Cool video.I miss the old cabovers. They seem to be a thing of the past. One sees very few C.O.E's here in No Cal anymore. Is that a Pete with the sleeper over the cab at 1:43?
My dad was a trucker between the 40s-70s and he recognized a lot of those trucks!
I'm actually looking for any International or Reo or GMC from 1953-1966 that has "Miss Doe" I-VII decaled on front hood. These were my dads trucks. Im searching for these to buy and give my dad as a gift.
Any word or pictures would be helpful-we live in the midwest.
ah the older years....when trucks (like cars and pickups) had STYLE! now every semi truck looks like every other just about...likewise for the other atrocities that drive the roads :(
0:27-0:30....old 1950's KW C.B.E. ....the true epitome of a bean-counter's truck. My understanding is that some Rocky Mtn.-based companies requested these, for maximum visibility and minimum weight. Drivers HATED them, companies couldn't get rid of the damn things due to noone wanting them..not too many of them left.
I have seen all of these trucks b4 except the one @ 0:39 ... My dad drives a truck & has been since these days but he can't remember what make that truck is... Can any1 help me with this ?
Rocket in my pocket (bi-phetamine 20's). And a rollin machine. Hell yeh........the good old days. I drove for Monfort in the 70's. Trucks would run 100mph. Co.got kicked off Pa turnpike,, Oh turnpike, quite a bunch we had there. That was before the business got infected from truck driving schools letting every piece of crap that had money in their pocket into this business. Now its overrun with morons and homo's
WAY COOL!!!! 16,668 views and only 40 ratings?! tubers, it's not that hard to give a five star rating for stuff like this that you know is cool. thanx DIESELFUMESS
My Daddy was an outstanding mechanic, who massaged 450hp, to the ground, from an "Old Style 335 Cummins", mated to an "Double Overdrive, Air Shift 4X4" driving 3:90 rearends.
@heatherrose2006 ..the old small cam 335 was a rocket ready to explode..it had a short life span..rarely did one make it over 100.000 miles in the rockies....thay ran good when they ran but were a maintenance nightmare..were hard on rod bearings and head gaskets...Cummins was pushing hard to get them out of their system..
I don't know what the model is but I do know that it is a '50's International Cab Over with an aftermarket sleeper box. It appears to be a farely recent picture.
1:04 and 1:20 "Monfort of Colorado" legendary purported triple digit hammer lane (the Monfort lane) cruisers before the term "Rooster Cruisers" was ever thought of. Legend had it that they were banned is several states due to numerous "extreme" speeding convictions.
love the old truck pictures i am an over the truck driver now and its all thanks to those drivers why we have the nice equipment we do today dont crush them restore the old semis
It is the same type, if not the same truck @ :38 without the cargo body. It is a cabover Peterbuilt dromedary truck/tractor-trailer with the sleeper over the cab. I don't know the model year for sure but I believe it is late '50's to early '60's.
At 1:06, that's Munfort out of Colorado. Those boys were the orignal outlaws. Ask someone who's been around long enough and they will tell some stories about them boys. They didn't call the hammer the Munfort lane for nothing. Custom ordered KW's out of Denver with the biggest Cats availble and 4 fuel tanks. They loaded beef out of there own plant and went straight to the East coast non-stop.
Awesome pics! I've always loved old trucks. It's too bad most of the vintage trucks are no longer driving. Always put by the way side in favour of newer, more modern trucks.
Great, great, great! Love this era of trucks. I will have to watch this a few more times and pause it to check out each truck in detail. It is neat to see what drivers did to customize their rigs back then.

:28 is a Kenworth CBE (Cab Beside Engine)
heatherrose2006 2 years ago
The company got banned from several states? I didn't know they could ban you lol! Can those old trucks really break 100?
024reredrum 2 years ago
Like I said that is what the legend was in the '70's.
Several of my Daddy's were triple digit road tractors, from the early '70's to the late '80's
