Well, this poor "sole" (you meant "soul") has just passed 2 years with this Samsung and is still delighted with it. I DID do research before buying this set, and there are reasons why it's one of the top 3 HDTV sets made.

The reason why the 1080i/p isn't filling the screen is because at that moment you were watching commercials which still aren't typically shot in a HighDef/widescreen format yet even if you are watching a Digital or High Defintion broadcast.

The reason channel 84-3 wasn't 1080i is because the broadcast at the time isn't 1080i. The description on the channel just means when there is hd being broadcast on the channel 1080i is the format that they use.

Thanks!! I've now had this set exactly a year, and still love it!! Adding an HD-DVD player really added to the enjoyment, too!
