I have to say though, that I think Billy Cox is much better than Noel Redding was. Most of my absolute favorite Jimi Hendrix compositions were done with Billy Cox. God, I would give anything for Jimi to still be alive writing and composing all of those genius songs. Losing Jimi way too early was the biggest tragedy ever in music history. Jimi himself had no idea how brilliant he really was. He played some excellent shows in September of 1970 that he thought were awful. If he only knew the truth
Neil Young inducted Dylan and Mc Cartney as well .Thats not a fluke or lucky in my mind .Eric Clapton and Pete Townsend great as they are and were, cannot be compared to Neil Young who has lived and breathed his music from when he started right up to today .Neil Young is still doing what he has always done making great tunes and melodies that resonate and are like the undertow of a tide
@julyarchives Yes that's a great statement about Neil. He's remained loyal to music and his path. He is definitely still going strong. One of the few who are still going strong and in the end when all is said and done, he will have one of the greatest bodies of work in history.
I think Clapton should have made the induction. Or Pete Townshend. Or, even better, Linda Keith or Chas Chandler (without whose efforts we don't know what would have happened to Jimi). It's a shame, though, that Hendrix had to wait 4 years before being inducted. He should have been in the first batch with the Beatles and Elvis.
allthough i appreciate neil young he does not deserve to induct hendrix in my opinion. at the time either Jimmy page or Eddie Van Halen should have or maybe slash
@OKandNOWwhat - Eddie said about Page: Jimmy Page is an excellent producer. Led Zeppelin 1 and Led Zeppelin 2 are classics. As a player. He's very good in the studio. I never saw him play well live. He's very sloppy. He plays like he's got a broken hand and he's two years old. But if you put out a good album and play like a two-year-old live. What's the purpose?" - Guitar World, January 1981
Neil Young the ultimate in hippyness, some of his later music i thought was more than a little weak but with all the old school neil i can get by. Yo what was that giant white rock hanging from your nose?
@RebelThoughts Possibly - the evidence I've read is compelling. However with both of them dead I don't think that we all ever know the truth. A trafic loss either way.
Why didnt they have Mitch & Noel accept? Have Neil give the award to the remaining survivors. Not well thought out IMHO.

jimi hendrix was one with his instrument... that is fucking badass. He is the only one that was one with his instrument. R.I.P James Marshall Hendrix

Neil Young is truly the Second Greatest Guitarist ever.

Very appropriate that a Very Mighty Guitarist inducts the Mightiest of them all.

Right you are! In many respects, Neil Young was more prolific than Bob Dylan.

@greatbighand I think you have to wait 25 years after the release of the first album to be inducted.

@RedWolf3487 In that case I beg pardon, though that rule is moronic. And still Neil Young inducting him is a shame.

@RedWolf3487 you dont have to think. thats the rule

Actually, I never heard Jimi sound better than he did with Mitch & Billy Cox. Noel's bass sounded like he was using a fuzz box.

@monkeypi6
Consider that Page and Van Halen do not respect Jimi as much as Neil Young does. And Slash was not Jimi's contemporary. Neil met him.

@newcarscent7 Hendrix was murdered. Don't buy that bullshit story about OD. He was killed by his manager Mike Jeffries.
