  • tups and hunts

  • do you know how to make 4:3 in HD? need some help here

  • @WeTookAlpha go to pan/crop and see if you can zoom in on the footage.

  • Just upload the 4:3 video to Youtube and add these as tags:

    yt:stretch=16:9 yt:quality=high

    works perfectly

BTW there were 43 (4:3) comments before I wrote this ;)

  • @SuperXD25 WOW THANX LOOK AT MY VIDEO : THATS SO RAVEN ESCAPE CLAUS PART 1 i used! wow

    !

  • @TheOmiJ No problem! I'll check ou that vid!

  • Do you know how i can stretch a pre-recorded video (a Modern Warfare 2 clip) from 800x600 16:9 that appears squished when in 4:3 but normal widescreen on an HD monitor?

I'm amazed that I can't find an easy tool in Movie Maker, I even tried different programs -_-

  • @XenoSpyro Render as 16:9, upload and put in "yt:stretch=4:3" as one of the text

  • @SuperXD25 what abt sony vegas

  • @theporkchopchannel Go to File > Render As > Template > Custom > Frame size > 1280x720 for HD widescreen. 640x480 for 4:3 'square' format. Hope this helps

  • @SuperXD25 i hope so im trying 16.9 some old vhs tape to bluray

  • Use your 4:3/16:9 camera in 16:9 mode. SATH: Saves All The Hassle.

And you get higher effective resolution (530kp vs 400kp) on a Canon MV920-E camcorder.

  • its basically blowing the image up and you lose resolution

  • @showreel2 Exporting something for the web when it's being edited in SD you don't really see much difference.

  • @philipnewmannz fair point, good video. its probably better off that when framing theres more head room, for when top and bottom cut off later. would it be worth experimenting and making a guide frame on the flip out as i may have to do this on an old PANASONIC MX300 i just bought cheap

  • This tutorial seems to be interesting... even though, I haven't downloaded the program. yet... I just want to be sure of something... can I crop a .vob file, which originally has 16:9 dimentions but in the 4:3 frame, and export it as a .vob file again??? I just don't want it to lose the high quality that a .vob file has... thanks.

  • you are just zoom in your video, trimming up and down parts of the video. It'd better keep your 4x3 video in 4x3 aspect ratio with pillars. At least you aren't losing anything. These bars works as keeping the original aspect ratio and since 4x3 picture is 100% all picture, you're not losing any picture.

  • gracias! me sirvio muchisimo tu tutorial!

    DNK!

  • Wow, thank you for not instructing the people to just STRETCH the 4:3 picture to 16:9!

  • or you can put this code in your video tag

yt:stretch=16:9 yt:quality=high that what i did and it mopre better then doing what this guy is showing you

  • the high quality tag doesn't do anything to mine though

  • wut are BAAIIS?

  • @Jetario Bars u .....

  • @Jetario

    Really? :P

You know just as much as we do.

  • hahaha yea me too.

  • i was lik wats a bah but then it kinda got clear at the end

  • You can also do this in Sony Vegas if anyone was wondering.

  • got animation movie made for 4:3 and wan show on projector now with of course 16:9

so its stretches so i used tool to burn it make black box all around to preserve aspect ratio anyway so have full screen ? on projector with out aspect ratio distortions?

  • how do ya do it in sony vegas pro?????

  • I want to know how to do this in WMM!

  • go to tools -> options -> Advanced parameters and chose 16:9 =) sorry if the terms are not right, my window movie maker is in french

  • what program did you use in this video to edit !!?!!

    great tut 5*

  • How about doing the same thing in Windows Movie maker?

  • dude! u r a very smart fellow!! now i can easily turn my 4:3 videos into 16:9 in premiere elements and make them HD in movie maker! i thank you greatly.

  • Thank you

  • show me in iMove

    lol

    i have a MAC

  • is a mac good?

    does it have any problems?

  • i can assure you that mac is superior to pc. i only recently changed to mac 6 months ago and i am delighted! All of the pc users are saying that mac sucks because you know, they want to be better but once you switch to mac you realize how awesome it really is. =)

  • IT may also help people to know that the res is 1280x720 COOL vid

  • Is that CLAIRE?! Please do tell a way to do this is WMM. I don't like the bars, I'm claustrophobic....I think they're going to eat me......

  • What how do you do it on CS4 it doesn't let you resize

  • i wish i had that software - haven't been able to find a way to do it in iMovie. thanks for using me in your vid - love you! *hug*

  • Well i needed a hot model *wink*

  • hahahahah you flatter me too much :P

  • Because your worth it :P

  • Its actually simpler* in iMovie (08 not HD), just go to project properties, select widescreen, then use the crop feauture on your clips.

  • i have HD, not 08

  • Oh and was that Claire? Or just someone that looks an awful lot like her?

  • Yeah its tenebrousllama (Claire) ...

  • Really cool of you to make this, I will forward it to anyone I know using that program to edit!

  • haha you did a blunty at the end there.

    ~Jayson

  • you came through mcdonald's drive thru today and after you left I immediately texted jessums31 :D

  • Hehe, was I in uniform?

  • yup

  • You should have said something ... I waited like 15 minutes in the drive though :P
