  • Thank you Rinpoche.... I really needed to hear this right now. May I offer the victory to others, may I treasure my enemy as a precious treasure, may I see my enemy as my supreme teacher. How fortunate I am to have my enemy in my life to give me the opportunity to practice in a real situation.

May I see my enemy as the provider of all my virtues.

  • The eight verses contains all the 84000 teachings of the Buddha that opposes the 84000 afflictive emotions. The first seven verses deal with method and the last verse is the wisdom teaching. Just practicing this can lead to enlightenment.

  • Having said that we must repay the kindness of mother sentient beings the best way to benefit them is for us to be a full enlightened being who will have much methods and capacity to help mother sentient beings long term and also short term.

  • Within Mahayana Buddhism , the first step to developing bodhicitta is to view all sentient beings has been our mother, due to us having innumerable lifetimes. It will be not filial for us to let mother sentient beings suffer.

  • How can we not respect the very objects ( sentient beings ) that are pushing us towards enlightenment . As it is through sentient beings that enable us to do dharma practice. Even if we do not like one person shows us that we do not have the quality to be enlightened. That puts things into perspective.

  • Attachment or Aversion is due to our unrealistic projection on what or how things should be.

  • The very flesh that we have to do dharma practice comes from our mothers. That is something to reflect on. Hence mothers are very very kind. We can never repay the kindness of our mothers.

  • Its actually our projection that causes us to suffer not the situation or the person, we project on to others and others project on to us. People should be like this or like that. We should accept people for what they are.

  • During the course of the talk Rinpoche mentioned this very meaningful phrase Your enemy is your provider of all your virtues.

  • The way Rinpoche describes the kindness of a mother and how much the mother would go through to bring life for us, and it is very moving, and makes me appreciate my mother even more .

  • If we accept others for who they are and not project on to others then we will definitely not suffer. Thats very useful.

  • We can purify our karma by practising Dharma, such as serving our Guru, do prayers, transform ourselves, and this is where the 8 verses is coming in, we should practise it daily.......

  • Agree with you peter, I believe in Cause & Effect, whatever that happen to us, is due to our Karma, therefore practise happy mind really help to calm us down.....

  • We should always have a calm and happy mind, no matter who has mistreat or abuse us. Especially our Guru, we should give our high respect to him, as he taught us dharma and give us knowledge here........

  • wrong projections...secret expectations...wow I'm learning so much from the buddhism and from his perfect vessel.

  • Well, it does mentioned in some of the text, those who we perceived difficulty, we will treat it as our teacher, this is a very good way to train up your patient and also your mind, it really helps the way we see things and also the things we attached.....

  • A mindblowing (transformin) profound teaching on one of the greatest mahayana topics.

    Thank you all for uploading!

  • When others, out of jealousy, treat me badly, With abuse, slander and so on, I will learn to take all loss, And offer the victory to them.......This is a good practise and train up our mindset to take the loss from others.....Boddhicitta.

  • Rinpoche is brilliant, using simple examples like the yellow hat to help us understand. The stimulus is exactly the same but our perception changes what it means to us. Therefore nothing has inherent qualities until we project them onto the objectso I need to remember this when someone shouts at me, that I can understand it in two ways they are attacking me, or it's just air vibrations falling on my ears, and whatever happens next is dependent on how I CHOOSE to deal with those sounds.

  • Wow how different Rinpoche looks ten years ago. But he sounds exactly the same, his manners are exactly the same...and more significantly, his teachings and motivation are exactly the same.

May we be as unchanging and steadfast in our practice as Rinpoche.

  • if we respect the person who taught us the dharma and assist and show great respect and care for this person, the Dharma will go in faster and quicker as we appreciate it more than before. Therefore, a very important practice in Tibetan Buddhism is to have supreme respect for the teacher. neomlama(dot)com

  • if you dont put projections on others, you will not be dissapointed because there is nothing really to dissapoint in the first place when you no longer put your projections on people.

  • i think maybe i project a lot, on people. i felt that people disappointed me a lot in the past. but i disappoint a lot of people too. i think my mom must be very disappointed in me.

  • people who seemingly hate us are actually one of the most important people which shows us what we need to improve on in order to be perfect.

  • Can one person be perfect?

  • Thank You Rincophe !!!
