If we take a look to the history of Kerkuk and bring the facts to the front then you can conlude that Kerkuk was a city that was build by the Hurrians. The Kurds are the grandchildren of the Hurrians. But this issue is not about the etnicity but about the oil. If the Kurds say Kerkuk is Kurdish then nobody can disagree with, because this is true. If the Turkmens say Kerkuk is Turkmen then they are wrong. They might live in Kerkuk but Turkmenistan is Turkmen. Kerkuk is a city for everybody.
