I was watching The Big Valley today and she was singing a song, when I looked for it I found out that the song was written for that episode, it was called The Happy Road, have you heard that one?
@paramedic51 What a great comment. This is what YouTube should be about. Glad you like the clips. I used to work in a music store and when one of the regulars found out I was a Julie London fan she made me a DVD of this TV show from an old VHS she had. I have no idea where she got it from, but, like you I was very very happy when I saw it for the first time. Very happy to bring you enjoyment.
Thanks so much for sharing! I'm collecting her albums since 1983 but I haven't been able to watch this show until today--WOW! Best Wishes from Germany!
a promo photo from this performance is on her "All Through the Night" album.
A whole bunch of Julie's as-yet-to-be-released-on-CD albums (indcluding some that already have been) are being released by EMI Japan in record-like-paper-sleeves on July 31, 2010!!!!! Including "Send For Me", "Easy Does It", "You Don't Have To Be a Baby to Cry" and "With Body and Soul"!!!! I am in heaven....I love her so...
@mrlopez2681 yes that's a lovely album, Bud Shank is in good form too.
Those CDs sound great, but being Japanese imports means they'll be very expensive here in the UK. They did a range of 2 albums on 1 CD of Julie over here but left out some classics that I aready have on vinyl but would love on CD.
I agree - "All Through the Night" has Julie at the pinnacle of her interpretive powers. My favorite albums are "Feeling Good", "Easy Does It" & "Around Midnight".
BTW - where ON EARTH did you get this Julie TV special? Did it air in the UK? You guys are very lucky in the UK: the TV programing there is far superior to that of the US (I'm, sure you guys have your share of trash-TV, but Americans have turned trash-TV into an epidemic).
@mrlopez2681 I've always loved Julie Is Her Name, my parents had that one and it was so different to anything I'd heard at the time. I think Julie At Home is my favourite and, surprisingly Yummy Yummy Yummy ranks highly too.
@mrlopez2681 As for the TV show, when I worked in a CD store a regular customer found out I was a Julie fan and gave me a copy of the colour one and the black & white Japanese show that gets posted on here. I have no idea where she got it from but I think it's a Japanese show also.
Those new CDs you mentioned are on Amazon at 27.49 GBP (about 40 USD) each. Yikes
