Looks as if you fold the inner(white and green) upper leaf over to the 90° upper leaf. you show nothing of what happened to the paper trailing the fold(disappeared?) and how did you fold on to the "bud"( the piece you flattened the step before this) my paper just tells me "NO" and i end up with a lot of wrinkled paper.

@Protectorate At 3:15 he tries to fold each side in to the same direction (counterclockwise). While trying to do so, you can see how the middle becomes a little mountain. Softly press on the mountain while keeping the counterclockwise folding an you will get some kind of a square. You have to do that correctly, which requires some attempts. But don't give up - that's trickiest part. But your girl will love that rose, believe me ;)
