i remember riding around on my bmx at night with a cheap walkman on listening to this ,it seemed to take me to other places , the song not the bmx that is , i had to be in for 10 had school the next day
bernard is gonna beat them all , gonna beat them all .he does another cover, with electronic, named' can't find my way home', by steve winwood, and recently,' in the ghetto', of elvis fame. bernard's versions of each are more interesting . turn the heater on,especially, is pure magic in this young non singer's hands. the singer that all singers should try to learn from. nothing worse than the want -to- be singers maybe this is the best new order song, i played it nonstop all day.
This is a first class tribute to the only master of Dubb that really matters, Mr Keith Hudson. I feel very honored that Ian Curtis was a fan. I certainly hope both gentlemen will meet up in that great skyscape to create some of the deepest music ever, with Bob Marley and King Tubby sitting in.
Quite possibly the best cover version I've ever heard. Admittedly, I'm biased as New Order are my favourite band behind Joy Division, but I love the spacious, cold atmosphere of this version. I think it's a shame that Power, Corruption & Lies didn't sound more like the 82 Peel Sessions, as I prefer New Order during the Movement period (though I'm definitely in the minority here.)
At first I never knew this was a cover, my first impression was that it sounded like it could have been on Joy Division's 3rd album, had Ian lived. But still this is just fantastic.
Love this version, New Order back in 1982 really did an imaginative take on this song but not spoilt the emotional quality of the original. Besides, anything that encourages people to check out Keith Hudson's work is fine by me.
One of my fave NO tracks. Too bad Barney hates it.

This is one of my all-time favorite New Order tracks. Apparently Bernard hates it.

Nice tune :) I've had it in my head for ages now. Strange how he sings 'Gonna beat them all' as apposed to 'Turn the heater on' in Keith's original.
