  • is your hair wet or is that product? Beautiful hair.

  • You have a new fan. Knowledge is power. Power to the people :)

  • "Scalp is Skin" Great Point

  • I wish my mom knew all this .. lol

  • Your hair looks so soft. Can these techniques be used on relaxed hair?

  • I tried this technigue this time when I washed my hair and it worked so well. no more combs for me . I will use the two natural ones lol.

  • off topic but i want her to read me a story cuz i love her voice

  • she sounds like one of the people on tv ugh!!

  • thanks for sharing ;)

  • u remind me of Serita Jakes

  • WONDERFUL! i can't wait to try out these great tips tomorrow! thanks so much!

  • my hair is shorter but i still do the parting w/ my fingers and get it on my scalp

  • gosh darn! i want to know how to shampoo my hair!!!

it's funny that you call this type of hair "natural" it's just "black people" hair. get it right...

  • @tizle17 She is probably referring to how to un-relaxed hair as natural. It's a little different to deal with than relaxed or processed hair, so the use of natural is a term, rather than an overlapping hair type

  • ...."You have to shower, therefore you have to shampoo." I agree 100%. Washing the hair with conditioner to me, its like getting in the shower and instead of using soap you're using lotion. Yeah I bet the skin does feel silky soft but not very clean. BUT for all those naturals who co-wash and it's working for you, KEEP DOING IT.

  • re: her relaxer

she doesn't care if it's relaxed or natural, her whole goal is that hair is HEALTHY. she doesn't endorse only natural or only processed. just in case you're trying to make it sound like she's a hypocrite or someone takes it that way or something..!!

  • I NEED A HAIR DOCTOR

  • Ms. Akbari! Very helpful info...especially about the conditioning for dry hair...I'm gonna see if that makes a difference. I'm currently transitioning from a curly perm to natural (cuz i'm still undecided!) AND I live in the Caribbean....it's dry season and the sun is scorching!!!

  • This is very helpful information! Thank you!

  • she wont wear her hair straighen because its natural .

  • hmm...doesn't look like she responds to her vids....anybody ever tried no rinse shampoo? They sell it at the dollar store sometimes....wonder if it would work?

  • "we didn't have a shower"

    LOL

  • i want to see ur hair straigten

  • she got a perm. look at her latest vids

  • @mcamurray ok

  • I LOVE HOW SHE TALKS.....SO PROPER

  • LOL...okayyy...people...you dont have to do the okie pokie just to shampoo and condition your hair.

Simple, just use a wide-tooth comb to detangle your hair and use a detangling moisturizing shampoo to shampoo your hair (concentrate on the scalp); then apply a moisturizing conditioner to your hair (do it in sections so that you get all of your hair saturated). Rinse well and apply a leave-in conditioner. Air-dry and moisturize. Done.

  • i like how she says water.LOL

  • Thanks you sooo much, i've realized that i've made some mistakes when washing my hair. Especially shampooing.

  • lol

  • yessssssss!!!! I found a doctor for my hair! Bump Dr. Miracles I'm on the Doctor Akbari train! Whoop Whoop

  • Thank you, this helps a lot!

  • I'm sorry but this is crazy...it shouldn't take all of this to wash and condition your hair.

  • takes a lot but its worth it and saves you from mega breakage

  • seriously.

  • I agree with you

  • great video thank you for this iam about to go wash my hair now!!

  • Lisa Akbari ., you have great tips and demos, but please PLEASE, can you get a high quality camera and brighter lighting. i'd like to see your demos clear but they're dim, blotchy, and blurry.

  • I agree with dessence27 but i would tell you in a nice way that you would probably make partner faster and get paid for your video if you had a better camera. And no i haven't made partner because my videos are boring lol! But yours are really good! i have natural hair.

  • LMAO LOL

  • Lol... don't worry you'll wake up soon..

  • I'm use to washing permed hair but when I wash my new growth for the first time without a perm, I ended up mating all of my hair and ended up cutting most of my hair out. It took me about 12 hours or more to try to comb out my naps.

  • did you try sectioning?

  • I forgot to but i will not make that mistake again. : )

  • great tips, but she is talking as if she was teaching kindergartners how to was hair... this is not pre-school booski...

  • she has a full head of thick hair and she's a trichologist why is it laughable

  • i dont know bout yall but i dont like her and i dont like her advice

  • I'm not natural but i already do a lot of the stuff she mentioned and the other stuff that i don't do I think i might start. Really good tips!!!!

  • When I wash my hair in the shower i wash my body right after i rinse out my protein conditioner {which i apply with heat}.

  • Hey guys im new to this stuff

So do i shampoo my hair, wash it off, then condition? or do i pile both on at the same time? please help me here people :D

  • what i do is shampoo, and while the shampoo is sitting ontop of my hair in a big pile of bubbles (hehe) i was my face, and scrub the shampoo out under the water. next i turn down the water so its not hitting my head, squeeze out excess water, and take a quarter size blob of conditioner, and quiclly rub my hand together. after that i leave the conditioner sitting in my hair, and shave my legs. then i wash out my hair, aiming @ the roots first so my hair isnt greasy, and wash out the rest.

  • u shampoo first...rinse out the shampoo, then u would condition after!! Feel free to the leave the cond. in 4 a couple minutes for a deep condition, then rinse that out!!HTH :O)

  • Shampoo then rinse out. Condition then rinse out. Never just mix them like that.

  • Her voice is so sweet. LOL Personally I never understand "no poos". Now don't get me wrong. I ain't judging but I cannot no poo. We use product daily and some of us use 2-3 products per day. I have to wash at least once a week. I may co poo every 3 days but I definately have to clean my scalp. (with a very gentle shampoo or something natural like a shampoo bar)

  • this is great advice...but I have no time to condition my hair that many times in one sitting.

  • girl what are people with nappy hair supposed to do? I know I cant just run my hands down the middle of my hair and expect it to be detangled, my hair shrinks up to my scalp!! Oh well, the video was entertaining.

  • put ur hair in sections for washing and detangling that helped my shrinkage a lot

  • what do you do if you have no dryer?

  • Jus put the shower cap on and do work around the house. The heat from your head works just as good, it just takes a little longer.

  • this really breaks it down for me. I will have to try this method of shampooing.

  • okay no one has that much time to prep and do special stuff pre-shampoo.

  • I heard that. I got tired just watching the demonstration.

I would've liked to have seen all of this special stuff demonstrated on wet hair that has to deal with shrinkage and tangles instead of just talking about how to prevent them.

  • she called our hair "a bush"

  • I hate it when black hair is referred to as a bush or nappy. Whatever, I'm going natural. I feel so confident when I let it hang loose, not when it's oiled and permed down. Fuck society, I'm wearing the hair that God gave me.

  • I was in the grocery store today and an older black gentleman complimented me on my hair and said that it was gorgeous and that's the way that hair should be. He also could not believe that it was my real hair in a beautiful twist out!

  • Wow, really? See, even comments like that make me want to stop processing my hair. I've been looking around the net for REAL black NATURAL hair, and it's gorgeous! I'm even a little embarrassed to say that I didn't realize that OUR hair looked that beautiful. This is because I only see black women around me either wearing weaves or chemically processing their hair. I love my hair when it's poofy and out and free. I'm done with it. I'm going natural.

  • @CuddlyBubbles1 Woot!!! You go girl!!

  • @CuddlyBubbles1: Hello...Did you go natural yet? If so, how is your journey so far?...I've been natural for a little over 1 1/2 years and I LOVE it :)

  • i totally agree. go girl

  • XD Thanks!

  • Yo go girl! Me too. I'm going on my 6th month and I'm about to BC in a little, but I just liked your attitude about it. =)

  • Thank you :D And wow, 6 months? I would love to know when you do your BC. Congrats and good luck!

  • Thanks! I just gotta get with this whole YouTube & technology thing but I have a pretty good amount of growth for 6 months...cant wait to see it in 6 YEARS! =D

  • I hear you! I'm excited just to see what a year of transition will bring me :D I cannot wait till my BC!

  • you dont have any sence!!

  • This works!! Thanks so much for these tips!! I thought I was losing my hair, I'm so relieved!!:)

  • Am I the only person who thinks this woman's hair looks a hot damn mess? And I'm not saying that because it's natural. I have natural hair too, and i think being au-natural is beautiful when the hair is well kept. But seriously, she should be taking hair advice, not giving it out.

  • It doesn't look THAT bad.... O_O

  • LOLOLOL!!!!!!!

  • Thanx for this video i will try this for my next poo

  • So, when your scalp is itching, its time for washing. What if your scalp still itches after washng? My scalp itches all the time.

  • i JUST learned to do this yesterday!!! and im 24...how sad....THANKS for thsi awesome video!

  • i shower every day maybe twice and i still have dandruff and i use head and shoulders. it obviously sucks anyone know something betteR?

  • well, i do know that there are some tea tree products that are good for the scalp. tea tree oil helps to clean your pores and it nourishes, so possibly try looking for a good tea tree shampoo and conditioner. hope this helps!

  • thanks!

  • Does your Head & Shoulders have sulfates in the ingredients list? If it does you need a shampoo that has no sulphates/Sulfates in them. They dry the hair and scalp making it itchy.

  • imnot sure but i will definatly check on that thanks =]

  • you could try Nizoral . it's a great shampoo

  • where can i get this?

  • it's when you use the same conditioner over a long period of time. you shouldn't let your hair get use to one product.. usually

  • Hello Ms. Akbari,

How do you know when your hair has stopped absorbing conditoner? Is there a certain look or feel? Can the conditioner be seen or no longer be seen?

Wonderful info, keep up the good work!!

    Thanks

  • 1. She talks too fast. Fast-talkers concern me.

    2. If she is such an expert on hair, then why is her hair not longer, and why is it so uneven?

  • i feel you on the fast talking but the vid is already 10 mins...so she probably had to to get it all in so she wouldnt have to break it up into shorter vids

  • she most likely wanted it cut to that length...and her hair could be smashed down on one side without her knowing it.

  • How do you know how long her hair is?

  • YAYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love her personality. She's so down-to-earth. I am all over those techniques. Thanks, Sis.

  • Yes, she is! She has one of those soothing, soft personalities.

  • what do you do with a wet head of hair to get it groomed and ready to style without tangling? Do i twist it wet and leave it to dry? would it not just get tangly and knappy? i am a new natural women.

  • ok before u wet it put your hair in a few afro puffs I do 9mini puffs. use a deep conditioner I use aubrey gbp I leave it for 30 mins sometimes 15 then I wet my hair a little and detangle. Then rinse it out and use a natural leave in. twist in sections and style. I know ur post was old but hope I still helped

  • LOL

    she's so good!!!

  • Wow this information is so great! I never knew about the reapplying conditioner until your hair is stops absorbing the conditioner, wonderful knowledge, I really do feel empowered! Thanks so much Lisa

  • can you message me and tell me everything i must knwo about going natural

    im 14years.

  • ok i'm just interested . how many years do you go to school to become a trichologist

  • lmao, worddd, y u post that here??!!

  • ok.....y are you posting this in a NATURAL hair video.....take that somewhere appropriate pleas....

  • WOW, only 11 and she's alreay relaxed.

  • how do you grow out your hairline?

  • thankyou!!!

  • Im in the process of transitioning and don't know what process I should use to actually grow my natural hair and keep it healthy. Should I be using natural products and what are some good one's?

  • Hi, I'm actually an African American boy, and i'm trying to keep my hair healthy and growing faster. =] I know this video is for ladies only though.

  • Not for ladies only. You have to treat your hair the same way Dante. The information in her videos should be able to help you too, so that you grow your natural hair to be healthy.

  • Why do we 'always' have an itchy spot at the crown?

  • you are so beautiful lisa!!!!!!!i love you so much and your personality so sweet my hair is like yours times 4 and i have so much trouble with tangles and snags and i get so mad i seem to just start yanking and so much hair came out in the comb i was crying ....where can i buy your shampoo and conditiner from?

  • You dont need to buy HER shampoo and conditioner. Any good shampoo and conditioner will do.

  • @candikking Nope that is not true at all.

conditioner maybe, But almost every shampoo out there have sulfate which drys and damage natural hair.

  • @HeirOfGlee ...Notice i said any GOOD shampoo and conditioner. I am sure HER shampoo isnt the ONLY one thats good.

  • GREAT VIDEO!

  • Im going to try the plus conditioning method thx! I'm sure his is what my hair needs because it is always dry even after I condition sometimes and I use a glycerin mix everyday but it doesn't seem to last.

  • I thought that when you wash your hair you're not supposed to rub it in your ends or it will dry them out so you're supposed to just let it run down to the ends. Im just asking. Is that what your supposed to do? I'm not sure and I do trust what you're saying but i just want to confirm

  • yeah i have heard that too. I don't know if that will dry my hair out too much.

  • Often there is negative buildup on the ends. Its important to gently press your clarifying shampoo into the ends. As long as your clarifying shampoo is within your hair's pH (4.5-5.5) it won't dry out your hair. This technique is important because if you do not remove that buildup from the ends, then the conditioners, moisturizers, and oils will not be able to penetrate the cuticle, which allows your hair to be soft, shiny, and strong.

    --The Hair Doctor

  • This is true but I usually lightly run my hands over my ends instead of rubbing them.

  • good advice

  • Yaaay! Now I help my boyfriend

do his hair to help his nappy head

    ^__^

  • great video!!!!!

  • This worked very well for my hair! Thank you

  • Great video and tips thank you! I will subscribe =)

  • Oh wow. Thank you for this video. I will be checking out the site. I also would like to talk to you about a beauty event that I'm doing next year. I'm looking for beauty, skin and hair experts.

  • You're wonderful. Thanks for the great tips particularly on how to apply conditioner. I'll be going to your website to look at your products. Would you you be able to recommend products for thinning(pre menopause)hair? Your hair seems so moisturised in the video, what have you put in it? Thanks again Lisa.

  • GREAT VIDEO
