Saw YES several times in the 70s as a teenager but it was before I really understood who they were and how great and unique their music was and is .... All time favorite group now for me ..
Hey ppl. If you really want to see and hear GREAT music. GO see Jon and Rick. OMG!! They were AMAZINGGGGG!!!! Rick is a one man orchestra and Jon's voice is Back to form. Hitting and holding those high note. They played all the best YES songs, esp the whole "AWAKEN". It was Blow away. I flew up to Buffalo to see them again n will see them again this week. It is the REAL YES Music. Who would WASTE their money on those other guys? Go see & hear the GReatest voice n Keyboardest in Rock EVER!!!
I dunno, I gotta disagree with all the haters here, on this track anyhow. The vocs are all spot on and in key, Steve< Chris, Oliver and even Alan turn in a very good performance, and Benoit's vocs are, as stated, spot on and tight. I very much miss Jon, but if they only performed this well on all their songs as of late, I'd be better able to deal with a Jon-less YES.
It's a bit strange how the only two members of the band who are lit properly are Howe and Squire, White is in the background, and the other two could be anybody. I love this band, and it is sad to see them without Jon Anderson, the spirit just isn't there, he is irreplacable.
Wow I love the way Benoit almost hits a lot of the notes! I think hitting the notes is a little over-rated. Maybe yes should play with out of tune instruments so they can be as awesome as Benoit!
why is it, when I come to watch a Yes video, all I see are freaks that hate Yes. I think they hate themselves and life in general. Isn't there jon anderson videos that you freaks can go to hate Yes? They go onto a Yes videos and say "this isn't Yes, only jon anderson is Yes" or something retarded like that. I guess that there will always be little freaks that are afraid of change.
@mikapromotesobesity ...the only freak is you. The essence of YES is Anderson. He is the sound of YES...the voice of YES...replacing him with a fill-in is like taking Mick jagger out of the Stones or Daltrey out of the Who. If you prefer this essentially "retarded" partial sound of YES...good for you. Howe,Squire and White have deluted their "brand". The great classic YES is now no more than a watered down version of itself. Only fools will listen to this version of YES today.
@202Hollywood Yes has always had members come and go. Drama is a great record. This lineup will make a great record, especially with Trevor Horn producing. I look forward to it.
@202Hollywood I agree 10000% This band has become a joke and it's a slap to the face of all the fans... people can have and choke on this version, which is a weak-ass, sloppy pile of dung!! Go make your money guys, you bunch of old whores!!
@doobiewannabe What? Are you crazy? This band has been around for over 40 years now and the fellows still tour. Do realize how lucky we are that they can still push out a concert and draw crowds? Jon's vocals are not up for touring anymore so that doesn't mean the band should not put themselves out their. Here's to another 40 years of Yes. And Benoit is pretty darn good for YES in 2011.
@75peter No, i'm not crazy...this version of the band is and if you think it's good you're the crazy one and you should get your hearing checked. Jon is on tour, he sounds better than ever. Don't believe every bit of shit that is told to you. Benoit is pretty damn awful and it's a joke. They are doing it for the money, not for the integrity of what use to be YES... enjoy your half assed version of whatever this is...
Thanks for posting. The tempo is slow, but it's the best performance from this lineup that I've seen. Reluctantly waiting to see them on July 8 at the Greek. BTW, what did you use to capture this video? It's brilliant quality.
THis is a beautiful looking and sounding Yessfilm! Great Job! I can't wait to see them on July 9th , here in L.A.... Just get 'em to the Greek...and my camera, too..and a similarly nice youtube vid will be seen on the horizon! THanks for posting this. SOme folks are down on Benoit David taking Jon;s spot...I think he is a terrific fill-in for Jon and deserves more credit! He;s living his dream. J.M.
Back in early 2008, Jon Anderson said Yes were going to play this on the Close to the Edge and Back tour, which was canceled. Now they're finally playing this again! There were a few other songs they said were gonna be on that canceled tour like "Nine Voices", "Give Love Each Day", and an acoustic version of "Revealing". I hope they play those, along with "A Venture".
Great Video! Looking forward to seeing them at Jones Beach Theater, NY. Back in the day- What a grand appearance they had onstage, and what grand arena-filling sound!!

If Yes can't get together and agree how to tour after fucking 40 years then I'm not going to cry about them.
BTW - to all you haters that singer sounds good. And this is coming from someone who has been going to their concerts since '74.

Benoit, you piece of shit, leave the band, you have ruined everything

Lose the Richard simmons vocalist and maybe it works as an instrumental band like RTF.
