You know, even though I like this movie, I'm not huge on it. I like it though. I love the look, the strangely peaceful and relaxing soundtrack, the mysterious Rick Deckard played by none other than Harrison Ford. I like it, but I'm not a huge fan. However, I love the major aspects about it. Maybe when I read the book I'll have even more appreciation for it.
After weeks of listening to the soundtrack of this song, my teacher just told me that we were going to be watching this movie in class as a supplement to "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"
One thing that excites me so much about this film is how closely soundtrack and film relates to each other. Both film and Vangelis' soundtrack make a some sort of resonance and the entire "noir" world emerges in your head. The beauty and depth of this film is highly underrated, I believe.
This song is very beautiful. I like to close my eyes and picture myself playing this song on the beach during a red and orange sunset. It's not a bad picture.
My God, I walked in Disney Paris and heart this movie song. I instantly got the chills, because it's one of my fav pics. Unbelievable, Rutger Hauer, Harrison Ford, the beautiful Sean Young. It brings back all the memories. What a sensual song!!
I love the sax in this number. You could almost see Dekker and Rachel getting it on after he tells her to tell him to kiss her. I'm sure if they made an updated version mabey with that guy who played Batman Begins as Dekker and Eva Mendez playing Rachel.
Dude, an "updated" version of Blade Runner in today's extremely commercial film industry would probably suck. A lot. I say just leave it as it is, with the one and only Blade Runner being a timeless classic.
@NickNorie15 You know it's only a matter of time now. They stopped making movies a long time ago... now they just ruin the good ones because the kids don't know any better, and Blade Runner is a like a ticking timebomb. They've already destroyed most of my favorites, with 2 more in destruction right now just waiting to suck.
Great music and great movie, have this soundtrack my lady and I make love to this great romantic song, brings back memories good and bad. Take time to listen and enjoy.
grab your whiskey bottle, stretch out in a comfy chair and dial up "Reflecting on the Meaning of Life and Love" on your Mood Organ (or grab the rods on your Empathy Box) and enjoy this track.
@sidhawk I've seen it twice and have you to enjoy it. Most people's opinions of films are unique and to dismiss someone else's opinion with a wave of your hand is ridiculous.
@sidhawk whoa don't be assumin brah. I thought this was a bad movie and I have my reasons. I am not gay and I don't like shit like transformers. I didn't like this movie because the plot moved so slowly and I was bored even during the action sequences. What I did like about this movie was the music and some of the visuals.
@sidhawk I have to admit i watched this movie in Philosophy when i was in high school, during the questioning of Rachel i fell asleep and im not sure why, my brain just kind of zoned out, but when i woke up Ij ust saw Rutger Hauer sticking his head through a wall and sayinh "i smell you" or something like that. needless to say i woke up both creeped out and confused! I'll probably give it another go and watch it all sometime though.
@sidhawk The replicants tried to fight against people like you; rascists, sexiists, homophobs alike. It was heavily implied throughout the film that segregation of any kind is horrid. For them, however, it was segregation of sentient robots and humans. Deckard agreed with them, but had to put them down for (a. a string of murders, and (b. he was under "threat" by his boss.
@sciences8 - My University course gave reviewing this movie as an option. Regarding the post-modern world we are living in and the question of what it is to be 'truly' human. I got about 85% - highest mark in my 3 degree for a written assignment. My father took me to this movie when I was about 13, it rocked both our worlds...and my dad is very fussy about movies.
If that means you agree, then its a shame you cant be there to join me whilst i have one :( but still nice calm relaxing music and a Bourbon on the rocks heaven lol
I'm sad... Someone.. I miss you but i hate you...
