  • such a better version -- had more balls -- but i heard yoko didn't like them so out they went.

  • @DJBiscuit she thought they were taking advantage of John's fame. She would be authority, so maybe you have to agree.

  • Un version actualizada en 1998 recuerdo que la veia en un canal musical del cable muy bueno que ya no existe

  • wooow this version is very co0o0l

  • yeahhh John Lennon & Cheap Trick great band and great composer Mr. J. W. Ono Lennon, pure hard rock pure

  • you get used to hearing a song a certain way and other versions suck, this SOOOO rocks

  • Ea Ea no tiene progenitora esta version seee..

  • i dont dig Lennon`s voice in this at all..this band and he were a real mismatch (on paper their expectations must have been higher) especially for the Double Fantacy album by Lennon

  • @stevenlennon12 the reason for Lennon's harshness is,everybody knew about the "lost weekend", they had all seperated at this time. again....John was staying in Bermuda and flew to L.A.for the sole pupose of recording this, he sang it to Yoko on the phone, if you listen to it from the perspective of "John was pissed" the voice is amazing

  • @sirwob Your facts are incorrect. This version was recorded at the Hit Factory in NYC, Aug. '80 after John returned from Bermuda. After this session, which to me is much better than the Double Fantasy version, the dreaded Yoko had to write the Cheap Trick boys a check for $3,000 for their session time, money well spent in my opinion ... too bad this version didn't make it to the album.

  • Stop the bleeding NOW

  • It's a great song but only Rick and Bun E from cheap trick are playing with Tony Levin. Well, it's awesome and I like how the video has John's drawings in it too

  • The one dislike is Yoko

  • Love this version..better than the one released on double fantasy..Rick Nielson and Bun E Carlos must have been in heaven recording this with Lennon

  • rock on johnny moondog

  • To correct some previously posted misinformation, only Rick Nielsen and Bun E. Carlos played on this, not Tom Petersson. The other musicians were John on rhythm and lead vocal, and as pictured in the video, the insanely talented Tony Levin on bass. What a shame the other version got released instead, eh? Glad this one eventually came out, though. This is like Plastic Ono Band level greatness!

  • Is that Tony Levin on bass?

  • A shame that Double fantasy/Milk and honey didn't rock like they should. Lennon had some great songs there.

  • According the the Douglas interview in the new Guitar World mag it was Yoko's decision to not use the Cheap Trick version because she considered their involvement to be self promotional.

  • best version!!! lennon ♥

  • #johnlennon im losing you T_T ((ºjº))

  • According to producer Jack Douglas..it wasn't Yoko who didn't want to use this. It was John. Mr. Douglas said that John said that 'this isn't who I am right now'....

  • absolutely love this version more punchier beefed up it isn't the greatest trick(no pun intended) in the world but when i works it works tom petty did a similiar thing to thunderclap and newmans something in the air

  • Better tnat the original!!

  • Yoko wanted this to sound more like the freakin' Eagles...so this track was "axed"...Good God. Yoko may have been a wonderful muse, and her artistic heart was certainly in the right place, but when it came down to musical decisions like which tracks were "axed" or not, all her opinions should have been politely considered then tastefully ignored.

  • The theme for "Beavis and Butthead"sounds a lot like the intro of this tune, doesnt it?

  • Awesome version

  • where can i found it on cd ?

  • This version is 10X better than the softer song.

  • This version smacks the DF version on it's A**.

  • btw beside tony being wrong. goerge small is playing electic piano. and i believe john playing the guitar solo.

  • @TheHiddenwood John was that good a player unfortunately.

  • @ringodingo i'm confused. do you mean you was not that good a player?it seems strange to say he was unfortunately good. i'm thinking you're reffering to my thinking john played the solos. i agree john instumental skills were limmited on anything he played. but hearing the solos i know he did, and comparing to this.the style is so similar. and if you give it a good listen whoever is playing, it's not so hard.

  • @TheHiddenwood you're totally right. I typed it wrong. Is that John on there a little? Cool. I wish it hadn't taken so long to be allowed to hear this recording.

  • don't know why tony levin is in the video. he played on the double fantasy album. but tom petersson from cheap trick played bass on this recording. john used these guys for the milk and honey double fantasy sessions. but it wasn't released. all the songs are real cool altrernate versions that rock.

  • I have obsessed about hearing something from these sessions for 29 years. When was this released? Who did the professional quality video? Are other tracks Cheap Trich played on?

  • Love this version with CT.

  • Ladies and gentleman, give it up for one of the most awesome bass/stick players on this or any other planet: Mr. Tony Levin!

  • Whoa! Lennon fits right in with CT's 'crunchy' sound! Love Rick's radical van dyke beard. Should've never cut it off!!

  • this is so freaking awesome.

  • Like this version way more.

  • Love this song!!! Why wasn't it released in 1980?

  • This version is somuch better that the double fantasy released version! But why?

  • no it's not. tony levin is palying the bass

  • is that

    g. grodon litty plaing bass

  • I wish they'd put the whole thing out

  • I'm going to have this stuck in my head all day.

  • From Wikipedia: "In 1980 both Nielsen and drummer Bun E. Carlos played on demos with former Beatle John Lennon (a musical hero of the band) for the final Lennon album Double Fantasy."

Tony Levin, 11/2/98: "Today we taped the video in L.A. for John Lennon's "I'm Losing You" - When I arrived, Rick Nielsen and Bun E. Carlos were there, looking at my web site! We hadn't met up since we recorded the track - in August 1980. Amazingly, after 18 years, we all remembered our parts on the song.

  • Awesome! When/How...old tapes (vocal track)...like Natalie Cole and her dad (and all the duets with Elvis)?

  • this is an original recording. Cheap Trick was brought in to give the song an edge. Yoko wanted a softer "Eagles," style so she axed this. There is no studio magic on here this is them sitting in the same room as john and playing..

  • Thanks for the reply...it got me to come back and listen again...see all the other comments...wish they had released it back then...B side maybe...oh well, at least it's finally out there now!

  • @kevinocooldaddy As easy of a target as Yoko may have been, she wasnt responsible for this take being axed. John himself had a hand in deciding that it didnt make the album. This track just didnt fit in with the production and sound of the other songs by the band he used for the rest of the record. This version is much more raw and powerful than the slicker version that ended up on the album.
