I find it weird... Poachers often kill these animals because their coats are beautiful, which is exactly the reason I wouldn't kill a single one of them... I always find that tigers are more beautiful when they are still alive and their coats are still on them.
An average lion would be approximately 3/4 the size of an average tiger. An average jaguar would be 1/2 the size of an average tiger (and therefore 2/3 the size of an average lion). An average leopard would be 1/3 the size of a tiger and therfore almost 2/5 the size of a lion. All these are in terms of weight.
Cubs for the bigger cats like Lions, Kittens for the smaller cats i think. Mountain Lions are small for a big cat, so i guess it goes in the Kitten catagory.

Book is book, practice is another story. In the book leopard is described to be shorter, less sturdier built than jaguar. I always try to look at their spots, but only works for me 50%. Tiger's are the baddest of the bad. They are built to take down just about anything, and they are so cool. Mountain Lions and Jaguars are also really awesome, and together all three are probably in my top five favorites. Its a shame what we are doing to them, but I guess in a lot of cases its us or them, and humans aren't going out anytime soon.

well since u've done ur reading, u should be able to tell apart a leopard from a jaguar..a jaguar has dark bigger spots compared to the leopard and broader shoulders. last time i wasn't able to differentiate as well but now i do.

Book is book, practice is another story. In the book leopard is described to be shorter, less sturdier built than jaguar. I always try to look at their spots, but only works for me 50%. They say jaguar has larger spots on its coat, but sometimes i found a lepard with large black spotted coat pictures. It just so freaking confusing between these two supposed different animals.

Big Cats used to mean tigers, lions, jaguars and leopards only, but now the term has expanded to other big cats such as cougars, cheethas, snow leopards and clouded leopards. Of course you are right, only the biggest cats can roar.

cougars are not bigcats! traditionally bigcats are leopards, snowleopards, jaguars, tigers and lions. not the height is essential but all of them exept the snowleopards can roar. bigcats lie while eating and scientists can see it while studying the skulls

Tiger's are the baddest of the bad. They are built to take down just about anything, and they are so cool. Mountain Lions and Jaguars are also really awesome, and together all three are probably in my top five favorites. Its a shame what we are doing to them, but I guess in a lot of cases its us or them, and humans aren't going out anytime soon.
