@suremate Wrote Leggierezza. In the original Liszt score there is "leggierezza". In Italian, in 19th cent, was correct both forms, ma both was spelt "leggerezza" in the same way
This is very well played. Whether it be evgeny kissin or yuja wang or lang-lang, they are all talented. Each interpretation is unique to the player. The interpretations are accurate. This performance is brilliant and is worthy of recognition. Amazing performance! Kudos for all artists that reach this musical ability and potential.
There are always peolple who need to compare someone to an other, but we don't care...or people who are convinced to be more sensitive than the others, we don't care too...! Please listen to the musician, and go away if you don't like! As to me, I love Kissin in this piece very much!
oh won't she play it anymore, when she grows older?
what's it all about? i guess, you miss the beauty of music and are lost in some ideas and concepts about proficiency, accomplishment just give a try to listen without comparing.

I recognize his incredible talent, but I don't like his playing,'cause expression and feeling are totally absent, generally. And a strong, magnific finger are not enough,I think,to begin a complete big interpreter.

I totally agree with you - there is nothing BUT expression and feeling. The reason for that is Evgeny doesn't 'do' anything to the music - he just plays it as it is written.
that's not what i meant. obviously the composer is expressing themselves or an idea through their music, but it's designed to be performed. so when someone puts something into it, their own feelings, own sense of expression, their interpretation of the piece, it brings the piece to life.
I totally disagree. The music is very much alive BEFORE anyone plays it. Give the composer some credit, for goodness sake. Yes, the performance 'makes the piece happen' but it does NOT create it.
again, not what i meant. it's common knowledge among performers that YOU have to bring the piece to life, it needs to come from within you - and i am NOT saying that there is no expression or life in the piece itself, but again, pieces are designed to be performed, so that is how they come alive. look at all the horrible performances of some incredible pieces, it's the performer messing up. when you get the right performer, great pieces become even greater.
The expression is IN the music from the moment of its conception. How a performer does or does not recognize that makes all the difference. Maestro Kissin is doing absolutely nothing other than playing what is on the page. If you believe that rubato and other nuances are Kissin's, you are mistaken. Kissin simply has the great intellect AND fabulous technique to make the piece sound as it did in the ear of the master who created it.
@organman52 I'm not so sure about Kissin's intelect but generally Kissin feels and plays Liszt well and I suppose, that this was outstanding interpretation. Well done.
while the world knows that kissin is a brilliant pianist, i still want to point out that his then-touch plyaing this piece is a bit inadequate. it has to be lighter , float like cloud as the title of the piece suggests instead of pressing down hard. Argerich's or Beno Moisewitsch has proper touch for this piece.

Evgeny rox u. Yuja Wong OK but she got funky accents and bad rubato. She lost themes and just play notes on last page. But Evgeny watch those fast notes. U play too many keys some times!!!
Outstanding performance and musicality for an 8 year old. Bravo! Kissin is truly a wonder. One audible mistake that I could tell.
I prefer Yuja Wang's (I think spelled Yujia Wang on the Youtube search) wonderful prodigious recording of this piece which sounds more romantic and pleasing... but she was 11 when it was recorded.
No. I believe he was 15. And even if he was an amazing genius child, I also prefer Yuja Wang's Leggierezza. And yes, she was 11 years old on that video.
They're both great and age in my opinion has nothing to do with how good they play it.
For me and that's my own personal opinion, I like Kissin's interpretation more. He has catpured this slightly mysterious melancholic and dreamy feeling of the piece better. But that's just me

I disagree, this kind of feeling can only come from putting immense amount of feeling into what you're playing. It's very pure in emotion.
