  • he had some usefull abilitys ill admit, but there were atleast 17 other demons id prefer to use other then him. But i agree that the music playing during his encounter in the amal network and during the fight was SICK

  • I remember this, I love this so much, battle with Dante,

  • I love how you never actually defeat Dante in the game, and it's even implied that he let's you live to see things through.

  • @Mecer

    Too badass to be defeated.

  • IS HE EVEN AIMING ANYMORE?! THEN WHY AM I GETTING HIT?!

  • @TheDemonicGate He doesn't even NEED to aim, he's just that badass. LOL

  • Jackpot.

  • OMG!!! So Thumbs up for this!!!!

  • After dealing good amount of damages.

Dante: Are you having fun? Me too.

  • hmmm shit just got realllllll *bullet time bullet time bullet time* me: when will it end?????

  • Raidou doesn't deserve battle music this awesome...

  • @Onoku1690 summons moh shuvuu*

  • @juicedup14 ... Why summon such a low tier demon? Unless you spent a hour or so fusing up and down the tiers to make up for being low tier...

  • @nejiharuno ugh its not abount power its about cutuness! =^.^=

  • @nejiharuno

I think he's referring to the version of Nocturne where Raidou takes Dante's place. He summon Moh Shuvuu to use his version of De-kunda.

  • Beautiful background.

  • Does this theme also play if you fight Raidou in the other version of Nocturne?

  • 1. Watch "Regular Show".

    2. Watch the episode "This Is My Jam"

    3. Memorize the Aw Snap lyrics

    4. 0:38

    5. FFFFFFFFFFFFF

  • @greengeo2 I cannot unhear it. lol

  • "You're about to fight Dante, he's going to wipe the floor with you and it'll be fucking sweet."

  • can you please put the download link on the description...?

  • ... I'll give you ten minutes to decide

Which would you rather end up in... a Coffin or a Dumpster?

  • ダンテ こわいこわいこわい・・・ヽ(´Д`ヽ)(/´Д`)/イヤァ~

  • @yaccho2009 He really is...

  • This battle's gettin crazy

  • @Urmean15 LET ROCK!!!

  • @Urmean15 This trial's gettin crazy...

  • @Urmean15

*presses duke box button 3 times

    and then punches*

    *video music kicks in*

  • Aw man, for a sec there i thought this was the opening theme to pokemon GS "Ready go!"

  • Maybe we'll have SMT V make the protagonist a demi-angel, and he/she'll be hunted down by Bayonetta.

  • @ClownVonDavid As cheesy as that sounds... I'd still want to see that happen.

  • @ClownVonDavid Alternatively, a battle royale between Dante, Bayonetta and the Demi-Fiend.

  • @NeroBlackheart666 And the winner, Dante. If not for the bad-ass music that follows him, then for his stylish abilities.

  • アマラ深界で詰んだなー

  • So...that's how it feels to be on the receiving end...

Seriously, even though Dante kicked my ass for the first few times, when I leveled up and somewhat defeated him...this feeling of badassery coming from a video game shouldn't be possible.

  • by some amazin feat they actually made Dante even more awsome in Nocturne compared to DMC

  • The natural Half-demon vs. the human turned demon...an epic battle ensues! Heh, sounds like an anime ep. title.

  • The natural Half-demon vs. the human turned demon...an epic battle ensues! Heh, sounds like an anime ep. title.

  • I always imagine Dante repedeately using Bullet Time when the song gets from 0:39 to 1:05

  • @Destroyah1234567

Well, it's the climax of the music.

  • DANTE IS SUPER BAD ASS!!!!! X3

  • What's better than battling Dante? Have Dante in your party and battling alongside you !!!!!!

  • Sounds similar to IMAGINE's music actually.

  • The part that starts at 0:39 is badass.

  • I'm just glad I fought DMC2 Dante and not DMC3 Dante, I mean hes badass in both of them, but in 3.....its self explainitory

  • sounds like demon of darkness from DeSu.

  • @reaperofthedamned07 No. "DeSu"'s Demon of Darkness sounds like this. Get them timelines set =P

  • @MemoriesOfRiku It' doesn't particularly matter. He heard that before this, so his frame of reference is different.

  • Shin Megami Tensei + Dante = Best RPG game in history. Hands down.

  • ASOMBROSO

  • The only thing I was hoping was....please don't use devil trigger...it won't even be a battle...just a beatdown

  • @ShizukaAssassin I think you guys are giving Dante a little too much value here. Fanboyism is great and all, but let's not forget that Dante is just the son of a "Legendary Dark Knight Sparda", half a demon. That's pretty much it. The Devil Trigger just allows him to become a Demon, physically.

Demi-Fiend already is half a Demon - not to mention he got his powers from Lucifer himself.

Dante is powerful, yes. But the Demi-fiend has the power to shape an entire World. No comparison there.

  • @MemoriesOfRiku Dante still has power even in his "human" form, demi-fiend is in the same category as Dante, because demi-fiends are human-demon hybrids, so they're no different, and the power from lucifer is optional depending on the ending you want, but everyone has their own opinion, either way, this game is badass nonetheless XD

  • @ShizukaAssassin Not entirely correct lol. Demi-FiendS don't exist. THE Demi-Fiend exists, translated to Hitoshura, that being Naoki. Dante is a human-demon hybrid.

I don't agree that Dante still has power as a human since he was never truly a human.

I also don't agree that the Power from Lucifer varies from ending. I already finished in every ending and the Demi-Fiend not only has the power to create a new World, he is also the only one capable to do so in the Scriptures of Miroku, ac. Hikawa.

  • @ShizukaAssassin Though yeah. The dame is badass nonetheless and that's what matters haha.

  • This is the sort of music that makes it feel like he still beat you even if you win.

  • come and get me you silver-haired FREAK!

  • Yeah, this is devil may cry style. But, this is stupid, i mean, who will fight dante with this music playing? IS SUICIDE!

  • personally, i didn't think Dante being in the game was such a big deal.

  • I jizzed in my pants. I am a girl, yet somehow I jizzed in my pants. It takes a truly excellent song to pull a stunt like that...

  • This song doesn't fit Raidou at all, he should have gotten a different theme song.

  • @EpicWin12 Agreed, Raidou in Nocturne would have been much more awesome if they changed the battle theme. Also, "Go, Raidou!" from the Devil Summoner games would fit perfectly in the 3rd Kalpa chase scene.

  • Comment removed

  • This song makes Dante look even cooler, and it kinda feels like Devil May Cry

  • You can leave it to dante to have one of the best fight music in every game

  • I remember the cut-scene before this battle as he's diving down the tower towards you and I thought to myself...wow I'm about to get my ass handed to me in a stylish manner, and no one else but Dante could pull it off

  • This song was written for Raidou Kuzunoha, IIRC, but they used it in the dante battle as well.

  • Dante's devil trigger in DMC3 is actually designed by the person who designed the monsters for Nocturne. o 3o

    So I've heard.

  • @xXBoogiepopXx That is correct. The terms of the agreement for Dante to be allowed into Nocturne was so that they would borrow the artist wh odesigned both Vergil and Dante's devil trigger forms for Devil May Cry 3, who is also the lead designer of many SMT monsters.

  • @xXBoogiepopXx and Vergil's

  • yeah its true

thats why Dante is in Nocturne

  • @xXBoogiepopXx yes it is true it was an exchange for nocturne to have dante, that the lead designer of monsters in nocturne would also have to design dantes DMC3 DT

  • @xXBoogiepopXx Kaneko Kazuma right ?

  • one amazing track

  • this sound is perfect for dante *seufz*

    5 Stars :3

  • Just a tip for those playing the game, when Dante asks if you want him to join pick heads for the coin toss, and you only have to pay 1 macca (its always heads), just for anybody who didn't know, badass music btw

  • @ShizukaAssassin Thanks for the tip, the only reason I knew to pick heads was because I played DMC2 before this so knew about Dante's coin XD

  • @ShizukaAssassin yeah is the coin he uses in DMC2.

  • EPIC

  • I love how this actually sounds like it could be in a DMC game. It makes for an epic in game experience.

I love DMC and the SMT games, so having Dante in an SMT game is instant win, I say.

  • Do you have to jump through any hoops to get him in your party, or does it just happen eventually?

Oh yeah, bitching song. It could use a guitar solo, but I say that about everything.

  • @GuiltlessGear If you want Dante in your party, you would have to be headed in the True Demon ending. To do that, collect all the Candelabrum, go in the final Kalpa and you will get him for a price. That itself is a huge task but worth it.

  • Well, you CAN get Dante without getting the True Demon ending, but by the time you get to him, you might as well just go for it anyways.

  • You can jump off? Damn, that would have saved me a lot of trouble.

  • Shortly after getting Dante, the game basically gives you a "this is your last chance to leave" choice; pretty sure Metatron basically tells you to turn back before things get any worse. If you fight Metatron, you're locked into the ending.

  • That's good to know, but was your comment directed to Guiltless Gear?

  • You're locked into the ending once you view the last scene at the very bottom of the Kalpas, not whether or not you've beaten Metatron.

Very useful if you want to fuse for Metatron but don't want the True Demon Ending.

  • ...

In that case, I'll get him in my new game+ playthrough...

  • Thanks, by the way.

  • Everytime I see Dante I think "Man, he is one badass for killing demons" until he starts shooting me. Then I just think "Omg he's gonnna kill me!!"

  • Comment removed

  • This theme basically means. .

"You're fighting Dante and he's going to kick your ass and look like a total badass doing it."

  • @UchihaItachi505 And he does.

    Several goddamn times.

  • @UchihaItachi505 Until Demi-Fiend beats him into submission multiple times to join the ranks of the Demons that he commands, of course.

  • Just won against him. The fight was really cool damn :D

  • 0:40 BITCHIN GUITAR SOLO

  • Man do I want the sondtrack from this game!!!

  • You and me both!! xDD

  • Dude, I got BOTH soundtracks. Send me a message with your email and I'll send them in a winRAR file.

  • Dante's useless. If he could learn pierce, then I'd change that opinion.

  • Acutally Dante is very useful, just not against Lucifer.

  • I used him against Lucifer, I did fine. All those critical hits really added up after awhile lol.

He's still the best random battler in the game, though.

  • omg seriously this is awsome

  • Leave it to Dante to have the best battle theme in the game.

I mean, this theme is basically screaming "LOOK AT HOW AWESOME YOUR OPPONENT IS COMPARED TO YOU!"

  • He is awesome.... UNTIL YOU SMASH HIM INTO THE GROUND! Still, who jumps off of a sky scraper in order to fight somebody? Only Dante does because he is a bad ass!

  • Fun fact: If you try the same thing, you end up at the bottom of the building with only 1 HP left, which obvously means you are not badass enough, even after you beat him.

  • I did jump off the building when the option arose because I didn't want to travel all the way down again. The Demi Fiend is still pretty cool if you ask me. He pretty much becomes the strongest being to ever exist by the end of the game. I definitely think Dante could have taken the Demi Fiend outside the context of an RPG though. The concept of the Demi Fiend is cool too because he is a blank slate and you are the one who makes him awesome or crap.

  • Yeah, but Dante has boss HP. The most you can lose from that is 998. Dante, being a boss, can afford to lose that much several times over.

Video game logic is fun! :D

  • @XGluon You're seriously comparing the Demi-Fiend to Dante?

In case you never truly realized, Dante was featured for two reasons:

    1 - marketing

2 - to show players how little their heroes are compared to the end of the world

Story-wise, too, Dante isn't as close as powerful as the Demi-Fiend is.

  • @MemoriesOfRiku Not that it matters how strong he is, since Neutral is always cannon, and, if I'm right, he loses his power, in the end.

  • @TestaXDizzy There isn't a canon ending. And if there was, it would be the True Demon Ending, considering a vision of the Demi-Fiend appears in Digital Devil Saga as already a made Demon. It is still the ONLY indication as to which ending would make more sense in that universe.

Also, taking that into consideration, Dante gets killed unless he yields to Lucifer, and if you consider some of the other endings, then he's a normal human, will get killed eventually or becomes nothing.

  • @MemoriesOfRiku It's really hard to tell what happens to Dante. You can't get him to leave your party if he joins, and he can't be summoned in a new cycle. So if it's not TDE, he never sees the Demi-Fiend again and...whatever, he goes back to the DMC universe?

If it is TDE, then he probably fights alongside the Demi-Fiend...or the deal runs out and he leaves...or whatever...

  • @skuckon It's impossible to tell, in an official way - but it becomes obvious to fans of both the universes. There's no way that Dante would submit to serve the Prince of Darkness, considering that's the type of thing he fights against. I highly doubt they intended Dante to be from a completely different universe, seen as he was literally hired. Not to mention the rest of the endings he's submitted to whatever the Demi-Fiend chooses.

  • @MemoriesOfRiku

It makes more sense if the Demi-Fiend is an all around great guy and brings the old world back, because Dante's the world saving type, but I couldn't see him going with Demi-Fiend's plan otherwise.

  • @Cloud801 That would be the Neutral Ending, yes. That's very likely the canon ending to Nocturne, not that I really believe that Dante is from the same universe as Shin Megami Tensei at all (doesn't make a lot of sense, but there's no explanation over it, so we just gotta roll with it).

  • @MemoriesOfRiku However, you have to remember that SMT-verse God is a total dick, and Lucifer's practically the good guy compared to him. He even says in Strange Journey that though he doesn't care much for humans, he'll never abandon them. God on the other hand... "I don't like how this world's going, let's destroy it." So looking at it that way, Dante might side with him.

  • @Lezardstherapist Please don't take what Lucifer says at face value. We still have no clue what his true plans are. Let's not forget that if the True Demon Ending is evident of Lucifer's wishes, then all of humanity is abandoned without a second thought.

  • @UltimaLuminaire However, he's appeared in MULTIPLE games, and even changed his approach ever since SMT1. In SMT1 he was just as evil as God, but in a different way. By SMT2 he got his act together and actually started doing good things, rather than merely things contrary to YHVH. Not to mention that the Chaos endings in most of the SMT games are happy ones. Law is downer, and Neutral is bittersweet.

  • @Lezardstherapist I'm not sure where you got this preconception of Law being a downer and Neutral being bittersweet. Law is merely the path of YHVH's laws (1000 year kingdom). Neutral is the path of freedom and human choice. Chaos seems like a "good" ending until you realize that in EVERY Chaos path, you've been dancing to Lucifer's tune. This is consistent. This makes sense. This is why Neutral is Neutral. In fact, Lucifer compliments you in Neutral endings. "Good" and "bad" is relative in SMT.

  • @UltimaLuminaire True. But.. YHVH is still a dick. Even his own angels agreed in SMT2.

  • @Lezardstherapist Yes, plus poor Aleph...

  • @UltimaLuminaire And we all suspect his fate.

  • @Lezardstherapist It's funny I never even hear of Aleph, let alone SMT2 on any Persona boards.

  • @Lezardstherapist Wait aren't those 2 angels talking about the fake Yahweh you fight first before the real one?

  • @MemoriesOfRiku They clearly state that all SMT end in the Neutral ending, which is why the next game starts - problems are never solved.

  • @TestaXDizzy This quite goes against the theory of Aleph's reincarnation, AND the "official" ending taken to the Online sequel to Shin Megami Tensei II. That's why, whereas I do realize the sense behind multiple neutral endings would cause an endless cycle, it still leaves a lot to be answered. I'd think Nocturne's ending would be Neutral, yes. Considering Strange Journey has already been officially dubbed "Shin Megami Tensei 4".

But what about Shin Megami Tensei II?

  • @XGluon looool i laughed hard when i read this xDDDD but you're absolutely right! no one can surpass dante U_U

  • @fr801 Fanboyism at its' best.

Actually, a lot of characters can surpass Dante. Rather easily, I might add. Demi-Fiend for instance "surpassed" him so much, Dante gave in to a kind of servitude. Let's not even go too far. Virgil himself defeated Dante, even Nero forced him against a wall being considerably younger and presumably weaker than him.

No, in fact, Dante has the worst type of personality a warrior can have, and it shows. Reason why he was used in SMT, to show that there are NO heroes.

  • @MemoriesOfRiku

    1. Demi Fiend is canonically the most powerful hero in the SMT universe, Dante's submission if you play demifiend as evil is simply Demi-fiend using him like a tool.

    2. Virgil got his ass kicked twice by Dante, the only time Dante lost to Virgil was before he unlocked his power.

    3. Dante was screwing with Nero, if you couldn't tell he let that shit happen then you need a pair of glasses friend.

As for there being no heroes in SMT, it depends on what you, as the player decide.

  • @Cloud801 1. Not entirely true, considering Aleph defeated YHWH, who is substantially more powerful than Lucifer, hence "war", whereas the Demi-Fiend never actually defeats Lucifer and if following the True Demon Ending, he ends up serving him in his army.

    2. True, but it's still a defeat, considering Virgil didn't use the Devil Trigger either.

    3. That's what I meant about "the worst type of personality for a warrior". Had Dante not been arrogant, then Nero wouldn't have even touched him.

  • @MemoriesOfRiku

That's the thing about Dante though, when things start getting serious he throws down. Sure he's sarcastic and chiding, but he knows when to be serious. It's both a flaw and his endearing character trait.

The whole screwing with Nero thing was to see what he could do, Nero interested him as a heroic person, and I think he saw a bit of himself in the kid.

  • @Cloud801 It was definitely interesting to see the reflection of Dante in the younger Nero. I'm sure Dante thought: "Wow, well that's a kid in the nads. That's what I used to sound like?"

Though, I always get a vibe of a sort of teenage anger coming from Nero, whereas all I could feel from the younger Dante was downright bad-ass attitude of someone who just knows he's the man.

I truly liked that Dante became serious after the first battle against the Demi-Fiend. I felt he was holding back.

  • @MemoriesOfRiku Aleph's victory was superficial at best. It is stated in the translation of SMT2 that you merely fought YHWH's avatar. Nocturne gives multiple hints that Kagatsuchi is the avatar brought back for Conception.

Hitoshura wields near limitless power, and it is admitted by Lucifer that there is no notion of where that power will take them. There would be no reason to choose Hitoshura otherwise. True Demon End is Lucifer's efforts comes to fruition. Failure is not an option.

  • @Cloud801 It can be argued that Hitoshura is not actually evil in the True Demon End. Think about everything Lucifer revealed to you and how. Lucifer portrayed a world caught in the cruel laws of an almighty god. He even went so far as to manifest a woman with eerie resemblance to your teacher. Think about that for a moment... It's very possible that even at the end of the game, Hitoshura is fighting for something far greater than just good and evil.

  • @UltimaLuminaire

Eugh, Shin Megami Tensei; Nocturne was all about discovering the reason the new existence should follow.

The Shijima, Musubi and Yosuga were the three reasons.

The true ending is all about the demi-Fiend rejecting all of those in the end and allowing for no reason.

The idea of the open story is to allow the player to decide what they want the new world to be about. The sixth ending is about Lucifer shaping the main character into an avatar of himself.

  • @MarxIzalias We can only deduce the "true" end from Strange Journey. I'm not sure what you're "eugh" was about. I'm not even sure what you're trying to explain. The 3 endings in which you ignore the reasons are Neutral, Demon, and True Demon. In Neutral you give the old world a second chance, defying YHWH in the process. In Demon, you perpetuate the Vortex World, creating a utopia for demons. In True Demon you heed Lucifer and break YHWH's laws beyond repair. The player decides the what and why.

  • @UltimaLuminaire Have you even played the game? * Shijima "All at one with the world." * Musubi "I am the center of the world." * Yosuga "The world only needs beautiful things." Neutral: A mix of all three and therefore no purpose, things return to normality. Demonic: Where you embrace the demonic element of the demi-fiend. Lucifer's Call: Where you do as Lucifer says and become his avatar. The real ending is the Lucifer's call hence the alternate title.
  • @MarxIzalias Dude, wtf. Don't attack me, give me a freaking argument.

First of all, yes, I've played through the game more times than I care to count.

Second, Shijima, Musubi, and Yosuga may "mean" what you think they mean, but they're not. They are fallacies. At the end of every rejection, they show proof of how their Reason contradicts their existence.

Third, I never said you rejected reasons in Neutral. YOU DEFY GOD. Lucifer hints at this. Deal with it.

  • @UltimaLuminaire

Lol, they aren't fallacies they are the three "Reasons". Each time you beat one, they realise more and more that they were wrong, but that doesn't mean they are, it just means your beating it out of them.

The Lucifers call/Rejection is the canonical ending because you fight hitoshura in the next game on a new cycle, which is reference to the new cycle which was denied in Nocturne, In Avatar Tuner and he is rock hard to beat and has his True Demon powers.

  • @MarxIzalias Avatar Tuner is outside of the central series. It is a spin off, much like Persona is. The Hitoshura you fight in Avatar Tuner is data, and can come from any point in his post-game. Canon refers specifically to the main series. The rest mean nothing.

  • @UltimaLuminaire It's like comics they DO count

You can considere the others Alternate Universes or something like that

  • @OmegaChosen0 Then they are not the same. Nocturne hints that the other spin offs are alternate universes, but I'm being frank. They do not impact the main SMT series at all. However, the main SMT series DOES impact the alternate universes, as evidence in Nocturne and its portrayal of the Conception. In this regard, SMT differs from American comics such as Marvel and DC.

  • @UltimaLuminaire Only cause Demi-Fiend is one of the strongest beings in the entire multi-verse

  • @OmegaChosen0 Actually, I was referring to the nature of the Conception, as divulged by Lucifer. Hitoshura is one of the strongest MCs that SMT has ever had, but his achievements were possible because the Conception is all-encompassing. If any other Reason is chosen, if any other character had won, the result would have affected the state of the multi-verse until the next Conception. The evidence from core SMT games add up consistently against the spin-offs thanks to Nocturne. American comics...

  • @OmegaChosen0

It would be awesome if SMT had crossover.

  • @rpgguy999 Bullet Witch(only the controls in that game and AI sucked everything else was awesome) DMC SMT GOW Bayonetta Darksiders and Darkstalkers XOver

    Come on be imaginative

  • @MarxIzalias True Demon means that it is the true triumph of demons. It does not mean that is the canon ending, sir. If the True Demon ending really happened, there can be no SMT4: Strange Journey. That is why True Demon is not the real ending, regardless of the alternate title. In fact, the alternate title was only used to sidestep copyright infringement, so it really should not take precedence over "Nocturne".

  • @MemoriesOfRiku you're right ^_^

  • damn this song gets me so PUMPED! xD

  • Does Anybody know where i may download this song?

  • Kickass battle theme. Enough said. XD

  • coolest song in the game

  • I do like how this song sounds like it could have been from a DMC game, particularly the first one...

  • Yeah! It sounds like Ultra Violet from DMC 1!

  • lol,the first time i saw it,i was like waiting for dante to have a skeleton head like the rest of the fiends XDD

  • King?

    Yeah.

    Here's your crown. *boom*

  • This is the kind of music that screams "look at how awesome your opponent is". It's great if you like Dante, but I personally prefer Raidou was there instead.

  • LOL I like Dante, but I see where you're coming from.

  • Don't know if you noticed, but the Dante cameo was done because the guy who did the artwork for Nocturne and Persona designed Dante's DT's in DMC3. Duh.

  • Actually, one of the staff members happened to be a fan of Devil May Cry and came up with the idea of having Dante in SMTN. In exchange for Dante's presence in Nocturne the artist who designed Dante in the Shin Megami Tensei series was brought into the Devil May Cry 3 project to design both Dante and Vergil's devil trigger form.

Correct me if I'm wrong though.

  • Hmmm, that makes sense. Honestly what I posted was what I vaguely remember reading somewhere on the interbutts so I'm pretty sure I'm incorrect.

  • Sweet! \m/

Typical of Dante to have the best theme song in anything he's in. XD
