No it's not. As long as you're careful and read the comments and check the amount of seeders, you'll be fine. I use it all the time for songs and $#!t.
if its meant to be free, then it doesnt matter how you download it, torrents are just a faster alternative. for example on the ubuntu website you can download it from the closest point to where you are, or you can download it as a torrent. the closest point takes about an hour, the torrent takes about 3 minutes

I have one 4850 from Sapphire only 512MB and it does me great. Maxes games like Cod4 with 60~120FPS. If you have a good cooler you could overclock the 4850 also (or just auto tune it with Catalyst).
Torrent sites have ratings and comments to help you know if there's viruses etc. To think that all files have virus or some hacking system in them is just stupid, and you should be safe even with free security like avast, you have to bee careful with safety mainly if you are downloading some weird stuff (p0rn).

The government has an obsession with torrents, mostly because P2P programs are easy as hell to track, and they like to target uploaders, and no matter what, P2P means uploading. The number of people who gets busted for torrents outnumber people who get busted for downloading off hosting websites by at least 100x. And im running a good 1gigabit router with 27mbps download and 4 or 5 upload, and I rarely get past 250kbps on utorrent. However, PeerGuardian + professional blacklists = waay more safe
The government only properly target people who upload the torrents onto torrent websites and seed the first copy of the files as they are the people who have originally distributed the files... They simply cannot bust every person that downloads, as that is millions... And if you mask your ip address they cannot even trace your ISP.. I've had and seen upload speeds of up what my bandwidth will hold (18mbps - 2.25mbps) and peer guardian does very little to stop you connecting to bad IPs
I use peerguardian and found it blocks other programs as well, and seeing as the bad IP's change their address constantly its kinda pointless. 18 megabits translates to 2.25 megabytes. I live on my towns exchange =) lol
To END the myth, you can get a trojan from, say, an mp3, or even a .txt file. And its not hard to setup, most new RATs (Remote administration tools) can bind there server with any kind of file, and it doesnt have to be executed. It just has to be on your computer and they can easily format your hard drive, get credit cards, steal passwords, all that shit. Usually an AV will pick it up, but there are ways past that too, and once the files on your computer, he has a connection and a vulnerability

Also guys remember to use peerguardian while downloading torrents, i think he forgot to say it. Peerguardian blocks your IP (computer address) from malicious organizations.
If you base your torrent downloads on seeders and comments, then do a virus scan when it's finished then your virtually in the clear. Torrent download speeds have ranged significantly for me, from ridiculously fast to ridiculously slow.
yeh always check for the seeds and forget about the peers... i used to download something with 1500 seeds and 6000 peers, but still a dl speed of 300 kB/s. oo and i dont virus scan... i use TPB and there u have trusted users: i always download from them, never had a virus b4.

Also guys remember to use peerguardian while downloading torrents, i think he forgot to say it. Peerguardian blocks your IP (computer address) from malicious organizations.

If you base your torrent downloads on seeders and comments, then do a virus scan when it's finished then your virtually in the clear. Torrent download speeds have ranged significantly for me, from ridiculously fast to ridiculously slow.

yeah, the speed most of the time depends on how many other people are downloading at the same time. the more the faster
ordinary downloading= the more the slower

yeh always check for the seeds and forget about the peers... i used to download something with 1500 seeds and 6000 peers, but still a dl speed of 300 kB/s. oo and i dont virus scan... i use TPB and there u have trusted users: i always download from them, never had a virus b4.

the utorrent software is pretty good. Basically what he said. It's cool though that bands are releasing legally free torrents. This technology does have a lot of potential in a legal sense. It's free advertising after all.

well i used torrents years ago, and mine was in kbs...lol. if it was in mbs i would use it. i know that its goot to have a larger number of seeders than leachers per torrent, but....

dude thats because torrets bandwith is from people that's why u need alot of people uploading because your downloading what they are uploading

pieces of the file its peer 2 peer so when the first person to upload it stops uploading your relying on them to get it!

You should just upgrade your package from Bell, I get over 500kb/s and I'm at Bell. You probably just have a cheaper package.

Ouch, I'd call them. I'm paying for like 8gb/s but whatever. Im not too worried about it, I only download music everynow and then. My gaming is unaffected.

we've been calling them for 2 months now and one tech support guy said we can only get 6mb/s we took about 3 online test and get less than 1 mb constantly and now in the first week of the transition a bell rep called us and said she checked we can get 16mb/s and what went through my ming is "THOSE FUCKING LIARS !" i mean honestly!

torrent's are oldschool these days, now most of the ppl download stuff from warez-bb (which is a forum where you can find links from rapidshare and stuff) and it's alot more safe also cause V.I.P members there never post any bad stuff or stuff with viruses in them, in torrents almost every other file has a virus

I'm good. I'll settle with Limewire 5.2. I've never had any problems with that nor viruses or spywares. Even with the previous versions of Limewire...
