  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! - Fancy sending some of the men to England to sing in our choirs? haha! - I can hear a man singing the Melody in a falsetto voice hahah! I give him the uttermost praise! ;) - I love counter tenor/alto singers! :D

  • very pretty! Why is everyone facing the wrong way?

  • @kensingtonpalace Well, it's an organ concert, not a church service.

  • @octavebasse8 Oh i see, i thot it was regular church :)

  • The congregation/audience was full of organists/choir directors etc. that why they sounded so good I'm sure. At least they were singing and singing out loud unlike those in a Catholic church that I'll leave nameless where they all stand like deaf/mutes then whine about the organ being 'loud'!

  • It's probably a lot of Christians hymns, ... ..it's an Anthem in some churches!!

  • What kind of organ is this? Seems like a sweet (little) instrument!

  • Please re-record the Prelude on Holy Holy Holy by Joyce Jones. It was the first thing I saw you play on Youtube and I liked the piece enough to buy the book and learn it.

  • Hahahaha I like the annotation! lol.

  • I thought you might.

  • The guy at the camera is not that great at Singing =P

  • That's why he plays the organ, and doesn't sing.

  • @octavebasse8 perhaps you might try singing the tenor line instead of the bass, my other suggestion is just sing more, the more you do it, the better you'll get.

  • At least you didn't have to hear me on the National Anthem!

  • They certainly sing! Leading congregational singing is always a challenge and they do tend to sing a beat behind, given the chance. I'm not a big fan of tunes by J.B.Dykes but this is probably his finest (or perhaps least dreadful) hymn tune.

  • `That was just hymn playing, some excitement would be nice, a little improv, pull some stops. And, sometimes the cantor is behind the playing because of the vastness of some churches. You have to know how to play around that, then the reverb wil decrease!

  • Well, I don't think theres a whole lot you can do with less than 10 ranks, that haven't been played in 18 years.

  • @jmmles1 He's right, this is a very small organ (I do mean Very small) Micah (the organist playing here) did fantastic for being thrown into this sort of last minute. there really wasn't anywhere to go with this organ sonically.

  • I love it! It's so nice to hear harmony when I'm playing. My churches (Presbyterian) aren't as vocal as this, so it sometimes helps to modulate up to E flat and do my own thing on the last verse, which can help wake some people up. Then the sopranos sing the descant, and anyone else who can sing parts will chime in. We do have one "Kill" and 2 "stun" voices. Thanks for posting this. This is one of my favorite hymns.

  • WOW! I wish my congregation sang like that! They're ALWAYS 1 or 2 beats behind me and the cantor. I'll assume this was a Catholic church because of the altar and the huge crucifix. I'm also curious as to what kind of organ this is, pipe, digital, or combination. If that was you playing, bravo!

  • 1-2 BEATS?!?!?!

It's got to be hard to lead that congregation!!!!

  • Yeah. I blame it on a poor speaker system for the organ. Intstead of buying new speakers when they bought the Allen, instead they used the 25 year old speakers from the old Conn. It takes 3-4 seconds for the sound to get from the console to the speakers. I acutally managed to convince them to get the right speakers by blowing out the old bass speakers by playing an open 5th in the Pedal with the expression shoes all the way up and the 32' on. Maybe it will improve with the new speakers next Sun.

  • Did it improve?

  • The sound inproved greatly. My latest videos, For All the Saints, Now Thank We All Our God, etc. were all done with the new speakers in place. The difference is dramatic and much better.

  • The OHS convention attendees have always been known to be lusty singers. It is a long-standing tradition that they sing a hymn at all of their church venues. It's quite a thrill to play for such a group. I also attended an AIO convention in San Antonio, TX a few years back, and to hear 4-part (mostly) male harmony is yet another thrill. It's also a thrill to hear an AGO group sing, too.

  • There are three volumes for their singing:

    1. Forte

    2. Stun

    3. Kill

  • LOL! Not just forte, fortisisisimo (FFF)! Was that you playing?
