  • Good times w this song. I miss the 90s

  • I remember when I saw the video I thought what an awesome guitar sound...maan!! great song as well ..ended up buying the song in I Tunes...one my all time fav songs

  • I know the drummer, marched in a class 1 drum and bugle corps with him. Spirit of Atlanta in 1984. Superb player.

  • Damn this band is/was will always be fantastic!

  • Rompin' Rock and Roll....Yeah..

  • The cowbell is epic.... Where are cowbells these days?!?

  • Damn. I have not heard this song in years. I saw Brother Cane in concert. At a small club. Around 1996 or so.

  • this song always makes me feeel confident and untouchable. i aint got no shame

  • heard and still heard again stuff...I'm so tired! Wanna something fucking new...

  • no harmonica player in the video...the shame

  • These guys were one of the all-time best hard rock bands! Damon Johnson is one the the greatest singer/songwriter/guitarists ever...

  • seen these guys twice in louisville back in the day

  • So friggin talented. Should have been huge.

  • @tomcamp6023 yeah i agree, this was REAL music, not justin beiber crap

  • Comment removed

  • @tomcamp6023 i'm way too old for bieber. just brought that no talent punk up as a joke. best convert i went to was the g&r/metallica/judas priest concert in kansas city. could hear for 3 days afterwards, but oh so worth it. used to have brother cane on a custom mix cassette back in the day.

  • Caught BC on their Seeds tour back in the day. One of the best live groups ever.

  • this is NOT heavy metal. this is blues and rock and roll.

  • definitely had enough cow bell in the beginning

  • @noncommittalcitizen there's never enough cowbell!

  • @pcm61774 Well, this certainly is a good effort!

  • Who's playing harmonica?

  • @AnnRKey That'd be Topper Price. He died 15 May 2007.

On Myspace, Damon wrote "He was 54 years old. He played the outer-worldly, one-of-a-kind, un-fucking-believable harmonica on Brother Cane's first single, "Got No Shame". As far as I'm concerned, Topper's performance launched the band's career. There is the real chance that the band would have NEVER had a career at radio without him. I was a big fan of Topper's before working with him and was blown away to have him play on our record."

  • @tybo09 Thanks. Sad. Too bad he wasn't in the video. The harmonica does kick ass.

  • i got to meet damon johnson this summer and see him play this song, really interesting guy and a killer guitar player

  • Wow this reminds me so much of StoneRider

  • I remember getting baked while listening to this song while playing GTA4 one time. I was driving really fast and I hit a huge ramp just as the last solo started. Everything went all slow-mo and it was insane.

  • @jice12 What channel was it on?

  • i don't care who you are, that's an ass-kickin' tune, right there! Remember the first time I heard it years ago and it still sounds just as good.

  • This song is badass, perfect hillbilly raisin he'll drivin song. At least that's what me and my buddies use it for haha

  • i remember this song when i 1st saw it on mtv like allot of others when it first came out..this is one kickas* song that i have always liked...ROCK ON BROTHER CANE!!!

  • Good song, too bad there isn't more like it.

  • Do this:

    Read or re-read:

    Lord Foul's Bane.

    The Illearth War.

As soon as you finish Illearth War, listen to this song again and see if you don't think this is the theme song.. The imagery is very close, almost like someone was reading it when writing this song.

  • What an awesome band..I miss this kind of music...just real straight up ROCK AND ROLL BABY!!

  • Bad ass!!!! This reminds me when I used to sang that food at Chili's.......

  • Headbangers ball... LOL, I miss when MTV actually played music...

  • @tybo09 I also miss the early 90s

  • Bad Ass!

  • Part of this video was filmed at Sloss Fur. if I am right?

  • I believe you are right, Sloss is now a Haunted House in October am I right? Peace from Muscle Shoals Alabama

  • copied the Seattle sound...Not!!! so much better true musicians...

  • song's in Abm... don't know why the harmonica would be different.

  • @Karensvideos He's playing cross-harp. It's probably a Db harmonica.

  • @Karensvideos alot of harpgoes a 1/3 step down. don't ask me why but it makes it fit

  • This song is far from anything that came out of the grunge era. They don't make songs like this anymore. Pearl Jam has not put out anything that compares to this, but they did have a lot more hits.

  • Brother Cane rules! Saw them live around 94'. Pure, in your face rock! REAL musicians who kick ass in the studio or on stage!

  • Chiboy00 , Where do you get grunge from this sound? You have no clue... These guys are a straight up real rock band,,, Guns and Roses wish they wrote anything this good...

  • Maybe closer to an F or Fm?

  • I would really like to learn the Harp lick, what key is this in - Am?

  • Topper was one heck of a harp player. Im trying to pick up this song in the harp but havin problem with the key - none of mine seem to work - bent or otherwise. Any one know?

  • Eddie vedder wishes he had a voice like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS STRAIGHT AHEAD ROCK-N-ROLL fuck grunge. I hated it when it came out and still do.

  • I actually like this band...but they definitely were running on the grunge bandwagon for sure. It's a shame cuz I read in a Guitar World mag where the singer was ripping on Eddie Vedder...which is so sad cuz this band totally copied the Seattle sound! Still dig some of their songs though....

  • (LLLLLL)

  • The harp player was Topper Price who was originally from Locust Fork, Alabama. He along with his band the Upsetters were a staple of the Birmingham, Alabama music scene for years.

Unfortunately we lost Topper in May 2007, at the age of 54.

  • where's the harp player? Must not be cool to put one amongst all the hair and Marshall stacks

  • I always loved this song man.

  • Seen them twice. Man theey are good.

  • que buena cancion, me hizo recordar mis epocas de colegio en el 93', temazoOoOoOoO...¡¡¡

  • GIMME 'MO COWBELL!!!!! great!!!!

  • I miss the countdown to the ball.. was the fucking best

  • Don't know why these guys didn't make it bigger than they did... great blues-rock.

  • I still have this album from the 90's.They really rocked back then.

  • the comment i have entered is too short i will construct another comment to please all those who didnt like my earlier comment which was "."

  • Damon Johnson, a tru rocker, and a nice guy.

  • Partied w/the backstage at Pine Knob by Detroit............ They opened for Ted Nugent( WHO WAS A DICK!) ~ and reguardless of anyones opinion of my actions.. I had a blast with Roman & Damon at a hotel w/girlfriend after the show..( they know music and sex like crazy!) LOL I'll never forget it..and this reminds me soo much ! <3 Killer Memory!! DANKE!

  • If you like true blues-influenced-rock-n-roll music and are looking for a great new band in that genre. Check out "The Steepwater Band" from Chicago, IL. They are raw, gritty and unpolished, yet musically and artistically refined and talented. They have classic blues (like Robert Johnson and Son House) and rock (like Hendrix and Jeff Beck) just to name a few of their influences. Still, they don't play nostalgia. They are completely original.

  • I'm trying to figure out if this album (their first which I really love) or their next 2 records ("Seeds" and 1 more after that) was the real Brother Cane sound. Seeds sounded like a post-grunge sellout to me. No wonder Glen Maxey left the band after this album. BC totally dumped their musical/ artistic style and idiom. Almost like they had a musical-style-lobotomy after this album. What a tragedy when record companys influence artists, rather than vice-versa. Bring back the original BC!

  • i saw these guys open for van halen a long while back. they freakin kicked ass and even covered synchroncity 2 by the police at that show i remember. was amazing! damon johnson is a badass mofo.

  • seen this show in 93' @ the Mirage in Minneapolis MN.

  • These guys rock. I was with them when they recorded this in atlanta, of course i was a wee lad.but they were great guys, with great music.

It inspired me to play as well.

  • an amazing tune. love this track.

  • does anyone know what scott is up to (drums)

  • Comment removed

  • FUCK YA!!!

  • Hometown boys. Hell yeah.

  • I forgot how good these guys were.

  • Brother Cane was the opening act for a bill including the Brian Howe-fronted version of Bad Company (Howe produces Hinder now) while the featured act this night, June 20, 1993, was Lynyrd Skynyrd supporting the underrated album The Last Rebel. The show was at the Gulf Coast Coliseum in Gulfport/Biloxi, MS.

That week, this song was #1 on the Rock chart.

    Good times.

  • I saw the same show in Portland, Oregon in August of that year.I had never heard Brother Cane before that night, but you can damn well bet I never forgot them after seeing them. They did a cover of Whipping Post by the Allmans that night and ripped ass.I wish they were still around.Great band.

  • FINALLY I have been lookin for a video of this for EVER!

    =D

  • the first album was damon-lead| roman-rythm| glenn maxey- bass| and scott- drums

how do i know this? my dad is the bassist

  • Can you ask your dad one thing then...why Topper was not in the video?

  • I was fortunate to see them live once before they disbanded. I saw them on the final tour and it was one hell of a show. I have all their cd's and love everything they did. Even got to meet them that night and get autographs on a poster, what a great band, sadly missed for sure.

  • Thank you for the demo TAPE, Roman. I still love it!! (Yeah, I am old...lol.)

  • When did these guys first emerge? Anyway, I love this band. Unfortunately, I wasn't introduced to them until, like, three years ago, but they have been one of my favorites since then. This and Hard Act to Follow are their best songs, I think.

  • Who is the drummer?

  • Roman Glick if I remember correctly...

  • nope... I got that wrong lol...

  • The harmonica that could wake the dead..RIP Topper

  • i love this song because it's my opinion too...

  • Could use some more cow bell.

  • yeah more cow bell.....

  • You should checkout Damon and Roman with Queensryche members Rockenfield and Gray on 2002's Slave To The System. Another Cd to cruise around and rockout. Heavier alternative rock for those interested. Very good cd.

  • Whatever happened to the dvd these guys have been working on since 2005? I would sure like to see some of that live footage.

  • Gym used to crank this album - we all loved it- amazing album- every tune - thumbs up- sure do miss these guys.

  • Too many people dont respect good guitar bands anymore, these guys were great! Long live these guys, and Tesla, etc...good ole rock n roll

  • 2 years ago, i requested this song on the radio, sinse then, dozens of people requested, and now they play it all the time.....cant say this aint the shit...this song to me just represents the mood your in on say like a friday night and you got a date, lol..

  • this song is best when played LOUD and driving fast.

i still think seeds is their alltime best.

  • Still one of my fave bands EVER!!!!

  • thanks for posting this one! Miss these guys!
