Nahhhh i think its what this guy bellow is saying; it's metaphorical. XD

It's metaphorical. He's sunk down so far that he can no longer get out. He's using sinking in the ocean as a metaphor for sinking into depression or sadness and not being able to feel the warmth of the sun (happiness) and now he's lost hope so he's determined to just sink down into numbness and forget...

At least that's the way I've interrpreted it. It's possible for it to have other meanings...
