  • WONDERFUL

Felicidades y Adelante!!

  • arriva mexico and spain

  • The sound of the drums is to strong for the song " El Cascabel " It restricts the rhythm of the music by slowing it down . The music to began has a fast rhythm and a slow down of its own. The Drums also takes away the wild untame of the rhythm that has alegrea, bravia and sentimiento. Other than that i's all right.

  • bring tears to my eyes is like adrenaline shot

  • Greatest song ever!! el Cascabel!!!!! maravillosos!!

  • ¡Ay! Como rezumba y suena,

    ¡Ay! Como rezumba y suena,

    rezumba y va rezumbando,

    rezumba y va rezumbando

    mi cascabel en la arena.

  • vihuela biien saludos

  • I think this is a great version of this song, but I was just wondering -- does Luz de Luna have a second trumpet player?

  • ¡¡¡¡VIVA MÉXICO!!!!!!!

  • This song was sent into deep space with the Golden disc in the Voyager 1

  • nice!! good job!! i still think Mariachi Vargas de tecatlitlan plays it the best version of all!!

  • i have this song for my mariachi class

  • Rhythm and Police!

  • Hey guys! I am the guitarron (bass) for Mariachi Luz de Luna. I want to say thank you to all of you who appreciate our music as well as our collaboration with Calexico.

  • One has to be tone deaf not to enjoy music like that!!!!

  • ole a este video mas wapo..

  • This Is Music !!!

  • No matter how you look at it these gentlemen are amazing musicians! NUFF SAID!!!

  • Great adaptation of a great song.

  • The dark skin Trumpet player was my teacher in a mariachi group. The Vihuela play was the learder of the group

  • Thanks for sharing

  • Excellante!.....gracias..... : )

  • This is hybridization at its best!

Not only do I LOVE this tune, it is one of the coolest songs ever created as it is meant to be sung as is, but also to be continued with the addition of improvised verses as the singer sees fit. Naturally, this depends on the talent of whoever is singing.

The mariachi is obviously Mexican. Calexico, the band, is very much from Tucson, Arizona, USA (thank you very much!) and together they reach a level of hybridity that makes my little heart soar!

  • Esta padrisimo, mariachis can play be the most happy uplifting music or the most melancholic and heal the broken hearts. The guy who sings the falsete at the end is british, right? very good!!!

  • /watch?v=WbYAtl5flYk&feature=related

  • is there some record about this?

i try ti find in calexico discography without success, can you help me!

  • This video is on my favorites! It is so awesome to watch. My husband is a music teacher at an elementary school in Houston. He teaches piano, guitar and what was a Rondalla once has slowly been transforming into a Mariachi upon principal's request. He was inspired by your viedo and just started teaching Cascabel to his students. They are pretty good. Congrats, everyone in it plays incredibly great!

  • @doloresvb1 I'm glad to know that these great musicians have inspired other fellow musicians. thanks

  • @doloresvb1 I am in a Mexican folk dancing group at the UCSC campus and I must say if you are interested you should look to see if you can teach them some of the steps- its one of the most amazing songs to dance and dancing is one of the best ways to empower students!

  • I enjoy this video so much that I replay it every few days. Thanks for posting it, rdrik.

  • i love this so much

  • This is sacrilege! Total sacrilege! Playing traditional songs in a non-traditional way! Why can't they leave these songs alone, in the museum?

    (Or the mausoleum?)

  • @sternumagnum

the only sacrilege is the fact that you don't get it

  • @val91201 Not one but two words (museum, mausoleum) to tip off the reader about the sarcasm --and you didn't get it?? Dios mio...

  • Amazing performance. Thanks RDRIK.

  • i LOVE it when they add a sort of modern form to the traditional mariachi..!! jaja cascabel is such an awesome song to play with alot of different rithoms...me encanta el mariachi y esta cansion es unas de mis favoritas jaja

  • Los Caballeros are very good mariachi band.We in Croatia are proud that we have such a good band(one of band's member is Mexican).

I also like Mariachi Luz de Luna...Nice combination -calexico&mariachi

  • I agree Sojoz4 this guys have no pride when they play . I saw the ones Los caballeros from croatia they are even better than some mariachis from mexico.

  • sojoz4 is one of those mexicans that like to talk bad things about his country...

    wonderfull video, song and mariachi

  • @sojoz4: Try to understand what types of groups are playing here --- a mariachi band and an English band. They do a marvelous job of melding the two groups. Especially when one considers the audience is British. I really enjoyed it.

  • @Lenchito, however the Brits may skew from parts of the USA politically, they've always been receptive to great music from the Americas. The jazz and blues pioneers of the 50's and 60's found friendship and support there, many great British musicians took the blues back to White America over the following decades and much of the music from the central and southern Americas are equally well regarded today. This is a good example of all that.

  • Good reply, silvi01977. I agree totally.

  • sojoz4 usted es un ignorante!!! Calexico is an American band from Arizona, with several members that are from Europe (brass players)!

  • @dkgazinya If you really want to see a real Mariachi play Cascabel out side of Mexico from Europe take a look at this guys from the country of Croatia - " Los Caballeros"- cascabel." That will tell you why I like a good Mariachi and don't care where they are from as long as they have repect for the song and play it the way it should.

  • una cancion exelente de maravilla!!!!!

  • can some body send me the guitar solo for cascabel?

  • fantastique fabuleux !!!

  • This is a great melding of the two groups. It looks like the British audience likes them too. Nice job!

  • thats bad ass

  • I loved the fist bump. Glad to know our Mariachi isn't the only to fist bump. xD

  • A god experience...

  • these guys are good!

  • That's all Greek to me!

  • They play well.. But MARACAS and DRUMS??? WHAT?? this is are not traditional instruments for any Mariachi..

  • read CAREFULLY the description...

    k thx

  • THESE are not just ANY Mariachi! ;)

  • You may be a hottie but you don't know the group Calexico, do a little research and you'll discover some amazing artists.

  • @hollywoodhottie19

The Word Cascabel is Rattler like a Maracas, that might be why they are using Maracas as it sounds like what the song is referring to.

  • I was at this show!

  • This is just Awesome. Sang so perfectly. All the musicians are so disciplined and perfectionist. Great performance

  • GREAT !

  • Pura calidad.

  • the lady musician in the background is capable of stealing the show. she is a fantastic singer.

  • her name is lulu olivares. she's fantastic.

  • tks. i'm off to google lulu.

  • natural high...

  • the guy who sings is my mariachi teacher

  • Where???

  • it's in az

  • Viva mariachi.....

  • It's a great performance!! wow!!! i love it!!!

  • I love the Mariachi sound. It's good for the blood. It gives me chills.

I became familiar with Calexico quite a few years ago. Saw them play in Philadelphia. Marrying Calexico and top-shelf Mariachi was bound to happen. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • @mdh1961 The best Stuff of the universe.

  • Interesting! I recognized some familiar faces from Mariachi Luz de Luna.

El Cascabel is not a traditional "mariachi" song. It has been adapted with many different arrangements to pretty much being a mariachi standard. It is originally a "son jarocho" from the state of Veracruz.

  • that's even more interesting.

    thanks. :)
