To all WarCraft RTS fans: Do not be discouraged by the success of WoW that has many of us think has seemingly sold out the series for good. Blizzard has made it very clear in interviews, conventions, and invitationals that they plan on working on WarCraft IV, and that they know they can only squeeze so much milk from their MMO. It has been confirmed they are working on another non MMO title, and it very well could be WC4.

In the meantime, we must help ourselves to some StarCraft II!

This is my favourite track (track 15) from all the warcraft 2 tracks on the original cd. Personally I still regard Warcraft 2 music as the best 'computer game music' ever. Remember that this game was awarded 'game of the year' when it came out back in the mid 90s! I listen to the Warcraft 2 cd everyday when I drive off to work and back home. Guess I'm addicted to it :) Warcraft 2 gameplay was much better than Warcraft 3 .. and we used to play it on a simple 486 !

We already have got the strategic Warcraft 2, we need something else in the remake. We need a sandbox, yeah! a Warcraft 2 2d multiplayer (or MMO) RPG, where you are free to act and move in the world. Constructed upon the original Warcraft, where there are no purple elves and trolls are not frog halved. With enhanced versions of the original low resolution models of Warcraft 2... this will be ground breaking! But we need someone to do it.. :P

But I yet did not learn how to use any software (like Photoshop or Flash) nor I have used my skills in any serious and team-work based projects before. If there is someone to command such a project, I may participate and learn.

Theoretically, making our own resources (models, sound, programming) for our project requires no copyrights, but what if we are almost just copying them from elsewere with slight changes?! err, the reason you're only finding midi versions is because the original game used midis. Dig around the CD or the install folder, and you'll probably find them.

If you have the warcraft 2 cds all you have to do is go into windows media player with the CD in. And you can rip the music from the cds using wmp.
