  • In spanish it is a huron (ooron, 'oo' like book).

  • Such amazing little creatures! They are so curious!

  • I think the confusion here lies with nomenclature (naming), this is Mustela erminea aka a STOAT if you're in certain parts of the world (England) however, some parts of the world, Ireland (and apparently Canada) "weasel" is used to refer to Mustela erminea (especially in Ireland because Mustela nivalis is not present). By weasel, they're not referring to the "weasel" of England, which is the Least Weasel (Mustela nivalis). I study the Mustela genus, they're a confusing bunch at times.

  • I think its gone crazy!!! =)

  • But a stoat is a weasel!, look at wikipedia!

  • Definitely a stoat you can see the jet black tip to the tail. Weasael's do not have this plus weasels are much smaller and I mean much smaller also the way it moves shows it's a stoat. I love these animals , mustelids : stoats , weasels, otters , mink etc you are a lucky guy to have one in there garden and putting a video on YouTube shows you care which is great.

  • Cool animal. Sucker is quick!

  • Whoa he's fast!!

  • Oh.. and I know of noone breeding them as pets. Though there are pet mink from fur farm breeding. Laws on what you can keep as a pet vary from place to place. Check federal, state, county, city laws first. If you live in CA, forget it unless you own a zoo or research lab.

  • Stoat = Long Tailed Weasel. Pretty much the same beastie. If its in the USA, its certainly a long-tailed weasel cause we don't call them stoats here.

  • What's the difference between a polecat, ferret, pine marten and weasel?

  • @comedybenj Ferrets are domesticated polecats. pine martens are big weasels which are able to climb trees, and weasels are the same as stoats only larger, if that's helpful?

  • @Airgunhunter2010 it sure is.

  • @comedybenj OK, glad to help :)

  • 0:38 That's my favorite part.

  • Where do you get a pet weasel? From a breeder? My Google search has yielded no results.

  • for all you idiots A STOAT IS A SHORT-TAILED WEASEL DAMN! this man knw what he's talking about!

  • They are very intelligent animals. Our cat brought a baby one home as a present for us it survived and was with us for over six months before it decided to leave. It thought I was it's mum! My cat was never fond of it though.

  • weasels are like hot dog with legs

  • I'm far from an expert, but this reminds me of a Least Weasel. Gorgeous (and hyper) little things. Nice catch! Where was it located?

  • are weasles born with touretts?

  • Its a stoat!

  • where did you get it?

  • MY GOD THAT LITTLE THINGS ADORABLE

  • Ok, if he's your pet, let's see you pick him up?

  • too fast 4 you

  • Where's I.R. Baboon?

  • Damn he's fast! Thanks for the video of one of God's most specialist creations 8-)

  • Best creature made!!! My fav. is Mustelidae Sibrica or the Siberian weasel along with the least weasel

  • I can't believe the ammount of people here arguing that it is a stoat and not a weasel. Damn, people! They are the same thing. Stoat and ermine are both another name for the short-tailed weasel. So yes! THIS IS A WEASEL! It is also a stoat aswell as ermine.

  • Weasels are tiny. Stoats are bigger.

  • I have one thing to say: ADHD. :P It's twice as fast as my ferret, at least! xD

  • I love it when I see weasels stand on 2 paws! ^^

  • aren't you worried of him getting away? ssooo cute

  • thats your front yard...

  • Kind of reminds me of my ferrets- but on fast forward, lol!

  • these are rabbit terminators

  • Weasels are the quickest animal on the planet, so its not "hyper" thats just the way they are

  • That thing is bad ass

  • it look smaller than I though, must be a young weasel

  • That weasel is a STOAT.

Only Stoats have the black tip on the tail.

  • wow that thing is fassssst

  • what part of the world is this?

  • lol, i just found a weasle baby. but i couldnt keep it. it's mother wasn't with it and it was smaller then my hand.

  • That aint no weasel but a caffine induce Ninja!!

  • aw, they are super awesome! wish i could have one as a pet

  • aww its really cute! :D

  • Weasels: Ferrets with ADHD.

  • In Canada we call them weasels or ermine. They are pure white in winter with black tip on tail. They are this hyper all the time and are hard to see. There one second then gone the next. They are everywhere in Canada.

  • weasels are awesome

  • omg, you are so lucky to have had that visitor! I'ts like a ferret ... on coke.

  • A few month backs I went to a place where there were Wild Weasels. Unfortunately we didn't see Weasels. Instead we saw Coyotes and crows.

  • yep, definitely a stoat...

  • Cute :3

    And really speedy.

  • Thats fucking cool

  • i like that weasel looks interesting

  • weasels are small and funny.>..>>>>>>

  • Cute! Does she just come to visit here and there? hehe Or is she really your pet and you were just letting her run around to get some exercise? :)

  • adorable <3<3

  • is it wild or what?

  • @apong117 I think she is, it appears she is running around in the open...

  • sorry, this is not a weasel.. but a stoat. Stoats have the black tip on its tail, where as a weasel does not. nice film though

  • @jamiebentonjones actually, that is not correct. there are 3 types of weasels. a least weasel does not have a black tip on its tail. However, short-tailed weasels and long tailed weasels to have the black tips. In addition to this, a stoat IS a short tailed weasel. It's just a different name, usually in Europe you'd call it a stoat, and in America you'd call it a short-tailed weasel. However, they are the same thing

  • @imreadydoctor, No, the weasel (mustela nivalis) it is very similar to the ermine (mustela erminea), but differs in the size and in the coat, also in that the stoat always has the tip of black color, as much in summer as in winter. The weasel is also extended by all Europe and north of África, while the stoat is only the northern Europe, where it changes to white color when it arrives the winter.

  • @Alastor73 can you please show me some source explaining this? I've gotten my information from the book "The Natural History of Weasels and Stoats: Ecology, Behavior, and Management" In which it is explained that the stoat is a short-tailed weasel. If this book is incorrect, can you please show me a scientific journal that suggests otherwise?

  • @jamiebentonjones

Actually a "Stout" is just a common name for a Short Tailed Weasel, much like how we call them "Ermine" up here in the north. They are all the same animal; Mustela erminea.

  • @jamiebentonjones >.> you do realize that a stoat is a weasel right?

  • @Stereotypeblackguy well youre a stereotype black guy so how would you know...

  • @Stereotypeblackguy it's easy to tell the difference between a stoat and a weasel... weasels are weasly distinguishable, and stoats are stoatally different... but it is clearly a stoat.

  • @Stereotypeblackguy no they're not the same. But I'm pretty sure this is a stoat and not not a weasel. ref kcc . org . nz / weasels

  • @jamiebentonjones stoats are weasels derp

  • @anarchymoo they are not the same do your research

  • a bit like a ferret!

  • where did you get it i really want one

  • weaseling out of stuff is wat seperates us from the animals

    except the weasel

  • whered ouy get it:D

  • I AM WEASEL.

  • Very cool animal.

  • where did u get him in a regular pet store? or it is an exotic pet? that no one can get? i want it so bad please tell me how much it cost

  • Its a weasel people. I see them where I live.

oreilly67 , you have a short tail weasel.

2 kinds of weasels, a long tail weasel in this video and a short tail weasel. They are around here all the time. They turn white in the winter if you live where there is snow , all but the tip of the tail , stays black.

I bet you dont see many mice around.

  • it is a stoat . ive got a pet weasel thats tame and it has a short tail

  • bet you cant catch it.

  • That is not a weasel it is a big boys replacement for a gerbil.. !!!

  • how do you pet the damn thing, its so hyperactive!

  • Jittery little fella

  • @markVIIchick He is but that is what makes him so cute! :)

  • Is that really a weasel or you're just tricking us!!??!!

  • That's a weasel not a ferret.

  • That, my friend, would be a ferret. Not a weasel.

a weasel would have latched onto your leg if it saw you.

  • fool thats no weasel, it's a stoat

  • nice to know someone knows what they are talking about.

  • Yep definitely a stoat it's too big to be a weasel and the black tip on the tail is a giveaway too! Lol!

  • they dont sell weasels they sell ferrets for about 165 each

  • It is definitely not a ferret! It is most definitely a stoat and most definitely not a weasel either! Lol!

  • thanks cause iv been wanting a new pet so i thought about a weasel

  • how much do they cost...do you know

  • omg that weasel its sooooo fast

  • it depends where you live in the Us cause I won one and police have seen it so Im guessing its not illegal and I got mine from the pet store honestly. Killeen, texas mall, they had like 7 or 8 of them so im pretty sure that they're legal unless they sold them to me illegally

  • Are weasels legal to own in the States, by any chance? (NOT ferrets)

  • Even ferrets are legal in most states. I've even heard of people keeping larger mustelids, like badgers or otters, but they're a handful.

  • i has a question... where can i getz a weasel? i always wanted one... btw, how much do they cost?

  • Weasels are mini ferrets on speed.

  • dude were can you buy one

  • cute ^^

  • That sucker had a lot of caffeine in his system.

How old was your weasel at the time you recorded this?

  • Look at that lil sucker go. :P

I've wanted a weasel, but I have no idea where to find one. Or save one. Is there a baby dumping ground or what?

  • they are beautiful animals

  • it very fast

  • cute little stoat

  • im so sad, i can honestly say i tried to save the little babie .. but it died..i tried to call the wildlife center... i fed it held it in nice warm towels but i guess it was away from its mother too long ... its crazy how attached u can become ....im so sad for little black tail

  • help i saved a baby short tailed weasel and i have no clue wht to do i feed it warm cream every 2 hours.... and it seems to like it, i also de-liced it, now what

  • Um I never raised a baby one there were babies but the parents took care of them, I would maybe try some google searches or call a local wild life center.

I know their carnivores, but I wouldn't know what to recomend to feed to a baby. sorry hope it does well.

  • @bethannette try dry cat food, meat flavored. Not too crunchy, something semi-soft. Don't feed it raw beef or anything like that.

  • @athealis Why on earth not? That's what they are supposed to eat. My ferrets(same digestive system and dentition). They eat beef, chicken, mice, rats, venison, etc. All raw. And no- it's a myth that it makes them vicious, lol!

  • @sinneadfert I wasn't implying that it makes them vicious, just that raw beef can be harder on small animals than say, their natural pray, such as vermin. I should have been more specific. But cat food is infused with nutrients, they seem to like it, and it certainly won't hurt them. I would just use caution feeding them raw beef for one. Raw chicken might also contain dangerous pathogens, but i'm not sure if they would be dangerous to small predators or not.

  • @athealis That's cool, not a problem. Most believe that old wives tale about it turning them vicious, lol!

Just wanted to reiterate mine have been raw fed for years(yes, beef, elk, bison, fish, etc.) with no ill effects whatsoever. In fact, their vet is really impressed with not only their health, dental and otherwise, but also their "healing" capablility.

Though I will admit, kibble will never enter my house again- even for my cats, lol!

  • @bethannette if u have it still and still need help, feed it things like veggies and friuts, and some highly cooked chicken

  • And that weasel is either very hyper, or you sped up the vid. Pretty sure it's the latter. Anyways, very cute ^^

  • The video is not sped up that thing and it's brothers and sisters were just hyper.

  • Yep, you look up "hyper" in the dictionary and they have a picture of a weasel.

  • @DaWeaselFreak They are hyper, and it is in normal speed lol trust me.

  • its wild

  • Where can i buy weasels?

  • stoters cute!

  • Are you sure it's a weasel? It looks like an ermine

  • weasels and ermine are the same thing

  • In Sweden we use the name weasel for Mustela nivalis and ermine for Mustela erminea

  • Actually, you're half right. It's kinda confusing: ermine is the name of Mustela erminea (same root, "erminea" and "ermine") in the winter, when all its fur except the black tip of its tail goes white. In the summer, it's called a stoat in Britain and New Zealand, and in some parts of Canada.

The thing is, though, as a species, it's called "short-tailed weasel", and many places also call it a weasel.

  • In fact, there's another species that's also called "weasel", the long-tailed weasel (Mustela longicauda) of North, Central and South America, which has a black-tipped tail. So it's kind of a confusing mess to know what to call them.

But the creature here is definitely of the species Mustela erminea in its summer fur. It has the black-tipped tail, but that tail's not as long as longicauda.

  • I think the long-tailed weasel also has a yellow belly and this one has a white belly. But the long-tailed weasel is actually Mustela frenata, not Mustela longicauda even though that literally means long-tailed weasel.

  • Alot of people here call weasels weasels in their summer coats which are brown, but when for winter they grow an all white coat and then people call them ermine. No idea why.

  • You're right. All ermines have a black mark at the end of their tails. The one in the video has one too so its an ermine, not a weasel. So cute! I want one!

  • An ermine IS a weasel, I've got two books that say so.

  • Yeah, ermines are a kind of weasel.

  • I'm presuming Ermine is the US term for stoat???

  • It's the animal family in which stoats and weasels are in

  • Seriously. I can't stop watching this. I think I see it every day...

  • realy? cool thanks.

their awesome in real life, I miss them.

the best was when three or four of them would come hang out with me all day.

  • WANT. So fast and cute! As for ferrets, I prefer them. They're hilarious. :P

  • Whoa I can't believe I got comments on this video. they live in northern BC, pretty friendly. and they love peanut butter cookies.

  • Are they vicious? And where do you get them because ferrets arnt as cool weasels.Pleas reply.

  • no they would sleep on my feet some times.

I don't know where you could get one, they were wild

  • Are they vicious? And where do you get them because ferrets arnt as cool weasels.Pleas reply.

  • It's a stoat! But you're right, they're also called short-tailed weasels. It's the black tipped tail that shows the species.

  • Dunno why someone rated Seadog's comment as negative when he/she is right.

  • Nice!

  • i want a weasel!!! ya farrets don't have that big black snoz of a nose, these guys are so cool!

  • Damn! You can tell that that ain't no ferret! Where do you live? The states?
