I remember when I saw the video I thought what an awesome guitar sound...maan!! great song as well ..ended up buying the song in I Tunes...one my all time fav songs
@tomcamp6023 i'm way too old for bieber. just brought that no talent punk up as a joke. best convert i went to was the g&r/metallica/judas priest concert in kansas city. could hear for 3 days afterwards, but oh so worth it. used to have brother cane on a custom mix cassette back in the day.
@AnnRKey That'd be Topper Price. He died 15 May 2007.
On Myspace, Damon wrote "He was 54 years old. He played the outer-worldly, one-of-a-kind, un-fucking-believable harmonica on Brother Cane's first single, "Got No Shame". As far as I'm concerned, Topper's performance launched the band's career. There is the real chance that the band would have NEVER had a career at radio without him. I was a big fan of Topper's before working with him and was blown away to have him play on our record."
I remember getting baked while listening to this song while playing GTA4 one time. I was driving really fast and I hit a huge ramp just as the last solo started. Everything went all slow-mo and it was insane.
i remember this song when i 1st saw it on mtv like allot of others when it first came out..this is one kickas* song that i have always liked...ROCK ON BROTHER CANE!!!
As soon as you finish Illearth War, listen to this song again and see if you don't think this is the theme song.. The imagery is very close, almost like someone was reading it when writing this song.
This song is far from anything that came out of the grunge era. They don't make songs like this anymore. Pearl Jam has not put out anything that compares to this, but they did have a lot more hits.
Chiboy00 , Where do you get grunge from this sound? You have no clue... These guys are a straight up real rock band,,, Guns and Roses wish they wrote anything this good...
Topper was one heck of a harp player. Im trying to pick up this song in the harp but havin problem with the key - none of mine seem to work - bent or otherwise. Any one know?
Eddie vedder wishes he had a voice like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS STRAIGHT AHEAD ROCK-N-ROLL fuck grunge. I hated it when it came out and still do.
I actually like this band...but they definitely were running on the grunge bandwagon for sure. It's a shame cuz I read in a Guitar World mag where the singer was ripping on Eddie Vedder...which is so sad cuz this band totally copied the Seattle sound! Still dig some of their songs though....
The harp player was Topper Price who was originally from Locust Fork, Alabama. He along with his band the Upsetters were a staple of the Birmingham, Alabama music scene for years.
Unfortunately we lost Topper in May 2007, at the age of 54.
Partied w/the backstage at Pine Knob by Detroit............ They opened for Ted Nugent( WHO WAS A DICK!) ~ and reguardless of anyones opinion of my actions.. I had a blast with Roman & Damon at a hotel w/girlfriend after the show..( they know music and sex like crazy!) LOL I'll never forget it..and this reminds me soo much ! <3 Killer Memory!! DANKE!
If you like true blues-influenced-rock-n-roll music and are looking for a great new band in that genre. Check out "The Steepwater Band" from Chicago, IL. They are raw, gritty and unpolished, yet musically and artistically refined and talented. They have classic blues (like Robert Johnson and Son House) and rock (like Hendrix and Jeff Beck) just to name a few of their influences. Still, they don't play nostalgia. They are completely original.
I'm trying to figure out if this album (their first which I really love) or their next 2 records ("Seeds" and 1 more after that) was the real Brother Cane sound. Seeds sounded like a post-grunge sellout to me. No wonder Glen Maxey left the band after this album. BC totally dumped their musical/ artistic style and idiom. Almost like they had a musical-style-lobotomy after this album. What a tragedy when record companys influence artists, rather than vice-versa. Bring back the original BC!
i saw these guys open for van halen a long while back. they freakin kicked ass and even covered synchroncity 2 by the police at that show i remember. was amazing! damon johnson is a badass mofo.
Brother Cane was the opening act for a bill including the Brian Howe-fronted version of Bad Company (Howe produces Hinder now) while the featured act this night, June 20, 1993, was Lynyrd Skynyrd supporting the underrated album The Last Rebel. The show was at the Gulf Coast Coliseum in Gulfport/Biloxi, MS.
I saw the same show in Portland, Oregon in August of that year.I had never heard Brother Cane before that night, but you can damn well bet I never forgot them after seeing them. They did a cover of Whipping Post by the Allmans that night and ripped ass.I wish they were still around.Great band.
I was fortunate to see them live once before they disbanded. I saw them on the final tour and it was one hell of a show. I have all their cd's and love everything they did. Even got to meet them that night and get autographs on a poster, what a great band, sadly missed for sure.
hey if you guys like brother cane and their wishpool album just click my name and watch my video about brother cane i have an autographed wishpool album that im goin to sell
When did these guys first emerge? Anyway, I love this band. Unfortunately, I wasn't introduced to them until, like, three years ago, but they have been one of my favorites since then. This and Hard Act to Follow are their best songs, I think.
You should checkout Damon and Roman with Queensryche members Rockenfield and Gray on 2002's Slave To The System. Another Cd to cruise around and rockout. Heavier alternative rock for those interested. Very good cd.
