The test subjects that were portrayed as the individuals who were able to notice the change were both young females, while the people who were in on the experiment were young males. Maybe there's a correlation there?

@ReoSonoma I think you may have something there, subject to further experiments. Like the other comment here by @iftoledo, the men may have noticed if it were female attendants. It all depends on whether they had "checked-out" the person behind the desk or not. Therefore, our visual attention of people is determined by our sexual orientation, if and when we are not looking for someone specifically.
