  • thats awesome

  • Fucking awesome!!! well done!!! do you ship?

  • Beautiful ram!!

  • wow. i like fishes... cute tiny fishes

  • Really nice Fish, Have a look at mine :)

  • Are you still breeding Rams, Ste? I'm looking for a good strain to breed from myself. This looks like a beauty!

  • Are you still breeding Rams, Ste? I'm looking for a good strain to breed from myself.

  • are they aggressive case i wanna get one but idk if its ok for my fish

  • @TheDeepfriedtweenkie I had three of these, I didn't have any problem with them - but always buy a minimum of three because that will minimise the stress caused to the one(s) that are picked on.

  • beautiful looking ram!

  • This is a male ram am i correct? as this is what my ram looks like and was trying to pair him up with a golden ram.

  • @catboyy I thought a male ram had a prolonged spiky fin (?) at the top??

  • @catboyy

IMO this is a female. The dorsal is short and all the same length (the spikes) and the black at the front of the pelvic fins, a male would just be dark or so.

  • @twinkenbaily due to bad breeding the 'fin rule' isn't accurate anymore, look at the black spot => if it has got blue spots in it, it is a female, is the spot just black it is a male

  • that is one beautiful ram

  • I Want to get those so bad they are so color full but i only have the plan ones... do you think they would cross bread?

  • Can u tell me water parametres for breeding Rams?

  • @Wlayko91

Both of my Blue Ram pairs mated in these water conditions:

    80-84 degrees F

    6.6-6.8 pH

    6 kH

    <120ppm GH

R.O. water seems to be the key, as they always seem to 'get busy' after water 20-30% changes of slightly cooler water (~74-78F). It reminds them of a Spring rain storm, I guess. Both tanks are heavily planted and CO2 is always at or close to 25ppm. Substrate in both tanks is Eco-Complete. Both tanks are ALSO over 2 years old. Hope that helps! Good luck.

  • @OnatopaU Thanks alot, ill try that, too bad I don't have R.O. yet but friend got it so... Cheer

  • @Wlayko91 - You are very welcome. I was wondering...what is the water like in Serbia (kH, gH, pH)???

RO (Reverse Osmosis) water is basically water with 0 kH and 0 gH.

I'm not sure how big your tank is but, you can buy some Distilled water from the local grocery store here in the USA, notice I said Distilled (NOT, Mineral water) as it has things in it you do NOT want.

If you need more help on Water Chemistry (and CO2 in planted tanks) let me know and I'll send you to my webpage.

    Cheers

  • Added Notes:

Just before I expect the Rams to start breeding again I'll place one Indian Almond leaf in the back of the tank using a bit of the substrate to hold the stem in place. I probably just lost a bunch of folks reading, so let me explain.

Indian Almond leaves (Catappa) have been widely used by Asian breeders of tropical fish (Angel fish, Cardinals, Discus, and Bettas) to stimulate breeding and promote health and vitality in tropical fish. Fish love it! eBay should have them or tag me.

  • @OnatopaU Actually, you can use any hard would leaf. Well, a dried one....I collect and store fallen oak leafs in the late fall before the first snow. They are a key ingredient in getting a large portion of your fry to survive IMHO.

  • hey what's the name of that plant you put in there- it looks good

  • @lanceknow101 - Looks like java moss

  • Excellent coloration on this fish!

  • if the fish was huge it would be so beautiful! its a shame its very small you have to look very close to appreciate its beauty

  • I love how ram's are part of the cichlid family yet they're so calm and friendly towards other fish, platy's, bala sharks, etc or at least mines is friendly lol :D

  • @xDANx24x - I totally concur until you get a pair to breed! During mating they can get rather protective. Just before and after their eggs are laid, they become very territorial. They are such attentive parents...it's really cool! They aren't scared of anything during this time. I actually had my hands in the tank and the male 'hit' the back side of my hand. Very brave little guy! :D

  • Your water chemestry ?

  • thats fucking awesome

  • nice

  • How old is your ram? Mine is like a month or 2 old and it doesnt have its colors on it?

  • @gblastoff I've heard they get their final adult colours around 6 months, so i would guess they start developing them at about 3 months? im not too sure, prove me wrong!

  • make another video of your rams

  • when we breed it could we put the mom and dad together and could other Ram cichlid be around??

  • i turned the lights on this morning, no babies, the parents must have ate there fry. :(

  • my rams just had babies, didnt notice it, but yesterday i was doing a water change and the rams kept attacking my hand, kinda unusual, just noticed the babies today, they spawned ontop of flourite gravel in a small forrest of foxtail, very exciting.

  • hi could i have 1/2 of these in a 10 gallon tank?

  • @brennansheppard1994 Pretty sure, yes.

  • @brennansheppard1994 yes but much better and recommendedly a 20 gallon tank is most suitible

  • FUCK YEAH! I want some of these!

  • love it, sichlids make good parents!

  • They are so pretty...but its wierd i have a ram chiclid but its defeniatly not as colorful as that, less blue and no red eye...?

  • wow! where did you get the rams?!

  • i got 4 of them 2 day

  • Aww! This is why I love German Blue Rams.

  • are they its baby

  • OMG SOO CCUUUTEE

btw what do you feed them? how long does it take for the fry to become free swimming? oh and i've got brine shrimp eggs....is that okay?

  • How the hell do you sex them ?

  • It is not recommended to have sex with fish

  • Damn man, why don't all you go like Michael Jackson and Beat It

  • @Tomb611 She had to fake it son..

  • @jocomat9 No she really didn't. Go out side you sad bastard instead of playing "War Hawk" and getting involved on other peoples old arguments. Fuck face.

  • @Tomb611 11 month old comment. How about checking my fish video. 8)

  • @jocomat9 No thanks. I dont have time i need to be at you mothers house in 10 minutes. However, shes older than 11 months but i am sure she can wait a bit longer. Good things come to those who wait after all.

  • @Tomb611 Wow anyone who makes moms jokes are little kids. Clearly thats you. I had to say that cause those jokes are old and stupid. I Owned you now move on.

  • @jocomat9 No, in 1863 the Slave Act. made it illegal to own people ass hole. Also, the only thing is old and stupid is your mom.

  • LMAO

  • in science the term "sex something" means to distinguish between male and female, so if someone says "how do you sex them" it means how do you identify there gender.

  • female rams have pinkish orange belly i think

  • Ask the guy on the bottom. He seems to know all about it.

  • just wondering is there another name for these cichlids and where are they from is it tanganikan malawi or south?

  • They are south american cichlids

  • hey i had my ram laid eggs and this is the seventh day how many days till thell be free swiming?

  • wow! love those rams amazing colour. what temp is your water? :)

  • wow! just adorable!! thanks for sharing!

  • Amazing what nature can do huh?

  • how cute they are

  • aww, a female and her fry, beautiful! my blue rams just had their firstt fry yesterday! the male was doing a good job parenting, but then the fry disappeared =[ but theyl have more. =] your female is veryy pretty.

  • nice color!

  • wow how does ur not eat babies? mine ate all their babies... it was almost time for the fry to hatch, then the next day i woke up they are all gone? did your pair eat their fry on the first spawn? or did u move the fry to another tank?

  • I love german blues. I cant find any locally. :(

  • holly shit thats one nice fish good job! how big do they get?

  • they get no bigger than 4 inches

  • Yup. They tend to stick around 3 to 3 1/2

  • je pourrais la regarder 20ans :)

  • how big can u get them at the store

    are they easy to find

  • are they easy breeders?

how can u tell there sex?

  • They aren't the easiest to breed, just need EXTREMELY high water quality much like discus

  • could someone please help me? i have a bolivian ram and today i noticed all of is mouth has been deformed, and he has a sharp red colour all around his mouth, i have a 6-7inch tiger shovel nose catfish and four 5-6 inch red pacu, is the rams mouth due to a strike from one of my other fish or is it just an abnormal deformity? i have currently put him in a small tank on his own and am feeding him liquifry, he doesnt swim around like he used to aswell, he tends to stay in one place.

  • HE FINNISH!

  • Keeping such a peaceful(peaaceful for a cichild) with such ......not so peaceful tankmates is not reccomended, I think you asked a rhetorical question there.

  • i have 2 rams in a 10 gallon

    1 male 1 female

with 5 cardinal tetras, 3 corey, 2 otos

    why are they fighting?

  • Uh, if they are going after the corys there is a chance they may have eggs layed. Cory's love to snack on Ram eggs, and the Rams will beat them for it.

  • I think 10 gallons is too small for 2 rams. I had one male and one female in a 10 gallon and the male killed the female. Your tank might be a bit overstocked as well.

  • 2 many fish in ur tank.

  • Don't breathe your kids in!

  • That's a really nice fish. I got two today and I live in Australia. What part of Aus do you live in?

  • very cool!

  • fun!

  • FUCK....u got a lot of babys,how u did that???

  • i wonder if i can have a ram with my green terror and other cichlids tank.

  • Keep rams with angelfish/discus - thats it.

They are comfortable in different conditions than cichlids and other fish.

  • omgg, how adorable, lol. I love them so much esp their colours. I had a a few last time, but for some reason they died. They are not bubble nesters right?

  • rams don't typically live very long in aquariiums. 2 years max from what i understand.

  • why is that? do you know how long they would usually live in the wild? they are gorgeous fish!

  • Now I am confused. You are taking the fry out, yet in the video I see the parent with the fry. Did you remove the fry after the video? Did dad survive his jump?

  • If you get lucky then the parents may look after the fry for the first week, after that the numbers drop and i wanted to save some fry..I syphoned off around 100 after the first week..No dad did not survive the jump!!!

  • How adorable this view is. I am hoping to raise rams this way. Most people have to remove the fry from the parents, for the eat the fry. Got any suggestions on how to prevent parents from eating the fry?

I would buy some rams from you but I live in Georgia, USA. and you seem to live overseas.

    Rams cost $10 dollars here.

  • Hi Hildell, i got lucky with the pair you commented on, i spawned them in a tiny tank, the male jumped out after spawning leaving only the mum..She did a fantastic job..with future spawnings a shaded tank, 18inch square with the sides blacked out and no light gave me the ideal conditions. Once they spawned(the easy part) i threw a towel over the front and left them to it.. i then removed around 100 and am growing them on as i type..

  • @ste12000 must it be wild to spawn?

  • @xxscadooshxx what?

  • 10 dollars is cheap they cost a lot more than that in the uk

  • @poczapsky69 they cost 45 SEK here WILD.. I think it is 4 dollars .. I live in Sweden. Bolivian butterfly fish WILD do cost 80 SEK .. 8 dollars ...

  • @Nasser90santour thats not too bad their quite delicate aint they? id love a set but got bricardis hudreds of the cunts and ther a pain in the arse would much rather a set of rams bricardis are boring as fuck to look at

  • @poczapsky69 ... Bolivian butterflies do live longer than these regular ones and are more beautiful. I will mail you and you can see my fish at a Swedish forum named Zoonen

  • i swear to God...people with lame ass questions....GOOGLE it. p.s. 10 gallon tanks are probably only good to breed; dont put 2 rams and a shark to live perminently in it. p.p.s lots of fry!

  • dont put a red tailed shark in there red tailed black sharks get to big for a tank that small i wouldnt even put rams in there get a nice school of neon tetras instead say 10-12

  • its probibly to l8 but they would do fine together red taild sharks arnt realy agresive its rubysharks that r agresive

  • they should be fine assuming your red tail shark is bigger then your rams. i would look into upgrading your tank soon tho red tail grow to 5-6 inches. good luck hope this helps. :)

  • I wouldn't out the Red Tailed Shark in there...it can be pretty agressive sometimes.

  • Thank you again ste, last question! Are any other fish i can add with it in a 10 gallon if i wanna mix? Say i was thinking a small school of tiger barbs? are there any other fish that mix w/these guys? if so, what ones that would also be able to be happy in a 10 gal? As i said im hoping a small school of tiger barbs would work. Or would that overcrowd?

  • Ty ste so how many would fit in a ten gallon aquarium(consider max size) without overstocking?

  • Put only one pair in..Two pairs will fight, if you put in two of the same sex they will also fight.

  • PLEASE ANSWER!!!!! CAN THESE FISH BE PUT IN AND BE HapPY IN A 10 GALLON AQUARIUM??? IF SO HOW MANY?

  • They will be fine in a 10 gallon tank, dont add too many other fish and keep your water quality very good by performing regular water changes..Goodluck.

  • Good job.

  • SOMEONE PLEASE ANSWER! Are these active fish and will they be able to suit in a 10 gallon aquaium?

  • Awesome blue ram. I did the blue ram thing for awhile but they were to passive and dull (not dull looking).

  • OMG!! they are beautiful!!! Kudos

  • That Fish Place dot com(product# YH:213017) sells them for $4.99. The shipping cost is $39.95 overnight. Rams need soft acid water to survive and lots of plants to hide because they are a very skiddish and nervous fish.

  • what do u mean by "soft water"??

  • oh wow a butiful ram, the babies (fry) look quite well

  • It has been 2 months since you posted this vidio. What has happened to the babies?

  • the most beautiful fish ive ever seen

  • Yes they are a bit more sensitive but once settled they are not that difficult to get fry from!

  • How much? or how many?? I got about 150 fry from this spawning, all are doing well and growing fast. If you want to know how much they are ill sell 1 Inch fish for £2.50.....

  • ill buy 5
