Ok, ok. I'd like some opinions from the people who played this game back in the day XD

I'm a big Konami fan but I never played the original ZOE, I'm considering getting the HD collection but I'm wondering do you think the gameplay will hold up?

Having never played the original I won't get the nostalgia value but I want to give it a go considering I know how good konami are at what they do. So would you say it's for existing fans only? XD

@Obsidiax ZoE 1 and 2 both play pretty much the same. The second one has alot more weapons, and i think the combat flows alot better (the splitscreen has a few new mechanics which introduce balance into the game, preventing you from spamming "OP" moves", kind of like a mana pool, and you have to recharge when you use it to much (this isn't done in the SP i don't think).

I'm shocked because people act like this is a god send (especially in America). Being a fan of Kojima's work with the Metal Gear franchise, I was expecting this to be good as well. But judging on the gameplay, it looks way too Japanese for my liking.

Dude Armored Core's controls are a bit clunky compared to this. Unless you're talking about a boss mech in Armored Core moving this fast without running out of boost, then yeah, THEN i'll agree with you.

Armored Core: For Answer was awesome, had the most customization i've ever seen in a game, EVER.

Your getting customization and over-redundancy mixed up.

The only good possible aspects of AC4& 4A is the greater freedom of control over your equipped weapons and the ability to put emblems anywhere on your AC . It stops there though.

And Silent Line is a good as an AC game gets, any real AC veteran will tell you that.

Every AC game after SL was really bad.

Now Z.O.E will be king of mecha games unless From Software can pull out a miracle...

you can also apply colors and camo patterns to each seperate peice of your mech, aswell as being able to interchange all 150+ mech peices/weapons with eachother and tuning all the aspects of your mech, its far from redundant, but more along the lines of "intricate".

Zone of the Enders is made for the Japanese Market pretty much by Hideo Kojima! Their taste of gameplay in video games is different than that of North American Markets in general!

BTW, Agetec (OLD Publisher) of Armored Core have sold their IPR to Ubisoft (NEW Publisher), which is more of French Company, and they can do what ever the hell to Armored Core!

Anyhow, French Video Games are very ARTISTIC and very WEIRD with video games such as Omikron and now Heavy Rain!! =/

The Z.O.E series was well received in the U.S.

The only complaint for Z.O.E 2 was it's SHORT length. Apart from that, it played beautifully and was probably one of the best looking titles for the PS2.

On AC, I've heard that a new sequel is in the works. I've heard a rumor that there is a new back weapon that looks like wings and act like a chainsaw:P

And yes I'm familiar with the French video game industry (especially Quantic Dream, the makers of Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain)

Game Informer did NOT give Z.O.E that low score.

I know this because I had that issue. Z.O.E 1 got around a 9 to 9.25.

Z.O.E 2 got an 8.5 complaining about it's overall short length but acknowledged that game-play wise it was superior to 1 in every way.

Game Pro blows and I don't really listen to online rating sites because they are extremely bias.

Game Play wise Z.O.E. is very Kiddie-ish! I know Younger Gamers have not play MechWarrior or Heavy Gear in the MS-DOS day!

Everyone keeps saying this is similar to Armored Core...I think it's a lot more similar to Omega Boost. The free-float, 360° turn, multiple laser per single enemy, camera, not to mention each level in Omega Boost is referred to as "Zone".
