This is crap.. the ginger is old ginger, shallots are not Siamese shallots, not chopped fine enough, u should have used young ginger, what kinda chef uses maggi chicken stock, that's BS, u should have simmered the chicken and use its stock instead.. This video is just to advertise the maggi product...
I tried this today. It was not as what i expected it to be. The chicken is not cooked properly and the stock added is not enough. Now i have to take out the chicken separately and cook it so that its not raw. I think you got to cook the chicken first then add the rice not both together....!
@premietha .....That's about a $300 rice cooker she has, most inexpensive rice cookers won't cook this meal completely. what I would do is press your 'cook' button again and let it cook a little more if needed. The trick to this meal is the chicken and the rice cooking together. If you cook it separately it kinda defeats the purpose
Raw rice can't be added into a wok/kwali which has a teflon coating. The raw and hard grains would scratch the coating which would make the non-stick coating less effective, not to mention that you would be eating bits of teflon in the rice!

I think this show is to teach kids or beginners how to cook. You can tell by the way the lady teaches the young lady. Thanks for this video. It's better to cook by yourself than eating out all the time. I'll let my kids watch this so when I'm not around, they can cook for themselves or better yet, they can cook for me! :)
well...for those of u coming here and learning how to cook hainanese chicken rice intended for teenagers going abroad to further their studies....well....is kind of stupid. i've tried it and it does taste a lil like hainanese chicken rice, and i've used the knowledge and now i'm able to cook authentic hainanese chicken rice, seriously u guys need to know this video is for 1 target audience, and that's student - who btw, don't have all the time in the world to cook the real thing.

That is not how to make HAinanese chicken rice! See the other video, even those 2 british women cook better and the RIGHT hainanese chicken rice than you lot asians..
