantastic!! WOW ! Thanks for the excellent post!

  • its a fucking shame that there's not more musicians like these guys around, there's a few, but music tastes have gone to other shit since the glory days of real talent. that's my .02

  • One person accidentally hit dislike - what is UP WITH THAT?!! If you don't like it, GO AWAY!

  • @laissezfukd

Sorry for the confusion - I meant "vox" as in vocals.

  • Great tune from David Crosby. Warren old enough to identify. And great axmen ripping it up.

  • Just superb!!!!

  • @nickfl0924

Warren is his usual *BRILLIANT* self (and I don't even love post-Allen Woody Gov't Mule - he sings like Muddy and plays like Jimi) and this Davy Knowles character is pretty damn good (tho his vox don't do anything for me) but to say that Davy is the best guitarist alive under 40 is completely absurd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am too tired to think but off hand the young guitarist that would burn him the worst is Derek Trucks - Robert Randolph would straight abuse Davy.

  • @IgnatiusChinaski I definitley agree with you, although i'm pretty sure Davy's playin a Fuchs here, not a vox. Fantastic amps.

  • davey knowles is 100% the best guitarist alive today under the age of 40

  • @nickfl0924

You mean the best that YOU have heard. And clearly, that's not saying much.

  • @67goldtops thats true it is the best I have heard and yoru right i havnt heard all that much if you have any suggestions i am deffinatlly open to them

  • @nickfl0924

    Start with these...

Mato Nanji, Audley Freed, Daniel Sproul, Joe Bonamassa, Luther Dickinson, Ty Tabor, Philip Sayce, Carl Verheyen, Joscho Stephan, Derek Trucks, Yamandu Costa.

They'll keep you busy for a little while...

  • @67goldtops Start with Davy Knowles What in the World Part 2 Prairie Dog Blues Festival or maybe Cortez the Killer from San Diego boat cruise. Then I will come back with a list of (maybe) 2 or 3 Blues/Rock players ever (including Jimi, Buchanan, Rory, a young Jeff Beck).

  • @Jonannellejul

    What are you talking about?

  • @nickfl0924

Oh and I for got to mention Kris Lager...

  • I definitely like the sound of Davy's strat more than his PRS... but hey, to each their own i guess.

Warren sounds great as usual :)

awesome jam!! they should jam more often

  • What album is this on? Or can I buy it through mulenet I had a copy that said it was derek trucks etc... Back when music was (shared) want to buy it.

  • Great song., Great jam, Great jam song.

  • hearing these jams with the mule makes me wonder if this is what inspired davey to get a keyboardist for his own band.

  • Yeah this is music...not the crap they play now. It was done many years ago when feeling and soul went into a song. Could listen to stuff like this all day !!!!!

  • @rainsjob

"Not the crap they play now"? This is a modern video. People ARE playing this kind of stuff now. And those are the people whos music I care about :) It does get on my nerves when people keep saying the only music around nowadays is manufactured shit. Every youtube video that isn't cheesy pop music has this exact same comment on it. Usually with a Bieber comparison. Yawwwwwn.

  • Lucky to have seen Warren Haynes quite a few times, with Gov'T Mule,Allman Bros,The Dead,etc....I'd love to catch Knowles, too.Seeing them together,man...that's almost too much !

  • I saw these guys do this at The House Of Blues in Anaheim and I FREAKED! Hot damn, that's what music is all about!

  • this is so fucking good!

  • Almost washed my hair!

  • go see Davy live when he comes to town, should not be missed

  • i have twice :D

  • Warren is a great guitarist, but Davey should be doing the vocals he has a much better voice

  • Oh, yes. This is worthwhile for many reasons.

    You who know: enjoy it.

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • This song always takes me back to my VW bus, my 12 string, and my dog, Northern. And Sausalito on a Sunday.

  • Davey & Warren on the same stage.

    Mint.

  • This is really hot.

  • yep..Davy Knowles is on solo carrer ...i heard his new cd and its no so good as the last. but this kid come to stay

  • I disagree, I think his new CD is fantastic, and I saw him live with his new band, and he was on fire. Way more so then he was with the old back door slam.

  • Different strokes, as they say. I much prefer the blues rock/power trio sound of the first album. The new one seem much less bluesy. I miss that... especially the hard driving guitar solos. The new album seems like more streamlined pop. I'm not a diehard fanboy... I had high hopes for this new incarnation - Ross and Adam are great players but neither sings and neither has much stage presence. But Davey has just changed his style quite a bit... even moved from a Strat to a Gibson (335?).

  • Well live he play's with a PRS, but your right... a humbucker none the less lol. He still plays the blues quite well, he's not giving that up. And he still performs live as a power trio. And he did take out his strat a few times.

Also, when he plays acoustic with his resonator and Gibson, it's incredible, really bluesy still. I don't think he could lose it if he tried. He did an awesome cover of a Van Morrison song Btw.

  • Ah, yes, I see a newer video and he's playing a PRS. Not as ballsy as his Strat (IMHO), but sounds great nonetheless. It does seem that his live sets are more bluesy than the new album shows. I'll like that. I'll be seeing him this afternoon at the Pleasantville, NY music festival.

  • i heard Peter Frampton produced Davy's new solo cd...i'm a Peter Frampton HUGE fan, but i was very disapointed on final result. anyway Davy one of best musician that appeared last years

  • Went just to see Back Door Slam. The most promising talent we'll see for a long, long time. Incredible. ************

  • sucks they broke up/

  • @dandandanh they didn't break up. their bassist allen woody tragically died in 2000. they are back now and stronger than ever.

  • @earthblues22 meant to say directed at Back Door Slam, not Mule.

  • I was eight rows back center for this show. The encore blew the entire room away! Davy and Warren--an incredible guitar combination. Thanks for posting the video.

  • shit is dope, yo

    5 starz

  • This is the first Mule footage I've seen with Carlsson on bass . I'm glad he's brought the Woody-type heaviness back to Mule's rhythm section . I like Andy Hess too , but I always had to listen really hard to hear him in their live mix . This is also the first I've heard of Davy Knowles...I'm very impressed !

  • Look around on-line for a recording of their concert at the Santa Fe Brewing Company. I think it's the best example of Davy's playing. He does a screaming cover of Rory Gallagher's "What in the World"... simply astounding guitar work on that one.

  • I'll do that . Have a good weekend dude .

  • I was at this show :)

    Thanks for posting

  • this was an awsome cover

  • Brilliant

  • I certainly enjoyed that night. It was a great show except for the fire alarm interuption.

  • A blues version of the great song from CSNY by a Southern Blues Rock band. Thanks.

  • Davy, makin the Isle of Man proud!

  • was this from the geneva ny show @ smith opera house that i was at look like it.love the new mule and I'm a big fan of back door slam nice vid man

  • Davy Knowles .....man and guitar in one;)

  • Ha. This is the first time I've seen this video, and I filmed it. Looks pretty good

  • That's damned hot...

  • I love the look on Warren's face during Davy's solo. Good stuff.

  • Thank you for posting. Peace. :)

  • the back door slam hates me but i like them

  • nice one fellas

  • loved that "have you ever loved a woman" and "gonna send you back to georgia" in Minneapolis.
