The churches that were burned and destroyed (even though it was wrong) werent destroyed because of religion; they were destroyed because it represented the Serbs. The problem in Kosovo was caused by Milosevic. He mishandled the situation and even Serbian President Ivan Stambolic warned Milosevic in 1987 that he was playing with fire and inflaming nationalism....that's why Slovenia and Croatia broke away from Yugoslavia in 1991 because Milosevic scared everybody who wasn't Serbian.
All they had to do was make Kosovo a 7th Yugoslav republic.
