NASA promises to repeat Apollo 8 for $38 billion, while the country is going bankrupt. As Elliot Swann would say, "I'm too beat up, I'll only slow you down. It's up to you now." (Doom 3 twenty-first stage.)
@todd987 2-4% isn't that much when you look at common cancer causes. Smocking increses the odds of you get cancer much more than 2-4%. So going in spce is safer than smocking for not getting cancer.
In present we try different vehicles in every medium(submarine, ships, motor cars, trains, airplanes and rockets), and they don't express an optimum garantee neiter for present nor for future. I follow of 50 years the realization of the russians and americans the penetration of the man in cosmos, but the realised progress is not good and sure, but very expensive, very heavy and dangerous.
we do not profit yet from colonization. because we still use chemical rockets whom are just extremely expensive to build. And therefore weve only orbited the earth so far. Once better rockets are invented, then well talk about transport.
at this moment, that just isnt done. its possible, but you waste great amount of money,
spanish pleass!!!!!!!!!! español y tambien tenemos derecho!!!!!!!!! nuestro gobierno tambien apoya a la ESA. pues poden tambien en nuestro idiomaaaaaaaaaaaa por favor
So? You would have wanted us to spend these billions of dollars on something as pointless as landing a man on the moon or mars, just to prove that we can do it? Its not as if we haven't all benefited from these investments.
No , by now we could have established a base on the moon, allowing us to mine the vast resources in metals and other minerals..We also need to be there before we can get to mars or build a space colony. The materials will come from the moon, much cheaper to transport materials from the moon than from the earth.
The moon is a vital step in exploring and colonizing the solar system..yet we haven't done jack shit in 40 years. We continue orbiting the earth like idiots.
love the work here

Space is still very dangerous place with radiation. Crews aboard the space station receive an average of 80 mSv
for a six-month stay at solar maximum (the time period with the
maximum number of sunspots and a maximum solar magnetic
field to deflect the particles) and an average of 160 mSv for a
six-month stay at solar minimum.
400 mSv - At this level the chances of contacting sertain deadly cancers is increased by 2-4%

The Governments should put more money into space travel than into war machines.

Nasa, Esa, Jaxa, idk the chinese one, and whoever is also pushing into space: job well done xD
Kind of a shame that we still arent making bases on the moon, and what's more, the ISS going out of service soon =/
we r actually pulling out of space now =( what a shame

After 40 years and billions of dollars, we've gone from low earth orbit (300km) to low earth orbit.
