Corelli, Pavarotti, Kraus, Björling, Flórez?, Only Di Stefano does the diminuendo, Bergonzi, Carreras (and his way of changing of syllable), ?, ??, ???
Here are my guesses: 1: Corelli, from Salut, Demeure 2: Pavarotti, Pour Mon Ame 3: Alfredo Kraus, from A Te O Cara 4: Bjoerling, from Di Quella Pira 5: Florez, from Guillaume Tell 6: Di Stefano, from Salut, Demeure 7: Bergonzi, from Che Gelida Manina 8: Stumped, from Di Quella Pira 9: Stumped, from Ecco Ridente 10: Gedda, that aria from Postillon 11: Tucker, from Che Gelida Manina 12: Stumped, from Salut, Demeure
Not enough music for me and I don't recognise my favourite tenor by his High Cs, especially the ones that were never written by the composer. It seems composers like Verdi weren't men enough to write them according to what I have read here. Tenors have to sing High Cs to show they are men? OK let the tenors have the stage, no orchestra, no sopranos, baritones or bases, no chorus, no sets, no nothing, just tenors singing High Cs. Guess what? No audience!!!!!!!!!
yeah, the #11 is vezzani .you can check on a video with the high c from "salut, demeure" sang by 23 different tenors.vezzani is the first one.check here :
how ridiculous is this kind of singing ? I cannot take this serious. If someone likes high notes he should change his taste, forget opera and listen to some popular styles. In many pieces of heavy metal the c5 is one of the deeper notes. But I admit opera singers are much louder........
@issueagent I believe the only tenor who could sing as high as all those notes was Corelli who was famous for having fortissimo high chest tones (A, B and C, which was rare)
I love Bocelli, and I firmly believe he is the most beautiful voice to ever grace this earth. BUT, like critics enjoy saying, Bocelli is all passion but no power, and as much as I hate to say it, the critics are right. Real opera tenors like Pavarotti, Domingo, and Carreras are powerful and have the ability to sustain very high notes for long periods of time. Does this make me love Bocelli any less? Hell No! It just lets me appreciate all talented artists.
1CORELLI 2PAVAROTTI 3KRAUS 4BJORLING 5FLOREZ 6DI STEFANO 7 BERGONZI 8 ALAGNA 8(2)KOZLOVSKY 9 GEDDA 10 TUCKER 11 VEZZANI so this is the solution.... come on now we are waiting about 2 years !
@cfisher389 LOL, I just love these Pavarotti fans who can't even recognize the only tenor they know! Number 10 doesn't even remotely sound like Pavarotti. Listen to number 2 again.:)
@Slayerplsko Can you sing a C5? I can! #10 is the best in this take. Pavarotti while good, can not even begin to compare to Andrea Bocelli, the best singer to ever walk this Earth...
@cfisher389 you can't even compare Bocelli to Pavarotti. Bocelli needs about 50 microphones down his throat to be heard, and, even still, he's so quiet
#1. Franco Corelli #2. Luciano Pavarotti #3. maybe Alfredo Kraus #4. Jussi Björling #5. I think Juan Diego Florez #6. Giuseppe di Stefano #7. Carlo Bergonzi? #8. son curioso #8. Fritz Wunderrlich? #9. Nicolai Gedda?
I love baritones! You can sing Scarpia! And Dappertutto! :) I prefer listening to baritones. Do you know Ruggero Raimondi? he is my favourite baritone along with Tito Gobbi, Sherril Milnes and some others ^^ Nicolae Herlea for instance, listen to his Te Deum, that's great. ^^
It makes me feel good when I read this comment because I'm a baritone. Its nice to see there are people who like us too. I use to wish I was a tenor, but I'm coming to love my baritone label more and more as time passes. And yes, I have listened to a little Ruggero Raimondi and I think hes awesome. :)
You can be soo happy to be a baritone. But I guess it is just with women who always wish to be a soprano (at least that's what I'd love to be if I'd sing). But unlike women, I believe that men, especially baritones sound just awesome. They can sound romantic or bad, absolutley cool.
@ElisabettaVS Ruggero Raimondi is not only an amazing baritone but also a terrific actor! You've seen him in Losey's Don Giovanni haven't you? I love him. Pity we don't hear as much from baritones as we hear from tenors. I'm a tenor and I find it most unfortunate.
@tneprescintr He is! Alas, I haven't seen him as Losey's Don Giovanni, but I have seen him as Scarpia in many productions - he's wonderful! You don't have to think it is unfortunate to be a tenor, at least you don't die alone as the bad guy in opera and you always get the girl ;))
high c is not this hard to reach as some people think. maybe depends on the song you sing of course. but i think, hitting high f is legendary. not high c.
The uploader wasn't saying that it was easy to hit the high C. He was saying on "#4 still pretty easy" he was suggesting it was easy to guess who was singing the high C. I don't think you'll find a person that says the High C is easy to hit.
1 corelli 2 pavarotti (famous voice) 3 kraus (very easy to recognise his voice) 4 bjorling 5 juan diego florez (it's him, no doubt, my favourite) 6 di stefano (his high c has a kind of resonance others don't have) 7 tito beltran?? 8 alagna?? 8 ?? 9 gedda 10 tucker (LA SPERANZA!!!) 11 caruso?? (hard) i lost it during the last few...vr hard to guess...
1. Franco Corelli 2. Luciano Pavarotti 3. Alfredo Kraus 4. Jussi Bjoerling 5. Juan Diego Florez 6. Giuseppe di Stefano 7. Jose Carreras 8. Roberto Alagna 8. Fritz Wunderlich 9. Nicolai Gedda 10. Richard Tucker 11. Lauritz Melchior
And of course Mingo's supposed high C was the weakest. It must have been difficult to fine one of acceptable quality for Mingo who usually sound painful when he sings anything above a G.
Not Domingo. Its Bergonzi. Note that the C is still a secure one and supported. And his artistic phrasing. Domingo could not have been able to pull that off.
What a cool challenge! I am in awe of many of the posters' abilities.
I wonder how many of these singers, although their skills were of a very high order, might actually have bled from the eyes on the "C." Clearly, different levels of effort were involved in producing that note.
1) Corelli in Faust 2) Pavarotti in La Fille du Regiment 3) Kraus in ???? 4) Bjorling in Trovatore 5) ???? 6) Di Stefano in Faust (amazing) 7) Domingo in La Boheme ??? 8) Bonisolli in Trovatore 9) ????? 10) Gedda on Postillon de Lonjumeau 11) Tucker in La Boheme 12) Billy Goat in Faust not Peerce older than Peerce I think
Too hard, I think they are: 1) Corelli (Faust) 2) Pavarotti (La Fille du Regiment) 3) Kraus (La Sonnambula) 4) Björling (Il Trovatore) 5) Florez (Guillaume Tell) 6) Di Stefano (Faust) 7) Bergonzi (La Bohème) 8) Alagna (Il Trovatore) 9) Wunderlich (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) 10) Gedda (Le postillon de Lonjumeau) 11) Aragall (La Bohème) 12) Peerce (La Bohème)
1-Corelli,2-Pav,3-Kraus 4-Jussi 5-Florez 6-Di Stefano 7-Bergonzi 8-No idea 9-Gedda 10Tucker or Jon Vickers 11-the wonderful Corsican,Vezzani. This was great fun.Grazie mille baritonoguapo for uploading this.
I just want to guess on #11. With that distinctive timbre and heft,# 11 has to be the great and very underrated Corsican,Cesare Vezzani. Please let me know if I'm correct.Grazie mille for posting this.
So, ich denke es ist alles richtig ;-) 1. Corelli - Faust 2. Pavarotti - Regimentstochter 3. Kraus - A te o cara 4. Bjoerling - Di quella pira 5. Florez 6. di Stefano - Faust 7. Bergonzi - Rodolfo 8. Alagna - Di quella pira 9. Wunderlich - Ecco ridente (Deutsch) 10. Gedda - Postilion (Adam) 11. Tucker - Rodolfo 12. Rosvaenge - Faust Best wishes from Cologne Germany
1. correlli 2. pavarotti (infallable production) 3. kraus 4. bjorling(awesome technique, bad recordings) 5. juan diego flores (meh) 6. di stephano (horrible technique) 7. corerras (rare) 8. alagna on a very lucky night maybe. 8. fritz wunderlich (sad story) 9. ghedda 10. Tucker 11. no clue
1. Franco Corelli 2. Luciano Pavarotti 3. Alfredo Kraus 4. Jussi Bjorling 5. Juan Diego Florez 6. Giuseppe Di Stefano 7. Carlo Bergonzi 8a. Roberto Alagna 8b. Frank Lopardo 9. Nicolai Gedda 10. Jussi Bjorling 11. Cesar Vezzani
The following are my guess: 1. Corelli 2. Pavarotti 3. Kraus 4. Bjorling 5. Florez 6. Di Stefano 7. Bergonzi 8. Alagna 8. Domingo 9. Gedda 10. Tucker 11. ????? I really dont know these one
8B definitely is Domingo: one of my favourite singers, but we won't remember him for the high C and here we can hear why... I'd suggest: 1. Corelli 2. Pavarotti 3. Kraus 4. Bjorling 5. Florez 6. Di Stefano 7. Bergonzi 8. Alagna 8. Domingo 9. Gedda 10. Tucker 11. Pffff Lets say Caruso?
Actually, Gedda hit a high D in this aria. (that´s why the C sounds so effortless.) Can't you create a video with "lines that are impossible to sing but are still sung by supermen"? (John McCormack sings a passage in Il mio tesoro intanto without breathing where everybody else breathes once. Or even twice.)(just as an example.)
The only one I´m absolutely certain about is 9. The inimitable Nicolai Gedda! 8B is probably Fritz Wunderlich. (if Björing is here he must have had a bad day.) The best high C? No.2!
1. Franco Corelli 2. Luciano Pavarotti 3. Alfredo Kraus 4. Jussi Bjorling 5. Juan Diego Florez 6. Giuseppe Di Stefano 7. Carlo Bergonzi 8a. Roberto Alagna 8b. Frank Lopardo 9. Nicolai Gedda 10. Jussi Bjorling 11. Cezar Vezzan
1. Corelli , 2. Pavarotti (who could possibly not recognize!) I dont recognize the others, I Listen only to the real Maestro. =)

Giuseppe di Stefano is the first i've ever heard to do a diminuendo on a high c. what a beauty!!

No.2!
