  • Looks like she could use a little paint.

  • Holy crap that thing has not been moved in years by the looks of it

  • mowin' the lawn with a hemi powered loco :)

  • new paint eh?

  • pretty cool engine

  • Simply beautiful, love the rusty, and old look.

  • I hope it is repainted now, nice to see something old running though.

  • What sort of engine do they have? From the exhaust note, it sounds like either a large 6 cylinder engine with an exhaust leak, or some large diesel V8. Closest I've seen to something like this in Australia is what was known as the T and TA class shunters. They ran turbocharged Detroit V8s, and although they sit on three axles, would be only slightly bigger

  • @Mechknight73 It's actually a 2,000 ci gasoline V8 made by LeRoi. There's not much for an exhaust system, still completely factory. It's a 5inch cast iron straight pipe essentially.

  • @ZytxZeeb I'd hate to be paying the fuel bill on that one lol

  • @Mechknight73 8 gallons to the mile

  • @ZytxZeeb There's some armoured cars of 1950s vintage that do better than that lol

  • Dang they need to mow those weeds or get some roundup on them! Awesome little unit, probably one of the few, if not the only one still around! Great video! Thumbs up!

  • Wow! that is a neat old switcher! Thanks for sharing. I wonder what it looked like back in the day. seams to run pretty well still.

  • @thersaholycow Back in the day, it would run & look pretty much the same as it does now. Ours was a light sky blue, but if you look at the newer videos, we did finally sandblast & paint the entire unit a nice dark green.

  • Cool video! Are people allowed to visit this museum if they make prior arrangments or is it strictly no public and you have to be a member or something like that?

  • We are open only on sundays, but if you visit, we'll put you to work ;)

  • @ZytxZeeb What part of Vermont? I would love to visit sometime.

  • Towards Barnet, VT heading south from St. Johnsbury, VT on Route 5. (about 15 miles south of saint J)

  • okay thanks. I'm not usually over that way but I might be able to come sometime. Maybe this summer. Is there an open house or a time that would be better to visit? Also does the museum have a website?

  • We are usually there most sundays.

  • cool thanks.

  • switcher needs a new paint job maybe?

  • It got one this past fall. New videos of it soon.

  • Thanks! Cool video, never seen a Plymouth 30T switcher in action..

  • I thought the 45 tonners were tiny. I like that little engine. Do the cars in the background have couplers to be pulled with? Nice vid!

  • they do, but there's no brakes, so they are'nt pulled anywhere.

  • No headlights? No hand rails?

  • no need to run the headlight during the day on a private operation. & the unit has hood rails, altho when it operation, no one is allowed on the deck for safety reasons.

  • bloody hell needs grass cutting and restoring

  • Video was in 2006. We have already built a weed sprayer & used it.

  • She's a good little engine. Bet she'd love a good coat of paint.

  • We are designing a paint scheme for the critter.

  • how old?

  • 2009 - 1941 = 68

  • Haha... wow that thing is noisy! Nice video.

  • 3inch cast iron headers, straight dump up the stack. It's as-built., no mods.

  • Awesome. When was the last time she was ran prior to this?

  • I think about 9 years ago. Not totally sure.

  • take that thing over Tehachappi!

  • Ive passes this a few months ago i wanted to take more of a look around but figured it was privet.

Awsome yard though!! nice to see some one keeps the old alive!

  • a large and noisy grass cutter ? ja ja :)

  • sweet

  • Hey that made my day. Reminds me of being home in vermont. My mother lives right over the hill from there. Way cool, Thank you!

  • Awesome!! there is a Plymouth Switcher over in Tecumseh, Michigan. About 25 Min's from me here. I like that Tractor engine sound this one has!.

  • Everything's Original is this locomotive, with exception to the removing of the fuel pumps & installing a gravity line instead.

  • That is so cool!! Thanks for sharing...
