Mary Ann Kennedy "hosts" this summit meeting in Scotland of top ranked Irish and Scottish musical talent. No amateurs in this group. The musical direction came from Steve Cooney (guitar) and Alan McDonald (purple shirt, pipes). I've yet to see this BBC production on DVD.
I've been combing the internet in hope that The Highland Sessions have been rendered to DVD, too. No luck. Thank goodness for these YouTube clips. They're pure gold!!
This is a revolutionary setting of what once was a commoner thing, the Scots and Irish playing their music together. For me it is especially close to home since my family is Irish-Scots ( Gallowglass )
What's the second tune called?

Modern Irish folk song. MacDonald & Henderson are Scottish. Shaw, O'Brien,
Cooney, O'Donnell and Riley are Irish.
The two ladies, Kennedy and Lightfoot,
are Scottish.

The first tune in the set, O'Donnell's Return, refers to the release from prison of Paddy O'Donnell, one of the most famous of the IRA leaders.

I see an O Donnell in the group. It`s Triona (Ni DOmhnaill) !

A real summit meeting. So many "big" names making music together! and the mouth music is great. One if the best parts of the Highland Sessions IMO.
